Here's my unsponsored review on the Beatbot iSkim Ultra! A high-end premium automatic pool skimmer with a high-end price tag! The most expensive automatic pool skimmer on the market right now... But is it worth it?! NO! Not for the average pool owner! Any other skimmer would do just fine and at a much lower price! However, there is a market for the iSkim Ultra. If you're willing to pay the pric...

Gosvor Pivot Review

The Gosvor Pivot is the lightest robotic pool cleaner I've ever used that cleans both the floors and walls of the pool! Designed with smaller pools in mind, the Gosvor Pivot is an in-between type of cleaner. Better than a basic floor cleaner but not as complicated as a full on robotic pool cleaner with extra unnecessary features. Great for above-ground pools and simple in-ground pool setups! Yo...

Wybot Battle! C1 or S2?

Here's a comparison review between the two new current models of the Wybot for the year. We have the Wybot C1 and the Wybot S2. Both very good cleaners, so pick the one that's right for you! In short, the Wybot C1 is the base model for the year. It is better for up to medium sized pools and it costs half the price of the S2. However, it does NOT include an ultra-fine filter option if you need i...

Aiper Surfer S1 Pool Skimmer Review
I got this robot because in the old model I was able to choose what I wanted to do so this is a giant rip-off. I have heard of upgrading not downgrading. Not only that - but - my last robot did not last very long because the filter cover got broken shortly after I got it because it was of poor quality. Also the part at the bottom just fell off but I got it again because I was familiar with it. This company wants extra money for basic things and if you buy a new filter and battery it cost the same as a new robot. I will not buy from this company again.
Here is my review. My Polaris VRX IQ+ spent 95% of the time at Leslie's for repair. I bring it home. It cleans for 5 minutes and Error 10 again. Polaris sent me a free replacement. That was nice of them. However, the replacement worked for just 1 month. After that, it's the same thing. Ongoing repairs and ongoing Error 10. I have no kids, I check my pool levels twice a week with a Taylor Test kit. If the Polaris isn't **attempting** to clean my pool, it stays in my climate controlled garage. Now that I have two Polaris VRX IQ+ they both still spend 99% of the time broken. Today, they both error 10 after cleaning for 5 minutes. I've decided to give up on them both and trash them both today. My suction side pool cleaner is back in the pool again. Permanently this time. I'll never own another Polaris product.
Love this reveiw very informative thank you. I have a question I really want to buy the Beta SE Plus being a newer model more reliable from reviews. Would a converter (travel Plug Adapter) work on this as I live in Australia I cannot find anywhere even the manual dosent state what voltage it takes like 240v I'm wondering has anyone purchased & tried the travel plug from Australia or is there three prong part that goes into the unit ( like in your video ) lead with an AUS plug thanks for any assistance you can give me.
I really love the feature of eco mode and being able to leave it in the pool. Some corded options also do this. However I am really concerned about the chlorine of the pool and the sun degrading the machine over time. Seems like after a season, the chlorine would have started to eat away at the plastics and rubber.
It does, but that's all pools(chlorine or salt) and all cleaners the longer you leave it in the pool. Most modern day cleaners like the Liberty are built to handle it better than in the past. But regardless, yes, they do break down over time. Just not nearly as fast. I'm going on year 2 with the Liberty and there is some noticeable physical wear on the Liberty. Function wise though, still works great and does the job.
@imdefinitelydavid that's good to know and I appreciate your videos. I plan to get a liberty at the start of the next season. I want to try a cordless one since I have a small pool but I also want one made by a company that stands behind their products. That's why I'm leaning towards the Liberty instead of something like an aiper that has a lot of mixed reviews out there.
I totally understand that. To this day, my favorite cleaner to run during the fall/winter season(surrounded by trees) is the Dolphin Premier. It's corded, but I've had that since 2015 and only had to replace the tracks and rings a few times. Maytronics/Dolphin may be more expensive but they have thr best reputation and totally worth the price.
