Series 11 and 12 are proof that the lack of an audience in studio wasn't the reason for series 10 feeling different. It was for sure because of Covid, but it wasn't the audience thing.

Series 10 is let down by the COVID situation but it has one of my favorite casts of contestants ever. Them making each other fall over laughing in almost every studio segment despite not even having an audience there was really endearing to me.

interesting analysis! I agree with the comments on bad chemistry between contestants being a major factor in how well a series go. Though it made series 10 quite difficult to watch at some points, my personal least favourite must be the episode in series 8 where Iain and Lou are fighting. So uncomfortable. For me, series 10 was saved by Katherine's charming bewilderment, and Johnny just being loveable.

Oh, the hippo task was one of my favourites! Daisy did two drawing tasks that almost made me cry laughing.

I did not really like several of the tasks in series 10 and think that their design made the contestants look bad instead of funny. It's the 10th installment of the concept, so it got understandably harder to come up with tasks that were original, didn't allow for some of the loopholes already used (like moving or even just touching the "red green"), yet were still doable. In my opinion they failed to on all three accounts many times.

I think my favorite moment is tied between James Acaster finding out Rhod had opened the garage.... and.... sausage mixer.

It's subjective but I'm pretty sure series 17 is going to go down as the worst full season by a wide margin once all is said and done. The cast had negative chemistry and didn't gel at all in my opinion with no stand out tasks. I've watched every season of Taskmaster multiple times but 17 I can skip completely as it didn't hold my attention.

I personally love series 10. I think it embodied the absolute insanity everyone was experiencing during the pandemic. The 'learn your lines' is one that I still love. Yes it's long, but I think it's because it's so hard to cut anything out. The dialogue is stupid, the accents are hilariously good & bad and Parker in the bush is the cherry on top. It's far from my least favourite episode, but then again I love its lineup, I know some people don't like Daisy & Richard as much, but I'm fine with them. I think it's hilarious how despite being a bit at odds they score so well. I agree that series 8 gets awkward with its competitiveness, and I'd say its lineup didn't gel as well anyway. That and series 6 would probably have my least favourite episodes, but more due to the cast than the tasks.

Series 10 is where I discovered Taskmaster, so I will always have a soft spot for it

Interesting video, I've never really gone into episode ratings, but can I say I 100% agree with the highest-rated episode since it's my all-time favourite, and 5 is my favourite series. A solid prize task, the coconut task featuring Mark's tragic DQ and resulting lead blown along with Nish's dumbness and Sally's smart solution, the graph task featuring Sally being all h0rny as well as Bob's amazing piss graph and Nish's feel-good victory and of course, Rosalind songs - nuff said. The live task is pretty heartbreaking with Nish squandering his chances of winning an episode, but at the same time, it's amazing seeing him break his egg straight away. There's only one flaw of the episode and a very nitpicky one that nobody cares about - in the coconut task, Bob and Aisling were scored incorrectly, with Bob being placed ahead of Aisling despite her coconut being further. (Oh and Greg should have awarded the songs 5-4, not 3-2 but I get that was the tradition in earlier series) As for the lowest-rated episode, I'm aware that the play task is one of the most hated ones in the history of the show - I think it's too long, but it's still okay and not even a bottom 5 task in the series. The fill-the-cup task is probably my favourite task in the series, and my favourite all-fail task (which isn't saying a lot since I don't usually like these occurences), and the coconut task is nice because Katherine actually outsmarts a task. Prize task was meh, I wasn't a fan of Daisy attempting to push a feminist agenda for her prize. The live task I did like because they changed the teams, which I wish they would do more in live team tasks. In my opinion, the worst TM episode is Series 11 Episode 3 - the prize task is nothing special, the sauna stone task is okay, the month mnemonic task had potential but was kind of boring, and the live task was the only good task of the episode (nursery rhyme charades). However - the worst, and probably THE all-time worst task - the security luggage task. When they uploaded the full task on their channel a few months ago I wrote an essay completely trashing the task 😂 Also, the energy throughout the studio is very off, to the point not even Mike can save it. I also give a dishonourable mention to S14E6 - besides Dara's iconic "Wait what?" moment, there's nothing to write home about this episode.

honestly DESERVED to s5e8. series 5 isn't my favorite overall, but that's my favourite tm episode of all time. the best way i can describe that episode is triumphant

No one is a bigger Richard Herring fan than me I've loved him and Stewart Lee since Fist of Fun was on radio 1 but unfortunately Rich was just not that funny on Taskmaster. He was a bit too good at the tasks for them to be really funny and he just didn't have enough banter with Greg in the studio. I think he was a big enough fan of the show to know if you argue with Greg you loose points but those jokey arguments are actually what's entertaining.

