This channel started out as a overland channel. Travelled South America, North America all the way to Alaska. After that crossed Canada and the U.S.A to ship our Land Rover Defender to Europe. This was a nonstop trip that took twenty one months. Back home in South Africa the content still includes trips around Southern Africa. I am now doing some Black Smith work with the odd video. I will have content of British Motorcycles being ridden( Vincent, B.S.A Goldstar and Triumph Tiger500).
Vincent 1000cc Coastline Cruising. Just perfect.
Another stunning location to ride my Vincent. All my rides so far are less than a half hour from my home. This one is the best.

The West Coast
Переглядів 18414 днів тому
We decide to spend Christmas camping on the West Coast of South Africa. Before reaching he coast we see the longest ore carrying train in the world. Up to 7.5km long with 660 coaches. The West Coast can be beautiful but also very harsh when the weather changes. The coast is enormous and it is easy to find a camping spot with your own beach.

Ugab River 4X4 Namibia. Must do.
Переглядів 1,3 тис.Рік тому
The Ugab River drive is not a straight forward 4x4 experience. The road conditions very a lot between heavy sand with lots of dust and some swampy sections. The river bed will change after every rainy season. Even in winter the temperature can go up to 40 degree's Celsius. Two days will be needed to reach The White Lady Lodge. Lions at Rhino Camp is not that uncommon. Finding Elephants along th...

Nice ride ! Subscribed.