Does it pick up fine dirt? I get heaps of dust where i am and mostly what i need to clean is dirt piles at the bottom of my pool
It picks up some, not all. Finer dust would need an ultra-fine filter and unfortunately this model doesn't have one. I heard rumors of them adding one but haven't seen it to date.
@imdefinitelydavid thanks!
For most pools, the C1 does the job.
How does build quality compare?
How does the build quality compare between dolphin and the poolmate?
Physically I would say Dolphins are built more solid/harder plastic components. The Poolmate feels thinner I would say. It's hard to tell how long these will last because they're still considered new in the pool industry
Anyone using pool cleaner hose weights to make sure your Beta does not get stuck on the cleaner hose?
Does one do better than the others with grass clippings?
Debris wise, they all pick up the same debris, large and small. My grass flies into the pool each time I mow and they all do well. It's just those extra features like edge cleaning that make one skimmer look like it performs better than the other without edge cleaning.
David - in your videos you note that you use a corded and a cordless unit dependent upon need.... what is your go to corded unit? you note that you used to use the premier .. what are you grabbing now?
Believe it or not, the Premier is still my go to for the off season! It's been years now and the Premier is still going strong. There are other units like the Polaris VRXiq+ or the Lydsto P1 that are newer with wifi and smart features but in all reality, I rarely use those features. They also don't come with as many filter options like the Premier. I think the Premier and CC Plus from Dolphin are some of the best corded cleaners on the market yes, even with their older models. Still works better than newer corded cleaners
I have full width steps that lead up to a 10 3/4" deep baha ledge. Trying to find a cleaner that will climb the steps and work on the ledge. Tried a liberty 300 and it just stays in the deep end. See you reviewed a lot and watched a lot of your vids...Quantum, Scuba Pro, or Wybot look like they MAY work. Maybe you have some insight?
So you have a set of steps that lead directly to your baja shelf correct? You don't have like a side wall away from the steps the cleaner can also climb onto the ledge. If that's the case, out of the 3 cleaners you mentioned I'd go with the Wybot. The Quantum is good but not as many features as the other two. It also spends a lot of time moving off main drains. I find it climbs walls/steps much less often than the other two. Scuba Pro would do well climbing I'm sure, but weight wise it's a heavy machine. Definitely feels the most premium though out of the three if you don't mind the weight and size of the pro. I would assume you mean the wybot S2 since it's around the other two price ranges. I LOVE the S2. Literally, it does really well for the price and features. It's lightweight and climbs steps to the baja just fine. If anything, you could buy the cleaner off amz and if it doesn't work out, return it from amz. If you buy it directly from the manufacturer website you might end up going through loops trying to return their cleaner. I haven't had issues, but other people have mentioned it. Hope that helps!
@@imdefinitelydavid Thanks for the info. I do have an 18" wide ledge that runs down one side of the pool to the shelf. The liberty would not climb the stairs or run the ledge to the shelf. If I go Wybot I was thinking the corded L1...although the M1 with solar panel looks promising. After dealing with the Liberty, I am not a fan of charging!
I would be reluctant with the M1 because technically it's an older model now. I actually was able to try it out back then and it wasn't great at all. The L1 would be like the Nautilus CC Plus but upgraded. One thing about that L1 is that the last few times I've used it it's been iffy with the wifi connection. It didn't do this at first but as of recently its taken me a few tries to connect it when running.
Can you do a video that displays your top 3 robots (both corded top 3 and cordless top 3) that are on the market? Also your opinion on the top 3 brands? I’d love one that also discusses the longevity of the robot/brand. Thanks in advance!
I'd have to sit down and really think about this! I could possibly do it if price wasn't an issue. A lot of the times people want the best cleaner for the best price. It's hard to value one feature over another, if it's worth more than say a different feature. Brand wise, I've been trying to use ALL of my cleaners at least once a month just to get more use out of it since I have so many. My situation is totally different than the normal pool owner so longevity wise, especially with the newer brands, I feel like I can't give a good recommendation. I mean, for me, all of the cleaners are working well so far regardless of brand... but I don't use them normally like a regular owner does.
