Custom 7’ Tall Vinyl Fence w/ Lattice & Retaining Wall Complete Install #diy #how #howto
We took a standard Lowes vinyl fencing and added our own lattice topper to give us a custom 7' tall fence. We also installed this fence on a poured concrete stem-wall so that it retained water and debris from the uphill neighbor. Also, by having the entire fence above ground, we are able to easily disassemble any part of the fencing that may become damaged and easily replace the damaged pieces.
Here are some of the parts that we purchased to make this project work. We purchased most of the parts at Lowes. Some of the items were only available at Home Depot, and you will see them in the list below. Either way, if you do not have these stores around you, you can purchase the parts from their websites and have them shipped to your home.... we do not make a commission off of any of these sales...just trying to help you out with your project and cut down the searching for parts for you!

    Is there a trick to getting one back off? Someone installed an attic fan behind mine and I need to get it off to replace it but it won’t budge.

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2 2 дні тому

      @@RogueSky8 Hi! Yes… it grabs on pretty tight, but you can work each corner off and it will come right back off. There are ridges on the corners of the vent that grab a hold of the frame as it’s pushed on. In order to get it back off you have to pull pretty hard. I would give a quick check on the sides first before you attempt that just in case whoever installed it decided to side screw it as a permanent installation. If you don’t notice any screws, then give it a good tug on each corner, one at a time, and it will come off for you.👍

    Psst! One tub of Redgard is NOT enough for that shower. Read the label and the ANSI standards. If you roll it on you’re gonna need like 4 coats to be truly waterproof or you can trowel it on with two coats. EDIT: each tub of Redgard is good for 55 sq ft, that shower looks to be well above that. I hope you did a REALLY good job sealing the tile joints and edges

      Hi! Thank you so much for watching the video and leaving a comment. I have had several different brands of cement mixers and this is by far my most favorite! It holds quite a bit of concrete and does an incredible job of mixing it perfectly. Plus, the wheelbarrow style is great. If you’re in the market for looking to purchase one I would definitely be looking into the Kushlan brand. Very solid mixer.👍

    My crawl space is very short in some places but also tall in others. The good part is, it's a new build, so it's clean for the most part. I ordered 14 mil plastic, do you think it is fine to put it over gravel? We leveled the crawl space with gravel during the build.

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2 6 днів тому

      Hi! Thank you for watching. 14 mil plastic should be fine if the gravel is smooth. If it has sharp edges, you may want to go with 20 mil plastic. You Can Do It👍

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2 6 днів тому

      @@ChefMonkey well, if you won’t be using the space to store stuff…you should be ok with 14 mil. The biggest issue with sharp rocks and thin vapor barrier is puncturing the plastic from heavy traffic. This would create areas where moisture would enter the crawlspace making your hard work go down the drain. If you won’t be using this space then you should be fine with what you have already ordered.👍

    • @ChefMonkey
      @ChefMonkey 6 днів тому

      @@YouCanDoIt2 ok, good to know. Wasn’t sure if just my weight might puncture it while installing, but I’m just a little over 100 pounds so should be ok then. I’m thinking to put foam boards from entrance to the dehumidifier before the vapor as that would be the only area I’ll be checking up on from time to time.

Now we're up for $400. Plus umbrella, plus seats. Oh wow. By the time you're done, you've invested $1000 into an old, used, rusty set. PASS

    Thanks for the informative video. I am observing some mold patches in the basement on beams, wood, etc.. and am planning to follow the directions you mentioned. Please correct me if am wrong. - apply the mold armor spray at all places including porous surfaces such as wood and drywalls. - should I wipe or scrub the surface after the application or simply leave as is? - should a table fan be running while am spraying or should the fan be there after apply the product? - Is it safe to run a dehumidifier immediately after the application in basement or should we wait to dry it? - if I apply the product, how many hours should I stay away from basement? Also, can I turn on the furnace? Will the chemical spread internally in the entire house? Thanks in advance.

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2 10 днів тому

      Hi! Thank you for watching the video. Those are some really good questions you have! First, I don’t know if mold armor is OK to apply on sheet rock. Not that it wouldn’t kill the mold, but because it is a liquid, it can deteriorate the sheet rock paper. I also don’t think it would be a good idea to run the furnace or a dehumidifier. Because the mold armor is a chlorine/sodium hypochlorite mixture, it can get into the inner workings of the fan and rust out any metal parts. I believe it’s best to just spray the mold armor on the surface, open all vents and basement door, let it air out naturally, and then continue with the remainder of your project. I hope this information helps you out.👍

    Beautiful work! The one thing I'd want done differently is that hose junction; the narrower hose should really flow into the wider hose so there isn't a little lip for water to get stuck on. At least I think that's how they do it for sewer pipes.

