    Great video Justin. Loved the edit and relaxed feel to it. Me and Judith watched the whole series and its great to see another persons perspective and thoughts on the trail. It has a lot of charm as you said. Not the wild remoteness of some trails, but lovely rolling hills, quaint villages and historical sites. It is also not as easy as you might think, there is plenty of ascent to do. Thanks for taking us along.

    Once again, thank you Justin for the beautiful images you planted in our heads 😊 One really can't tell you're emotionally attached to the region, hahaha. The boggy bits from the first part do look quite awful but the rest made completely up for it 🙌 There's not much I can recommend, apart from the John o'Groats Trail, which I think is now in a much better condition than it was two years ago. It really is spectacular once you get past Tain... Cheers from the Peak District - last day today 😔

      Danke schoen Stefan 🙏 I would like to one day return to the parts of day 2 and day 3 that we missed in March due to bad ground conditions. I’m sure they would also be great. I loved the second half of the trail in good weather, I think you can see that in the videos 😁 My preference for trail #10 is Scotland, and my friend lives in Wick so you never know! @@JustinWhiting9 I was in Wick a few weeks ago - it's such a sad affair, this little town. But I did stay there on my walk after an unplanned 45 km day 🙄 Yes, the weather was brilliant the last two weeks. We first spent a week in North Yorkshire, close to Darlington, now a week in Castleton. It's the second time we are here - we have a great place where we can stay with the dog and there so many walks around here. Unfortunately, my wife is scared of heights which somewhat limits the selection 😂 Yesterday I asked for permission to do a solo hike - left here at 4.30 in the morning to do a 20 mile loop over Kinder Scout. It was wonderful to be up there all by myself. The first person I met at about 7.30... Anyway, I am babbling 🙃

      Very good! 👌 Walking alone is a completely different experience, and far better. You see and hear so much more. You think deeply about things. You feel part of the landscape. Most family and friends simply can’t understand it. They think it’s an unnecessary hardship and recommend taking a friend, a dog, my family, a group of people. No, no, no, no! On my day 4 video of the EHW I give a summary of my thoughts on the trail. Wild camping is possible, but there are fewer suitable spots than you think. EHW is remote, almost no other hikers. GGW is more sociable with more hikers, canoeists and people boating in the canal. I was lucky and almost no midges, so I don’t know. EHW is higher up so windier, maybe fewer midges.

    Hello...I m planing my first long distance hike in Scotland,and can't figure out which one .. whw seems to be busy with people at this time of year and fact that in some places can't wild camp gives me a headache..the only challenge for me would be midges, otherwise I m not looking for easy trek. Which one would you recommend? Great Glenn way?

      All the trails in Scotland are quiet except the WHW. The GGW is easy but still beautiful. It could be a good choice for your first trail I think.

    • @JustinWhiting9
      @JustinWhiting9 2 місяці тому

      Yes, WHW has wonderful and varied scenery but the paths are busy. There are campsites within the ‘no wild camping zone’ along Loch Lomond so it’s ok.

    A wonderful video of that beautiful Loch, Kirk and surrounding stunning countryside… We attended a family wedding at that lovely church last week. On a recce a couple of days before, we too stood in front of Rob Roy’s grave. Nearly 300 years later we were moved to see little mementos/gifts still being left in his memory. I wondered if the admiration was for his crimes, his bravery, his standing against the British or his acceptance of The Union? Or simply the addition of a seemingly romantic, charmed life due to Sir Walter Scot’s romantic novel. 😢We puzzled awhile about the words “MacGregor Despite them” too, but then we saw a board with information about the family. Some members of that name were apparently guilty of many and varied crimes including theft, sheep rustling etc, but apparently it was, by law, enough to simply carry the name ‘MacGregor’ to have you arrested and hanged. NO trial required! Who can blame MacGregors then for use of the phrase “Despite Them”! We’re home now, but look forward to our next visit to the movingly beautiful, Historic Highlands.

    Hello, thank you for the valuable information on how to set up and configure this tent. I recently purchased this model and, I confess, I didn't set up the tent correctly, leaving it very uneven. Now with this video, I know how to assemble it correctly. Thank you one more time. And...sorry for my terrible English, as I'm Brazilian and used Google Translate.

      Nice one. I’ve done those trails and others. Check my channel page. 👍 Regarding water, yes travelling light and filtering is good, until you’re sick, dehydrated or exhausted (or all 3). Then it’s horrible. Everywhere else on the Skye Trail has lots of water, but I advise you play safe on the Trotternish Ridge and carry extra. It’s the hardest day’s walking I’ve ever done.

Funnily enough, I put my L2pro up today to repair some cat claw holes in the flysheet 😱 A small dab and swirl of sealant inside and out will fix them up. I know this because I fixed some rogue stitch holes from the factory in the same way 4 years ago and not a single leak since. I have one and I love it also. Bear in mind when you are on the South Downs Way or many hikes in the summer it is almost impossible to pitch this tent in my experience. 1 the ground is too hard for the pegs and 2 you rarely find a flat lawn on a long hike. For that reason I use a free standing tent despite the extra weight