Will it suck up sand?
It picks up some but if you get a lot, it would have a hard time getting all the sand. You would need a cleaner with an ultra-fine filter. Unfortunately I think this model no longer exists either. There's a newer model called the Crab that's very similar. Also doesn't do well with a lot of sand.
Great review. Thank you
Do you have a video with the AIRROBO Pool robot?
Here in Florida we clean 24 /7 it work great !!
did you use this long term or just a week to review? looking for long term reviews
I still have all my cleaners. Although I don't use it every week, I'd say I run every cleaner once at least every month. I know that's not the norm for anyone else but I have so many to choose from and to test. The Freedom works great as a plug and play. Just charge it, run it, and then take it out and repeat for the next run. It's built solid like other Polaris cleaners. But again, I haven't used it daily for the last few years. Good luck! Hope that helps
Clearly you have no experience with pool cleaners to give this advice.
My 40 years in the pool business tell me you do not want a lithium battery under the water. Something bad will eventually happen.
Is it me, or is the debris in each of the devices dry? I would have thought it would be wet, coming out of the pool.
It's still wet, but not sopping wet. The baskets inside each skimmer drain quickly once out of the pool. You can still see each basket dripping a little before showing the debris.
The best skimmer comparison video I've seen. Thank you
Thank you! 😃
Great full featured video review
Will it clean shallow sun deck areas? The one we have when on wall cleaning mode it will shut off when it gets to the shallow areas.
It probably won't clean a very shallow deck(no cleaner will, at least the ones I've tested) because it needs enough water to move in and out the machine and shallow water doesn't have enough surface area.
Our shallow sundeck is about 8 inches deep and is 7’x15’. I am not concerned with having that area cleaned, just looking for a cleaner when cleaning the walls it doesn’t shut down when it gets to the sundeck area. Would be nice if it did go back to deeper water or if could program to clean floor/walls and not go up on sundeck and shutdown. Thank you for the great reviews you do!
Instead of the S1 Pro, the normal S1 would do just fine I think. Even the Wybot C1 would be a good choice. I've never had either of those two get stuck on my ledge. They both know to back up and not power down.
We have this cleaner and works well until it gets to sundeck area, since that area is shallow it automatically shuts off. Also in the 6 months we have used it I had to replace 1 track that broke 2 months ago. They sent a replacement a couple weeks after I contacted them. Now the motor isn't working so it just does circles. If you have shallow sun deck area, just now if wall cleaning mode it will randomly stop working once it gets to the shallow area. Would be nice to find one that will work in shallow areas as well.
How shallow is your deck area? I have two small steps that all cleaners won't climb because it's only about 6 inches worth of water. But what's strange is that the cleaner should sense that and back out before getting stuck and shutting off. I have another area that's about 12-14 inches of water and most cleaners that climb will be able to get up there fine.
I have the SE version and it has blown me away with how well the solar power works (and how great it cleans). It runs day and night and never run out of power in the 2 years I've owned it. Granted I live in Arizona and we rarely have a sunless day.
Thanks for this, I just got one and live in AZ too. I have been taking it out at night and wondering if any sort of maintenance is needed. Sounds like not much!
Nice review thanks! Question, in eco mode is it set to do walls and floor evenly? Also, in floor only mode will still climb the stairs to clean them or is that considered part of wall mode ? Thanks
In eco mode it will only clean the floors of the pool. Doesn't climb walls/ledges/waterline. Turns on every other day for about a week. On floor only mode, it will clean only the floor as well. No ledges/walls/waterline. But in floor mode it runs longer than in eco mode in one run. It will only climb the walls in "Floor and Wall" mode or "Wall mode". Hope that helps!
