Having recently seen League of Gentlemen largely because of Steve's appearance on this show (I was probably going to eventually, but I watched it now because of this), I'm not surprised at all that Steve came up with that, I could even see that being a bit in League of Gentlemen if Reece Shearsmith and Mark Gatiss replaced Nick Mohammed and Alex Horne
Might as well do a review... this wasn't an amazing closer, certainly better than the series 10 one but I felt the first two taped tasks looked too visually similar and quite trivial even if multiple contestants did badly on them both, though the prize task was solid, the team task finale was entertaining even if it doesn't quite live up to the hotel task (and I was hoping Steve and Nick would get another win since they've been the least successful team in the show if I'm not mistaken). Although I will say the live task is probably the best one in a finale since series 12 with the monster noises etc., and it was great to see Nick get one last victory. Also it was so satisfying to see Sophie get her first win in the finale, being the first to do so since Asim Chaudhry. The series overall has had quite a few complaints, and it's definitely a drop off from 16, feeling very similar to 6 not living up to 5, and the lack of studio banter was a main detractor, although improved leaps and bounds in the second half. A lot of people weren't big on John as he's a clear example of a contestant prioritising victory over entertainment, and while I prefer him over similar champions like Richard Herring and Mae Martin, I don't find him very memorable. Also as petty as it may sound I'm quite disappointed he overtook Dara O' Briain's score since I consider Dara (alongside Ed) to be the quintessential TM champ, with the perfect balance of competence, competitiveness and entertainment. The tasks I would have to give a slight edge over 16 despite finding 16 to be superior in every other way as this one didn't have too many for me that stuck out as weak (the worst probably being the baby carrying one), while 16 did have two I thought were very poor, namely the candle liquid and clown cards ones. Overall, probably a bottom 5 series but still had some stand-out moments, like all of them to be honest.
Wish I had enjoyed this season more than I did. It had its moments, but I believe that it was overall forgettable. I have enjoyed all of your recaps. Thanks from the USA!
This was perhaps my least favourite series of TM - it was bottom 3 the entire way through, but that shit skit may have clinched it the bottom spot. The only reason it might not be bottom is how much I hate the pizza ordering task from series 2

Steve was the mvp. John, i wasnt keen on, too interested in winning. Joanne was ok, Sophie insane and Nick is loveable
