She not only has always had high aspirations, she seems to hold herself to a nearly impossible high standard, either in the studio or singing live. That in itself must 'weigh heavy' on her shoulders. Of course, we're the beneficiaries! My favorite vocal moments in the studio version are the fry in 'sometimes' and her gorgeous descending run singing 'sadness'. This was one of the first originals of hers that I heard and I couldn't get enough of it....still can't!
@@pjg58x Taste is subjective, but I love both versions. Her live version in Norway in the summer of 2022 gives us the best performance in my opinion. Especially since it was recorded professionally by NRK.
Great reaction, as always. Love this version of 7th Heaven with its more playful theme. The song is absolutely a killer and of course, we'll never go wrong with Angelina's vocals. Peace and love to all the angels.
Glad you loved the song. It's fun and playful, but it also packs a punch lyrically. Don't miss out on Oslo, though. That's her second original, and it's at the concert with the military band, and it happens to be my second favourite Angelina song!
❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 Even though I love almost everything she has done, this is probably my favorite Angelina song. It just makes me feel good. It falls heavy because it it a great struggle to get there.
I guess you like this song😂. Angelina spoke of what she wanted to do and be including singing for the world and singing at the Nobel Peace Prize all have come true. She is a very strong young lady that I think some so-called fans are not getting and often made uncalled for comments ❤❤👣❤❤
Not true fans. Been a fan for over 8 years now and it is easy to parse out the "so-called fans". There are literally 1000s and 1000's of recognizable fans in the fanbase over the years...
Let's only hope she can maintain this philosophy going ahead in her life with all the pressures that will come to her and the betrayal's God forbid. I believe she is strong enough to weather any storm but I pray she never has to.
Glad you did this video first. I love the playfulness between Angelina and the girl playing the waitress. The live in studio version is better musically. BTW, in case you aren't aware, Angelina and Toby released a rendition of What a Wonderful World yesterday. No video yet, just audio. It is GORGEOUS! Brought tears to my eyes. Ya gotta hear it, Aaron!
The "polyphonic" ability AJ has is absolutely right on. The first time I was really struck by this was when she sang "Fly Me to the Moon" on The View -- listen to her sing "please be true" the last time. She sits on the tonic note and moves from a second up to a fifth in her vibrato without a hitch -- at 8 years old!
Peggy Lee, 1958, Fever! I was 8 years old but remember her on tv performing this song. Funny how some things imprint on your mind. How Angelina ever came up with this vibe is crazy, but her innocent story of how to live life is amazing! Yes, Dylan M is still in the mix almost three years after her 12 year old What Is Life. The first incarnation of that song was on her first album and then live stage performance in Norway with the large orchestra.
Yes, I have three versions. Seven has always been an important number in her life. Seven years old when she first appeared on stage. First released on March 7, She is Christian. Seven heavens from the Bible. Much more. 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

-- Angelina co-wrote 7th Heaven as a 15-year old -- The song was produced by Stargate which is Norwegians Tor E. Hermansen and Mikkel S. Eriksen and is based in LA. They have won 4 Grammy Awards. They also worked with Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Celine Dion, Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Whitney Houston, and others -- Angelina was interviewed about the song with some of the key points being: [Angelina said: “The initial idea for ‘7th Heaven’ was that I love the number 7, and ‘heaven’ is such a powerful word and makes you dream away. I collaborated with Stargate to create ‘7th Heaven’. The background story of making this song was that I had this melody that I played for Tor and Mikkel and it turned out that they loved the idea and it went pretty smooth from there to the finished song. We definitely tried many different elements to feel the right sound to it.”] [Angelina believes: “Life has ups and downs, and you always have to be ready for whatever is coming up. The song is a reminder to look at everything in a positive light and not get down on yourself. Most importantly-no matter what you’re doing-don’t give up. It’s also meant to make you dance.”] [Angelina tells how studio video will look: “The visual will look something like old school meets new school kinda vibe to it. I love the styles they had before and I want to bring it back again.”] [Angelina revealed that she is often inspired to create music from personal pain: “Strong emotions, mainly painful ones, often make me write music.”]
I have seen it said that Angelina's grandfather told her to live life such that she had no regrets. My interpretation of the lyrics in several of her originals is based on the line here "When I look in the mirror I want to love the person looking back at me." A number of her later videos have mirrors showing her performing. I take it that this a point of introspection and that she is happy doing what it is she does.