Thanks for the review. I am looking to purchase a pool robot. I see your pool has tanning ledges. I have two ledges that only have 7 inches of water. I also have wide stairs that are 12 inches deep. Is there a pool vacuum that will clean the tanning ledges and stairs as well as the pool and waterlines?
Unfortunately there hasn't been one cleaner I've used that will clean a shallow ledge of 6 or 7 inches. It's just too shallow for cleaners to circulate water in and out and to move about
Hoping yours doesn't go the way that Video Bob's went and caught fire and burned his house. I wouldn't trust this thing. (just spreading awareness)
I haven't heard of a pool skimmer catching fire but I have heard of a few cordless robotic cleaners. It's always an issue with water seeping into the charging port. Like hidden water. Where you think the cleaner is dry but there's some moisture somewhere that gets inside. Thanks for the info
Any ideas how to fix if Wybot will not charge?
Sounds like a bad battery. Did you try contacting Wybot?. It should still be under warranty. The battery is actually easy to access and replace unlike older models
very helpful for my pool in France.Chhers my friend.
what situations would you NEED an ultra fine filter? Algae?
Algae, dirt, sand and any other smaller debris is picked up much better by an ultra-fine filter.
Hi David. I am ready to purchase a cordless pool cleaner. I live in So. California so we use the pool year round. My budget is $700. It can be higher if need be. Please help😂 I would live a recommendation from you!
My current favorite cleaner is the Wybot S2. It's cordless, lightweight, lots of features. I think it's about 100 dollars more but out of all the cleaners I have right now, it's my preference. Also, if you don't need an ultra-fine filter take a look at the Wybot C1 or Aiper Scuba S1. Those are less expensive and will do the job well assuming no need for an ultra-fine filter. Hope that helps!
@imdefinitelydavid Should I get a skimmer as well? Or bust my budget and get an all in one? Btw...I really appreciate your videos and thank you for the quick response.
I love the cordless cleaner plus skimmer combo. It works amazingly well during SWIM SEASON. But during the winter months with less sunlight it gets annoying charging the skimmer to run it the next day if you want to use it(I would rather just use a pool net and skim rather than charge every day). If you close your pool, you don't have to worry about that. But swim season, with solar charging, it's awesome and makes maintenance a breeze. Glad I can help! 😃
Just wanted to warn others that the machine might be good in the beginning but it will likely conk out before the warranty is up and this company has TERRIBLE customer service (in other words, they won't honor the warranty). I have been in touch with BBB and other agencies for months and still fighting over our Shark. My advice is to pick another company ... any other company.
I fully agree with you. They don't answer anybody.
I got mine today and very impressed so far. Does the cleaning pattern matter much? If so, can you make a recommendation which may be most effective?
The pattern is dependant on the shape of your pool I'd say. If you have more of a curvier base as opposed to sharper angle you'd choose one pattern over the other. Only way to know which is best is to test it for your specific pool really
@@imdefinitelydavid thanks for the insight!
Hey David, after reviewing these 3 how would you rate the Aiper skimmer to these 3
The Aiper is a good choice. I would rank it equal to the Betta skimmer. I didn't think it was necessary to add the Aiper in there with the mix of these kind of different class(cost difference) cleaners. It would definitely be on the level of the Betta though. Originally when I first used the Aiper it worked amazing. The app worked perfect for a few months. But since then it pretty much crapped out and I can no longer log into it. You pay slightly more for the Aiper over the Betta because of the app features and since that quit on me, the Betta would be my preferred choice over the two. Cleans the same as the Aiper but costs less because no app features.
WORKED GREAT FOR 3 MONTHS AND STOPPED WORKING.
Sorry to hear! I had an issue with the magnets a while back and they sent me a brand new skimmer. Hope they figure this out for you.
@@imdefinitelydavid The owners manual has a website address that is invalid. No way to get a hold of the manufacturer to use the warranty. That was a lot of money for only 3 months of using the product.
Reach out to the seller on amz. I was able to contact them there and they offered a refund or full replacement.