Hi did you perhaps take a GPS route that you could share ?
@@iMediadvd No I did not take a GPS route. Just follow the river down. A GPS might be a broblem as the river bed can change from rainy season to rainy season. Normally there are plenty of tracks to follow. You might have to walk on foot in places to check the route. Goodluck. Watch out for elephants.
great audio.
They don't call her a " BEAST" for nothing. Thanks for the ride-a-long. God Speed.
Super Video Phil, Glad you have an Hydraulic Steering Damper !, A " Must Have " for me !, I too have been Thrown off, with standard Damper !, Lucky to walk away !, I Got a load of broken Vincent bits from Africa 1965, And built a L/ning rep' in 1980 and raced for 7 years, Don't remember mine being that Loud , And mine was open pipes !.
Lekker ride on an awesome bike in our beautiful country - dons't get any better than that!
Must say it can't get much better this.
That big old Vinnie makes it look effortless! loads of torque and a mile eater.
If this doesn’t turn Greta Thunberg into a meat eater nothing will…
What a symphony! Love the overrun crackle.
Baboon: I don't care who are you! You know who are ME? Wonderful! Thanks! Really enjoyed your country, and your film.
Beautiful South Africa?
11:24...That's the BSA's I remember....bits falling off them before they even got started .
Amazing road, amazing bike, what else ? 😅 Thank you for sharing this experience. And this sound….
What a sweet ride. No traffic to dampen the enjoyment of the road. Thanks for no music dubbing. That motor is the only music necessary.
Totally agree. Having empty roads makes all the difference.
Glad to see such a valuable bike effortlessly eating that beautiful road up ! Interesting set-up with the front brake and the clutch on the same side .
@@smitty9733 The front brake is on the right side. The clutch and the decompression lever is on the left side.
Nice ride Phil. Has your Vincent spent its whole life in SA?.
@@Dinky-Biker I think so. Definitely the last 50 years.
Wow !
Amazing bike , amazing scenery , amazing wildlife , and brilliant roads . Here in UK we got too much traffic , and way to many potholes . I must emigrate to S.A
The best thing you will ever do.
Love your videos phil, great bike, roads, scenery ,must be getting late summer down there now,we have snow ,storms, frosts here in ireland, get my 1980 bmw r100rs out whenever i can, ride safe ,rich
Thanks. Not quite late summer yet. Our hottest month is next month.
Man, what a machine, thanks for bringing the experience to us, and don’t stop riding!
I agree.
Oh Phil, The Vincent is absolutely Glorious! How do you not be a raucous hooligan on that bike. Absolutely does not get any better than that. I will SAVE and play this clip any time I need to get a Vincent fix. Haha
Raucous hooligans don't live very long. Having respect for 75 year old technology helps. Enjoy the video.
@@PhilUys I get that. I'm 60 so no more of that for me but if I was riding that bike...oh man. It is just a fine piece of rolling art. Enjoy, and thanks for taking us with as 99.9% of us will never get that honor.
@@DH-tp9ns It makes me happy to hear that these video's are appreciated. Keep well.
Fine.
That sound!! Love it..
Great sound of Vincent. Beauful roads and great weather i wish we live there Our roads in Scotland have pot holes on all our roads
Must agree the roads around here are fantastic. The best part is our amazing wheather.
A really nice ride! I notice you were a bit more restrained after seeing the troop of Baboons! Not a good thing to hit one of those 80Lb teeth on legs, one thing being on the twin, but quite another for the cyclists to approach. We only have Wild Boar and Roe Deer here in southern France to worry about. Those carbs give a very quick throttle response, very impressive set up. Ride safe! Chris B.
We are quiet used to the baboons and they are road savvy unlike dogs. The cyclist are more worrying. You don't want to hit one of them. All round this motor is really nice. It gives something extra towards the experience.
another great video - thanks Phil !
150mph something like 60 years ago is wonderful, worthy of almost a million bucks.
You are so lucky to have birds singing, here in central valley California they are no more we have pigeons and very few other birds. I'm from the North East and miss the birds. Love the video, I used to ride my t 100 Triumph and do exactly the same thing
@@Kordziel You are right, having birds around is very cool. In our garden we have atleast 20 different species that are quite common. I can't imagine the disaster in LA for the birds living there after the recent fires. I saw a Roadrunner at Lake Mead in Nevada. I have a T100T Triumph Tiger, great bike.
Cool, engine sounds happiest above 2500 revs.
It comes on the pipe as they say at 2500 rpm.
Cackles very satisfyingly on the slight overrun. 😁
Good to see the Alaska champ still ticking. And nice Defender too! 😉
Always!
Is it the same car you had in Hungary 2019?
Yes it is. I have had the same car for 30 years now.
Well Phil! You have the same vehicles as us(Vincent twin and Defender) and now I see you have Berty our dog as well. I hope you had a good Christmas/New Year, but I would have been heading out into the bush, a bit of heat and dust for me. Stay safe! Chris B.
Parallel universes then do exist. Or great minds do think alike. What ever, you have good taste. Our dog is Ella. Do you live in SA?
Great video. Been riding 48 years. My granny had the blackshadow!
Just Beautiful. The bike and the scenery. Love your mechanical sympathy too - very nice.
My third ride with you on the Vinnie today. Cant get enough of this. Think i need help😂
Lol, that is the idea.👍
For some reason, I imagine this must be akin to driving an old 4 and a half litre Bentley. Not that I've ever driven a Bentley or ridden a Vincent. Just some crap that goes on in my head😂 What a fucking magnificent beast!
@@oldguzziguy You are probably right. Both will be pretty unrefined.
which sounds better? one's a V8 car and the other's a V twin bike 🤔 hardcore comparison...definitely the Vincent imo...but im a biker, no dis to the Ferrari, but its not an AC Cobra 🤔 that would be a better bike/car comparison...but I haven't got either so I can only comment 😊
@@doug_1489 Most people prefer the Vincent sound. The Ferrari sounds amazing in 4 or 5 gear under load at high rev's. Both are out the top drawer. The AC Cobra has the typical American muscle car sound. All good.
@@PhilUys hey no dis at all...those 2 machines of yours are absolutely beautiful, everyone is saying the same sort of thing with regards to the comparison not being an accurate one etc but I think deep down people are more envious than anything else 😅...thanks for the beautiful video, both of your machines are going to do nothing but appreciate, that's for sure 👌🏻 I'm sure lots of people are going to watch this clip.
What a magnificent beast. What I would give to be behind that speedo and flat bars!
@@oldguzziguy You are half way there by watching the video's.
@PhilUys hmmmmm......not quite mate!
It is indeed much much prettier than the new one!
Just fucking magnificent!
Phil what country is that?
South Africa.
Oil is cheap in the uk. I would never put drained oil back into my oil tank. The stand is already bent from people starting the bike on the stand.
Cost is not the problem. SAE 50 Momo grade is very difficult too find in South Africa. The oil is also still pretty clean.
A truly beautiful country to ride through.👍
Couldn't agree more!
Great to see the bike doing a ton up! That copper just wanted to have a gander at the bike😆. He might not have been so friendly had he seen you take that island. Keep ‘em coming.
@@Paul-tk2my Lucky for me all ended well on the day.
The perfect bike for the beautiful South African countryside. 😊
My second ride out on this machine 😂. My brother in law is big into bikes so I’m going to show him this. That engine doesn’t sound like it’s doing any work
Thank you for sharing! Excellent
My pleasure!
Lovely scenery-which country? Nearest I've come to riding a Vincent-I have a 1938 Ariel Red Hunter which is also noisy! Do you have straight through pipes? Amazing to think that Vincent originally fitted a 3 x 20" front tyre. I have a happy memory of seeing the great George Brown sprinting his special(Nero or Super Nero) at Madeira Drive, Brighton UK, in 1971....he wore tattered leathers and a pudding basin lid-wonderful. Thanks for the post. P.S. Although the exhaust note is exhilarating it does sound a bit like those awful modern Harleys with unsilenced exhausts.......no offence to Harley owners who can't afford a Vincent!
South Africa. Yes, I have straight through pipes. Have you heard a Harley doing 100mph? I haven't. I wonder what it will sound like.
never ridden a Vincent b4 plenty of Good Vibes..thanks and Cheers...
Just a inkling what it feels and sounds like.