    Awesome video. My only change might be the painting. I don’t care what the barrel looks like so long as it functions as intended to grow tasty vegetables and fruits. I’m assuming the paint is mainly for looks? I’d be a little concerned about leeching potential toxins into the soil although I’m sure it’s prob negligible. Anyway, awesome job and it looks killer! If anyone even sold a turnkey barrel setup like that I’d bet it would cost a few hundred dollars. Not bad for a days work especially when DIY is so fun for us tinkerers. I’ll be making one or two of these next season. Thanks for the video!

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2 11 днів тому

      Thank you so much for watching and leaving a great comment…yes, the paint is for aesthetics only. I’m not sure if it would negatively affect the veggies as it’s on the exterior of the thick barrel…but I understand the concern and caution with not wanting to use it. These are amazing barrels and I now have four. They are full and producing tons of vegetables this season. You will have a great harvest if you create two yourself!👍

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2 13 днів тому

      Hi. Thank you for watching the video. You should be able to use the same technique to remove the entire shower surround, including the ceiling. What you will most likely have to do is cut around the three sides at the top of the shower in order to pull down the ceiling fiberglass first. When that has been removed, you can then continue with the removal of the sides and the base as shown in this video. Be careful not to cut too deep so you don’t accidentally hit plumbing or wires hidden behind the fiberglass.👍

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2 16 днів тому

      Hi. Thanks for watching the video. I don’t have a sand removal video posted. Your sand needs to be replaced every 3 to 5 years depending on use and size of filter / pool. With that being said…there’s no super easy way to do it. You need to open the spigot at the bottom of the sand filter to drain out as much water as possible. Then, you will need to remove the valve body at the top of the sand filter drum (large black apparatus that you manually turn to various cycles). Then, you will need to use a wet / dry vacuum to suck out the sand. And finally, you will need to refer to this video on how to properly fill the unit back up with water and sand. I hope that this information helps you with your project. 👍

    I totally understand what you are doing here but have a question. What if I wanted to keep the power in the room where the outlet is existing but then just add a second outlet off the existing outlet in the 'new' room? My scenario is that I want to wall mount a TV in the guest room. The guest room shares a wall with the kitchen. The existing outlet in the guest room is NOT centered to where I want to put the TV. The common wall between the guest room and the kitchen has an existing counter-high outlet in the kitchen. Instead of just flipping the box around to the guest room, I'd like to keep the outlet in the kitchen and add another outlet (slightly higher or lower) in the guest room to have power for the new TV. Is that doable?

      Yes! It’s absolutely doable. I flipped the outlet around so that it was still usable because I was putting cabinets right where that outlet originally sat and I did not want to bury the outlet. New receptacles can be added to circuits as long as you don’t overload the circuit. 👍

    Hey! Thanks for your installation tips. I was wondering if you would suggest using flex pvc on this filter? I got a similar filter in Canada and it came with a 3 foot piece of flex hose.

      Hi! Thank you for watching the video. I have not seen a system with a flex PVC. But, I would have to assume that if the unit came with one, it must be rated to properly hold the water pressure and demand of the system. My only concern might be corrosion of the flex pipe (over time) due to chlorine content of the pool water. I hope that this information helps 👍

    Hi thank you the video. How often you change the sand?

      Hi. Thank you so much for watching the video. If you properly backwash (every 3-5 weeks) your system, your sand should last for 3-5 years before you need to replace it. 3-5 is a good rule of thumb...3-5 weeks for a backwash and rinse...3-5 years for sand replacement. I hope that this information helps you 👍

    It would be helpful if after connecting the wires if you would include a shot of the configuration on the back of the switch before shoving it into the wall. My Leviton SureSlide dimmer has a red & black both coming from one hole on the back of the switch and another separate red wire. I’m just saying.

    I'd like to know why they put the screws on the normal bed and bath doorknobs on the outside of the door...

    What happened if I run out of space to put breakers? Can this be put in a breaker that is already used?