Does it park itself at random when finished? Or in the spot where you put it in the pool? I have an inside pool which only has 2 out of 4 walls where you can reach into the pool (2 sides are against a wall where you can't walk around the pool). If it would park itself in those spots there is no other way to retrieve it other than going into the pool and that would not be ideal..
It's totally random unfortunately. It does come with a hook to attach to a pool pole if that helps

Hi David, I understand that Degrii Zima is "semi" corded/cordless, but could you do a video to compare Degrii Zima pro and Hydro 4 and maybe also The Dolphins CC Plus ?
Hello! The Zima Pro is an ok cleaner, it was great in being one of the first hybrid cleaners. But now, it tends to fall short of the new Hydro 4 which has better tech. So hands down, Hydro 4 as a hybrid wins. Now compare it to the CC plus... The CC Plus is always a good choice. Brand dependability, great cleaning, with a great price. If that's all you need(which most people only really do), then it's a great choice. But if you want extra features with the newer tech/online features, Hydro 4 corded wins. Overall, it's definitely a pick your features question. Hope that makes sense.
Do you prefer the Polaris or the Liberty? Which one cleans better?
In terms of cleaning alone, the Liberty comes with ultra-fine filters so it picks up smaller debris much better. But if you don't get a lot of small debris, I prefer the polaris, it climbs and moves better i would say than the Liberty. If the Polaris had an ultra-fine filter option it would win
I would go with the Aiper because Seauto’s customer service is horrible. They will ignore you and won’t honor their warranty.
Great job. Gave me all the info I need!
Have recently purchase the Scuba 1 Pro and it cannot do everything that the manufacturers at Aiper and a lot of these "Review" clips claim. It cannot handle relatively mild changes in pool gradient at all, and apparently (according to their customer service team) it doesn't work as expected with smooth materials. It certainly doesn't work with my standard ceramic pool tiles, even though they are 15 years old and anything but smooth! Wall cleaning mode struggles with the pool gradient and cannot advance along the wall, apparently because my pool has slightly rounded pool transitions from floor to wall. And it doesn't always manage to dock at the pool edges when the battery runs down. And finally, I think that their customer service team is an AI platform (and a poor one at that), as they appear to answer all questions with common (sometimes irrelevant) answers, and do not try to reach any sort of resolution other than to update the firmware again (even if you've clearly stated that it is up to date). Or that the machine seems to be operating correctly!
Hi David. Would you buy the cord or cordless version? I'm almost ready to purchase a pool cleaner
Do at any time during the season you get a ton of debris? For instance, I keep my pool open all year long and during the fall I get leaves all day long, non stop. In that situation, only a corded cleaner will be able to run all day. With a cordless, you'd have to take it out and charge it and wait to run it again. Also, if you plan to use a pool surface skimmer with the cleaner at the same time, then you can only use it with the cordless version. A skimmer plus robotic cleaner is now a very common combo.
This skimmer works pretty good, but the remote control doesn’t work at all
Bonjour David , merci pour cette très bonne vidéo . Penses-tu qu'en achetant le Sonar 50 je n'aurai pas de difficulté à trouver les pièces détachées chez Dolphin ?
Anpool is a verified scam do not do business with them
Have a question I have a 32x16 above ground pool.Which one would you recommend, the S2 or the Aiper Scuba S1 PRO.I had the C1 and I Wasn't satisfied with it.I want one with Ultra fine filters. Please help
If you're choosing between the Scuba S1 Pro or the Wybot S2, go for the Wybot. The longer I've used the S1 Pro the more I've realized how big and bulky it is. And I've totally switched over to the S2. It's much lighter and easier to manage. However, the ultra-fine filters in the S2 are not as fine as the filter in the S1 Pro. It's a foam filter versus a cartridge filter. If you're getting it solely on the need for an ultra-fine filter, the S1 Pro is better. But otherwise, the S2 may be better.
