Very strange he didn't get DSQ The moment it happened i thought oh they are making it look like he won only to bring it up in the studio Because it was so obvious he ran to alex. Maybe it was discussed in the studio but cut for the broadcast. Maybe because he has been scored pretty low in other tasks it was maybe decided to be lenient on him.
I think I would have noticed the locket in my pocket too. I'm always putting my hands in my pockets and fiddling with whatever's in there because I always have something in my pockets. And I would have noticed if I felt something I didn't recognise. I'm not a fan of winner-takes-all tasks either, especially when it ends so quickly. I'd have thought if it ended so fast they could just make it a best of three or best of five or something to make it more worth everyone's while. Worth our while watching, worth the contestants' while doing it, and worth the stage crew's while setting it all up.
I'm so surprised that they let Baba get away with basically running. I understand being lenient on people that aren't doing well but this season is VERY close and this one episode had Baba move from 5th place to 2nd in the over all scores. Granted the 3 people in the back haven't hotdogged yet so I guess we'll see. Also, can we talk about the crazy number of winner take all live tasks this season? It's 3 out of 4 so far!
I don’t think Baba running is the same as potatogate. Joe Wilkinson was so proud right after doing it and after watching it in the studio. Walking around on stage with the audience cheering. That’s what made taking the points away so funny. I don’t think Baba would have cared anymore than the other times he got low points. So unless this would have put him in the overall lead, which I don’t think is possible with his points. It didn’t really matter to me.
I think they always try to let each contestant win at least once, and this was Baba's only chance. So they made a behind the scenes decision to allow it before filming and edited around it.
As an American I love the British accents, yours included, I think Emma’s voice sounds almost exactly like Charlotte Ritchie’s. Anyone else hear it. Am I way off.
yeah i totally agree with you about baba, i was very surprised as well! perhaps they were going for more of the same vibe as the fishbowls task from series 4 when one of the instructions was to comment on your attempt in the 3rd person throughout, but then didnt punish joe for not doing so even when hugh brought it up (but maybe that was because there was a separate punishment waiting to be revealed, who knows). i also thought about the potato task when thinking about this, and reading other comments and hearing your thoughts, i feel like they are sort of comparable because both contestants had something on the line - while for joe it was only five points but also the pride and studio celebrations, for baba it was his ten points and his only chance at doubling his points throughout the series, and i think his reaction in the vt showed that he was definitely very happy with how he did so i was sort of expecting them to crush his celebrations again. its certainly an interesting conundrum, and do understand what someone else has said here about baba seeming a bit too argumentative at times and i have got that on occasion, but i think its hard to say what would have happened had this been brought up. either way, im glad i wasnt the only one to be so confused by this, and lovee the video as always!
I totally agree about Baba should have been disqualified, I was also shocked there was no mention of it in the studio - I wonder if the outtakes will show anything. I would definitely have won the 'locket' task as I always have a packet of lockets in my handbag, it would be easy to have transferred those to a pocket :)
I think Baba (and Alex) should have gotten 1 point for calling Nikes "Nykes" instead of "Nye Keys" but I might be biased because I'm from the place Nike started.
He definitely should have been disqualified. Baba has rubbed me the wrong way a few times this series. I don’t like when people disrespect Greg (LAH, yes, but you don’t diss the TM) and basically threatening to fight him struck me as immature. I think he thinks he’s a bigger star than the show itself, and he most definitely isn’t. I almost wonder if he’s being combative behind the scenes and that’s why they didn’t think it was worth challenging him on the maze task. On the other hand, Rosie continues to delight me more and more. You can see tasks take more physical effort for her and not only does she not complain, she is trying harder to win tasks and be entertaining than anyone else in the cast. And I loved Jack and the wheelbarrow. This could have also won a French short film award. Such ennui!

I loved the locket in the pocket task being a reference to a banter segment from Series 8. The guess what's in Alex's pocket game with Greg.

Maybe they thought since he wore the hot dog suit it wouldn't be as fun if he didn't get the points. We'll see if anything like this happens again.

Wow, you not knowing that phrase makes me feel so old, which I am…
He should be double disqualified.
