Knowing the entire background and significance of this performance, tears still stream down my face when I watch her clench her fist with determination and try to belt out the lyrics “I’ll be there” and her voice slightly cracks in the process. For me, this is one of defining moments that I recognized her humanity. The 8 year old became a role for this 62 year right then. A few years later she still is.

I just want to say what a joy it is to listen to Angelina speak Norwegian..it’s beautiful language spoken by a beguiling voice..her singing is precociously talented even at this young age and continues to evolve! Thx again Aron 🙏

Now you understand why Mitch was laughing when the paper "snow" was thrown onto him.There is almost always bloopers after the "Subscribe" screen. The room is actually a spare bedroom in Mitch and Scott's apartment, they set it up to record their SuperFruit videos, which why there is all the sound and video equipment. As others have said, they were playing around with this soundtrack, and spur of the moment called one of their cameramen, and said "get over here now", and brilliance and hilarity ensued. I know others have suggested this, but I have to explain all this so you understand, On there Scott talked Mitch into doing his favorite song from his favorite Broadway musical, the Play is called Wicked, the song is Defying Gravity. The play is the Wizard of Oz told from the perspective of the witches. At least that is what I read on an ad for the play, I don’t know for sure if it’s 100% correct. In this song one witch Elphaba (strange name I know) is arguing with Glenda about learning how to be the first witch to fly on a broom. (the name Defying Gravity makes sense now). You kind of need to understand all of this to not only understand the song, but their "costumes". This is probably the fastest version from her that I've heard. She likes to slow things down, and apparently had to persuade the guitarist on The View to take it slower before she was satisfied. Here she probably just went along with what the hosts were doing. But it this really live? An 8-year-old on a late-night show? Oh well, I guess Angelina can sing anything anytime. She's a true professional after all.

The perfection of this version, is in the imperfection of the piano and her voice. THIS particular version is one of my favorite videos of all time.

This is actually the starting point among the many Fly me to the moon's and it shows very nicely how quickly the development progressed at that early time. "Gloomy Sunday" audition was in fact prerecorded months before it was broadcast on March 7th 2014, so it was still 7 years old at that time. TV2 broadcast a total of seven shows with auditions starting in January and the last one was broadcast on March 21st, earlier in the day than this appearance of Angelina on the late night show. Within those 14 days, Angelina's audition video already had 5 million views on YT (which is the number of inhabitants of Norway). This talk show appearance was four weeks BEFORE the semifinals and six months before The View on ABC and you can only marvel at the progress in that short time. Obviously it is faster than on The View, but she still had enough room for a perfect ending here. She had already slowed it down in Kongsberg at Barnivalen and also at the company concert. Dimlylit's list has almost all individual performances, but there are some recordings that contain several songs and are therefore not included. This talk show was quite popular in Norway and several times had more than one million viewers, so it's a big "stage" and more importantly: the two hosts were well known to children and young people, so Angelina certainly felt comfortable having well-known people as interviewers. And you can feel the enthusiasm of the presenters, especially Thomas Numme. While Harald Rønneberg is a humorist, Thomas is more than a trained radio/TV journalist. He was the presenter at NRK for Children's and youth TV programs and led both "Melodi Grand Prix Junior" competition on NRK as well as Norwegian version of „Idol“ on TV2. Like Angelina he took piano lessons as a child and also learned to play the guitar early on. In the late 1980s, Numme was vocalist, guitarist and songwriter in the band “The Legends”. In the early 1990s, he was the frontman, vocalist and songwriter in the band “Karius&Baktus”. So he was able to assess this performance very well from a musical point of view. btw this talk show recording has collected 20 million views within the last ten years.

Loved this song when written and performed by Radiohead but every cover I heard until this one by Pau failed to really capture the raw emotion and pain of the song. It needs to be stripped right back and this cover delivers that. In fact I know believe this is the best ever Creep performance including the original.

It didn’t just happen, I’ve told you she trains her voice 4-6 hours a day every day 52 weeks a year since she was 3-4 years old. When you get to her TikToks, you’ll see her training while singing songs.

Fun reaction and analysis! It's arguably easier to play piano and sing than to play drums and sing, but I think other significant factors include her age at the time and how quickly she worked it up. I won't be one to agree that there are a lot of better covers, and I've heard several, but music is a matter of taste, right? For me, there's no other cover that as effectively and convincingly conveys all the emotions imbedded in these lyrics, and that's my number one priority in a musical performance. Some are better from a technical perspective but, for me, none match Pau's raw and authentic passion. Short version, I've heard no other version of this, including the original, that makes me cry every time I hear it!