As always, I think you have stellar analysis. I know you try not to be too critical of anyone, but your comment at the end about the contestants not being the best I think was the major contributor to that series' issues. And maybe it would be better phrased as the contestants "didn't work well." I'm going to say "didn't work well" because most of them I've found hilarious or great in other work they've done, but for whatever factors, they just didn't seem to work great on Taskmaster. Maybe it was COVID, maybe it was people behind the scenes being burned out, or just one person not having a good time who ruined it for everyone else. I don't know. But for me, series 10 is perhaps one of the most forgettable series of Taskmaster so far, and I think it was mainly because the contestants didn't really pull it off. I mean, I LOVE Johnny Vegas and Katherine Parkinson, but both of them were kinda "meh."

Really surprised that series 6 is considered one of the worst. It's in my top 5.

As someone who's not get a version of Ghosts because, how they could handle things and has German Friends...I See this as a Win!!! I can finally advertise Ghosts to my Friends in Germany!!! I am really not Jealous German are getting a Ghosts before Australia, because Australia some things are going to be hard to handle!!!

Ok my unpopular opinion is that despite the fact that Thomas’s death episode is kinda sad and stuff, but it’s one of my fav episodes bc it is just so funny and btw Robin is my fav bc he is just so relatable to me

I won the ballet. Thinking I was getting free or discounted tickets I went to apply for it and saw it was £50 for an adult ok yeah that is fair. But £100 pp on a weekend. And like you said the travel and lodging for a 1hr expirance, it is not worth it. I'd rather play the board game and make up my own tasks than spend all that money

I completely agree. I won but didn't buy tickets. Like you, I thought the descriptions were vague, didn't understand how they were different, and I would've liked to have seen some photos/details so I knew what I would've been paying (a lot of) money for. If anyone is curious, I thought the "live experience" would be some sort of live show but where the audience would be really involved, with things to do on phones and in separate rooms between the studio segments, and then the top scorers would get to do a proper live task or stage stuff. I thought there'd maybe be four of those shows hosted by Greg and Alex. Having thought about it that would be really cool. It could involve watching/marking live tasks with a few previous series contestants, like an actual sort of comedy show, but the garden and museum seems like a nice idea, and I'm sure the people that go for the actual experience will have a lovely time.

I was also picturing the same thing before details came out. Was hoping it'd be a much more specialized, catered event, lasting far longer. But seeing that they're running each experience 38 times a day is insane. Also agreed about the Masterclass. HOW MANY different clip show variants do we need? Feels like they try a new version of it every month. Was really hoping we'd get more videos akin to the one of Alex showing how to "solve" the bowling ball task with the bananas.

Great video. Right from the off I was a little dubious about the live experience. As you said, it was very unclear, and the price is out of reach for many. I certainly wonder how many people are actually going to do it. I would've much preferred another Taskmaster Gathering. I attended it in 2022. The event was much clearer what it was: preshow activities, games that resulted in 6 people picked for a mini competition. And it was hosted by Alex, with plenty of other people making appearances. I can't remember the cost, but it definitely wasn't £100. Overall just a better structured idea that I'd much rather do again than a live experience that might lump you in with people you might not get on with, or tasks that aren't fun.

I think the reveal in later seasons that Hetti was aware someone close to her was gay in the early 1900’s actually explains her being so ready to accept Issac’s sexuality. Also the situation with the Alexa is some of the best production placement I’ve ever seen.

I'm late but two episodes a week was good for rewatchability AND the Aus/UK/NZ flow. Here all three series show on telly/ondemand in-between each other. So once NZ finished "early" then the latest UK was ready and while UK was showing, Aus was filming and was ready by the time that one finished, and by the time this current AUS is finished the NZ will air and so forth.

One of our shows in America has the Presidents song (The Animaniacs) so I decided I wanted to memorize the Monarchs song (and it took me a while and I had it stuck in my head for ages until I finally got it done. It's so catchy and along with the Richard III song (a lot of the songs with Jim in them are my favorites), and the Matildas and Henry II with all the ABBA references.

I love all these versions of Ghosts and hope that every country uses their own history to show their own flavor!

Yes I love Big Boys! Katy Wix is hilarious in it and it's one of my favourite shows. I don't see enough people talking about it. Makes me laugh and cry in equal measure. Very similar found family theme to Ghosts too 😊

I‘m interested to see what they do with Mary/Griet. Because there were like many noticeable witch trials and the „Hexenhammer“ etc. I‘ve been to an exhibition a few years ago about the german witch trials in the region where I live. It was really sad but a good exhibition. But also the actress that plays her, Meltem Kaptan, is a Turkish-german comedian and actress and I’m curious to see if they incorporate it in some way. 😊

I read the names before examining the picture and thought the teacher was the Kitty until I looked at her in the picture 🏹! So that’s interesting that there's less ghosts as there's no evidence of a Humphrey and we're already one down with Kitty! Like that the rest are pretty much carbon copies, one gender swap and one era swap (as WW2 in Germany is a touchy subject), really hope its avaliable here with subtitles!
