There was definitely a missed opportunity here where Scott could have officially retired after finding the right Santa replacement, and then he can *finally* do right as a father/grandfather now.
Once again you've proven I have odd taste in movies. The Second Movie is my favorite haha. Martin Short was a highlight of the 3rd, but I always felt it lacked the "magic" that the first 2 seemed to contain. Love the new Christmas set-up in the background too. This entire franchise could easily be swapped out for a Superman story. Or maybe a Superman like character. Great video as usual!
Ha! Well, maybe I'm wrong! I just felt like there was such a gulf between the cartoony North Pole stuff and the much more grown-up dating plot, I didn't think the movie was as coherent as either the first film (which was mostly down-to-earth) and the third (which was mostly cartoony). Though I can see the argument that maybe the second film found the perfect balance between the two... Hmm, you're right that it would be an interesting Superman storyline! And thanks for the complement on the new background! Yeah, now that I've got LED lights, pretty soon I'm gonna start looking like a real UA-camr!
@@ShawnBRyanVideos Oh I agree with your reasoning...I think I might just be a sucker for a sequel that adds to the universe. I also think BTTF 2 and MIB 2 are my favorites in the series (I know at least MIB 2 is pretty controversial). I think you already have a really great "hook" for your channel so the cool lights will just add to it! You can also hide cool little Easter Eggs about your topics in the background too!
The somber analysis and conclusion had the opposite effect and now I look forward to revisiting these films I haven't seen since childhood (Bernand the Elf was always my favorite). Rather than looking too deep into it, I'll just say that this was an excellent video.
Ha! Thanks! I'm glad I didn't dissuade you from rewatching the movies. They're certainly not bad, I just thought it would be fun to follow the narrative thread of Scott and Charlie's relationships through the franchise.
Admittedly did not find this channel until yesterday, but I’ve already watched all the videos on this channel. Your format for this channel is awesome.
To be honest your analysis makes me like the series even more. It does have a interesting message about fatherhood. I know it is hard to see Calvin not learning his lesson but some times that is the way it is.
I personally like the second and third movie a little more, because holy shit, the first movie is almost a horror movie. Think about it, a man being turned into soemthing else by a force he can not fight or control, that metaphorises not only his body, but also, his soul. Its like a demonic possesion movie, or hell, a venom movie woudl probably work with a similar story.
Yeah, it's a really weird detail that Scott Calvin begins the movie by working long hours making toys for other kids while neglecting his own, and ends the movie the same way.
Well, remember that his step-father was a psychologist. I assume a childhood spent with him has given Charlie a lot of time to put his feelings into clinical terms!
Well I say Scott is like a superhero superheros like Spiderman they give themselves to help out others who need there help but there lives are falling apart when the mask comes off. That just happens and that's why so many heroes quit and when they are actually happy the problem they dropped gets worse so they have no choice to come back.
Real reason this franchise sucks: In about 1997 my dad got this film on VHS and i was super excited to watch it on the TV in my mums bedroom that has the built in VHS player. I was super excited but my Grandma was just leaving and she told me i had to wave her off through the window first. I was so excited and annoyed at having to do the simplest task (because i was 4) i threw the window open, but it was a wierd 70's council house window that span all the way around, and it span and hit me in the face, gave me a concussion and a permenant scar just under my left eye. I personally blame this film, and when i finally watched it as an adult to see what i was missing i realised i was missing nothing and a concussion was actually more enjoyable
The First two movies are a guilty pleasure for me, with the second film being my favorite. Martin Short and Kal Penn were the highlight of the third one and series respectfully, but they both lack the magic the first two films had.
I can see why you like the first Santa Clause movie but as a child I thought the beginning and the middle of the film was boring. I liked it when he was in the North Pole as a kid. Kids don't care about custody battles until it happens to them. I like the Santa Clause 2 better as a kid and probably still now. With that being said I like your analysis. Because on the TV show The Clauses, he visit Charlie and asked him to be Santa. Then Charlie said no. He doesn't think it would be a good idea because he has a wife and a father. He does not think it is a good idea to raise his children in the North Pole and I think he was trying to say he did not want to an absent father.
But didn't feel?? I mean I don't know I like the first two I especially like the first one but the second one was decent the third one and I feel like they were pushing it but looking forward to seeing what you have to say I already dropped the like
Ha! Yeah, I'm fully admitting that my enjoyment of the third movie makes no sense. The 1994 film "Clifford" broke me in ways that I've yet to fully come to terms with...
love the content and the use of the puppet glad to see the craft being used so creatively! great essays too!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment!

That is so bizarre..... He just left his kid lol
Yeah, I did not remember so much crying in these fun Christmas movies...
I am getting addicted to your content!!
Ha! Well, thanks! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!

Wow, thanks so much! Sorry you had to suffer through some very badly lit video and poorly recorded audio in those older videos...

I can't believe one of the best MediaTubers is a Muppet, this is amazing
I've looked it up when you said "he goes back to work", and yup, he originaly works at a toy-company. So the Santa-thing is a metaphore.
Yeah, it's a really weird detail that Scott Calvin begins the movie by working long hours making toys for other kids while neglecting his own, and ends the movie the same way.
Glad to find this channel keep it up
Thanks, I'm glad you found it!
Just binged your channel. Great essays and love the muppet!
Keep up the good work my friend!
Thank you so much!
"It's not conducive to being a good parent"
WHO TALKS LIKE THAT??
His kid gets bullied, HARD!!!
Well, remember that his step-father was a psychologist. I assume a childhood spent with him has given Charlie a lot of time to put his feelings into clinical terms!
It's passive language, meant to soften the blow of basically saying "your job made you a shitty dad"

"Mrs Claus doesn't have a first name." Well neither does her husband. Or do you think Saint is a given name?
The First two movies are a guilty pleasure for me, with the second film being my favorite. Martin Short and Kal Penn were the highlight of the third one and series respectfully, but they both lack the magic the first two films had.

I had no idea there was a series.
