There's something about this season that just isn't hitting right for me. On the whole I haven't enjoyed it very much. None of the contestants are memorable or even particularly enjoyable or funny, and the tasks are becoming increasingly convoluted, as if they're running out of ideas and think going wacky and complicated is the way to go.
I often find that the series that follow my favorites would feel a little less good because of the contrast. I am loving this series and find everyone entertaining, funny and lovable, but s16 was one of my favorites and had 2 of the most unhinged contestants in the whole run of the show on, so it is very unlikely that s17 would top it. Only two times (in my personal ranking) 2 consecutive series were equally amazing: S4 and S5; and S13 and S14
I agree that something is missing, and maybe only in comparison to last season, but I feel it. I think everyone is a bit too cool for school. No one is freaking out, and we had a lot of that with the previous group.
Sophie and Nick are carrying this series for me, I find it a bit boring when people are really good at the tasks which John and Steve are without much deviation from just being really good. I also thought John would bring some good in studio banter but he's actually pretty quiet in reality.
Aargh I’m so far back, the series clashed with apprentice and tomorrow with Eurovision. Should’ve caught up at the bank holiday! So not watching this cos spoilers, but hope it’s still enjoyable 🙂

Poor Steve is getting disqualified almost every week. If it wasn't for that then John would have to look over his shoulder for sure.
