You're Watching the Frozen Movies Wrong.
A recent tweet by Jenny Nicholson prompted me to look at a 2020 documentary about the making of Frozen 2. This caused me to rethink the entire Frozen franchise and why it might be smarter than I initially gave it credit for.

3 Reasons Westworld Failed (But Why It's Good Anyway)
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
Westworld was a good show, but it was also a flawed show. By taking a look at the reasons it failed, I think it's a little easier to appreciate it as a whole. Also, you know... spoiler alert for the entire series. (I think the title of the video implies the series will be spoiled, but... uh... just in case.) And sorry for the spotty video quality of some of the clips from the show. Did you know...

In addition, it needs to be stressed just how obnoxiously loud the TM US audience were. Not everything needs to be whooped at, not every joke is a belly laugh, and watching something that tries to brainwash me otherwise pushes me away.

I watched Taskmaster US and the problem wasn't the running time, it was the fact that they had a person as Taskmaster, that didn't commandeer the kind of respect that a Taskmaster should have. Also they had a crazy lady on the show that shouted "my c*ck" every 15 seconds.

There is an upside to not fleshing out the characters from the get go, you can let them grow along with the stories as the series unfold, and we get to see their growth, and you can fill in, the various reasons for why they're all there, which was done for basically all of them. And it works very well, because the writers use it right. Basically we get to meet them as very blank slates, and as we get to know them, we see they're very much like any other person, with their strengths and weaknesses.

Well Star Trey was overly repetitive. The reacquiring theme was all about ELOCUTION !!! The Orville is just like most all of Seth MacFarlane's shows and such, all focus on real life issues and make people think.

Soo that's weird but I hadn't see the show in ages, and yesterday I fond reruns I was quite excited... But I discovered it was season 5 it was not nostalgic what was all that this bs cast I didn't remember those guys! Yet... Without the context of earlier better episodes fresh in my mind I... Your case is well reasoned and persuasive, however I do not agree and would like to counter it, hopefully for your own better enjoyment of Wednesday the show, should you want to revisit it. First, the most obvious point is that Wednesday the show isn't trying to be The Addams Family because if they wanted to make that, they would have. Tim Burton has chosen to place the focus on a single member of the family so it naturally will have a different dynamic. That said, how different are the rest of the Family who we meet along the way? Gomez and Pugsley enjoy a bowl of potpourri together. Morticia looks out of the car at stormclouds remarking that it will be a beautiful day. Fester delights in consuming an entire bottle of ketchup. Everyone else is still behaving like the family we remember. There is a major difference in that for the first time we have a cast of supporting characters who are explicitly not human and instead are werewolves, vampires etc. The joke now being that the Addams family are still unknowingly considered weird by this group which are outsiders to wider society. Wednesday herself is the exception. She does understand that she is considered weird by those around her. I don't think this is inconsistent with her previous portrayals where she is consistently smart, she is able to see herself and her family for what they are. What is different is that she has been deliberately made older than previous incarnations. Turing 16 during the course of the show to Christina Ricci's 12 and Lisa Lorings 6. Wednesday is now a young adult and finding her own way and pushing back against the world, like teenagers do. There is a fair deal of consistency between the 60s show, the 90s movies and Wednesday the show in Wednesday as a character. In the 60s she stood up to bullies, even giving one boy a black eye and had been given enough martial arts training to throw Gomez on his back. She wore a native American headress once for a game, beginning a trend in showing sympathy with indigenous people. That was continues into the 90s with her leading the revolt at the summer camp's thanksgiving play and her contempt for the privileged fellow campers (note how Gomez and Morticia were still cheerfully socialising with them in that same scene you mentioned). Now in her own show Wednesday is closer to adulthood and frustrated by the world around her. She doesn't see a difference between the bullies and cliques at her old school and Nevermore. She stands up to bullies and befriends the bullied. Lastly I see a different moral of the show to yourself. Wednesday doesn't learn to conform. Instead she learns not to rebuff those who love her for how she is. While Wednesday may be initially horrified by Enid's cheerful demeanour and colourful wardrobe, she learns to look past that and she her character as a true friend. They establish boundaries very early on and crucially neither tries to change the other to be more like themselves. In keeping with both Charles Addams and Tim Burton's delight in the darker sides of life Wednesday steadfastly remains true to herself through her show, like a modern telling of Shakespeare's Melancholy Jaques. Maybe not the little girl coming home in tears because a neighbour told her there was no such thing as witches, but a hero for the neurodivergent and those who feel like outsiders watching. 🖤

Re: Greased Lightnin’-it’s a little more nuanced than just “this car will attract women”. The rise in popularity of cars among teens in the 50s and 60s was kind of a major cultural shift, and one of the reasons why courtship was definitively replaced with dating. It also gave teens access to one thing that wasn’t at all prevalent before-Privacy. Cars were a major contribution to the rise of teen subculture in general. Or maybe I’m just over-thinking it because Grease is my current hyperfixation lol. But whether or not the song is referencing it, cars among teens in the 50s were A Big Deal™️

There is a french canadian version called "Le maître du jeu" (on Noovo) that concludes it's 3rd season. The format is pretty similar (except no tiebreakers for some reasons). The dynamic of the two hosts is pretty similar but more tame and a bit less confrontational. The tasks are coming from the same "book" as the UK version. A lot of repeats. And the tasks are mostly shot during summer at a ski resort.

"And for once, I think the German people are right." -Shawn B. Ryan, 2022, 22:20 Curious to see if the German people have a critically high rate of failure elsewhere on this channel. Jokes aside, this was a fascinating analysis with some great points. Really love how you touched on the good and the bad of everything. I feel like Alf peaked very early in S1E2. From start to finish, it's golden. Whatever the rest of the show may have been, that one episode is one of my favorite sitcom episodes from any show. Also has one of the greatest opening themes ever given to a show. First half of the show's theme is my preferred version, but the later seasons' version is also crazy good.

Commenting on this video a few years later, I’d like to say all of my reasons about why this video is pretty bad 1. you’re ripping into a sitcom that is really old and looking at through the eyes of someone who doesn’t understand it. 2. There are definitely worse picks You could’ve chosen like the Big Bang theory, for example the acting is cringe and most of the jokes are either hit or miss. As a fan of this sitcom, I respect your opinion on it, but I also wanted to critique your points

In the 60's show, wanting "to be a part of the community" was part of the charm, but now it gets a disappointing sigh? It's an odd criticism because it wrongly equates wanting to be a part of the community with conformity.