Regarding What Is Life, I think you only listened to the homemade version. You should also check out the studio version, with full band, from her album It’s Magic that she recorded the year before at age 11.
Hey Aron! I went back and watched this again, probably because it's one of my favorite Angelina songs- maybe even The Favorite. I became an angel just prior to Old Enough and my first reaction to it was "oh my God they have overproduced it!" I thought it was too synthetic sounding as opposed to her earlier traditional sounding music. Sorry, I am not any kind of musician and can't explain exactly what I mean. But the more I listened to it the better it got. I know many people like her younger music so I can understand your wife's feeling. When you get to Driving Home For Christmas which was released close to the same time have her listen to the title track which Angelina recorded at one year on from Old Enough. It is a much more soft jazzy feeling and she might see that Angelina can do much more than is evident with Old Enough as she has grown into a young adult. What does she think about If I Were A Boy or Bad Valentine? Just with that last song she sings it in such different ways that have a completely different feel to them. I check every day for new reactions but forgot that you said you were going to be away. Hope you enjoyed yourself.😊
I think the instruments in this are computer generated. In the "Official Studio Performance" there are real instruments being played & there is even a back-up singer. I much prefer the music in the OSP over this Music Video, but the MV acts out the story, which is great.
It’s Ran Christy playing both Piano and Guitar. So that’s why that sound puzzles you. 4 instruments. Piano, Guitar, Drums , and Standing Bass. It’s all in the ( Studio Recording
When this was first released I listened to it a lot but, it wasn't until my son asked me what it was about (he had not listened to it) and I tried to read the lyrics to him that I realized nothing rhymes. I don't think I had ever heard a song before that had no rhyming lines at all. It's actually easier to sing it than it is to say the words. I then started really watching for that in her songs and found there are many places where she just ignores the "rules" and does her own thing and the results are amazing.
See her interview about 7th Heaven during her 2022 concerts in Norway! 🇳🇴🇺🇸💯 ua-cam.com/video/HKK66K5u1Fc/v-deo.html It continues to reveal who she is as a person and artist! 🇳🇴🇺🇸
Angelina is 15 in the performance. Since this is a music video to the studio recording, those in the video may not have actually played on the recording. The “waitress” is just an actress and did not really sing. The backing vocals are by Angelina.
Well I commented in THAT version that that sounded like a guitar but IIRC, it's different here, sounded different to me when I heard the live studio version
Latest news is that Angie is paying millions to exit her Republic contract. It has been as if she's an industry outsider. Could be that she has been protected from the Gatekeepers that are part of the industry machine.
That is just a music video on top of the studio recording of the audio. I.e., Dylan Meek did not play the bass we hear on this, he just acted. The lyrics video had the same audio as this, but the studio performance is different. There is a 95 second snippet of Killing Me Softly with just Dylan accompaning her on piano from this set: ua-cam.com/video/QjnzD3HuOH4/v-deo.html
You seem to have a knack for watching the least favorite version first. Now I see that you are choosing the official version first. My view is that the official one is usually not the best. I think they try to attract a larger audience with these videos. Anyway, at least glad you are going to watch them all. Will be interested to see which one is your favorite. Thanks, Aaron.
I agree with your wife in preferring Angelina's younger performances. I think too often (although not in this wonderful song), she adds too much breathiness, fry, and other embellishments. Just because a little spice is good does not mean that a lot of spice is better. It should enhance, not dominate. I love Angelina. I listen to her every day. But i don't see how she will connect with kids her age by doing Vegas style shows with long gowns, long fingernails, and glitzy makeup. I hope that this is just a youthful, exploratory phase. She is very lucky to have Sara and Mery and Juliette (and she knows it e.g. Shield). The teens and twenties can be difficult years. Best wishes to all of you. "Life should be lived with hope."
I personally hadn't but since you asked the question, I stopped and pondered. For like negative milliseconds lol. No, really there is zero doubt in my mind that she 100% is controlling precisely what she is doing and how and the techniques behind it from a much earlier age, I'd say by 10 for sure. That's of course just my interpretation
@@A-AronReacts I agree with you Aaron, she is in total control of what she is singing. I refer you to Every Time We Say Goodbye at age 10. Straight voice, no embellishments.
