I'm very confused. I have been with Amex since 1999. I have 2 Amex 2+ credit cards and the Gold card. My Ficos are 820. I have $185,000 in credit card limits with a total of $152 reporting, which is <1% utilization. 100K income and have never closed any credit card. And I haven't applied for a new card in 2.5 years. My account has a 50K upgrade to the Platinum which is measly. Plus I use the Gold a lot. I tried incognito for a 175K referral and a regular browser 150K signup. Both times I was denied saying I'm not eligible for a sign up bonus. Why? This is bizarre. I can see not getting the really high sign-ups but nothing? My stats are superb. Is this normal?

It seems that you’ve had a more limited understanding of the Marriott 24 month rule. From how I’ve read the terms, this only applies when you apply for a card issued by one bank, but you’ve received a SUB from the other issuing bank. So for example, you opened the Amex Mariott Bonvoy business card, you are barred from getting an SUB for any of the Chase cards for 24 months, but NOT for the other Amex Marriott cards. From how I understand it, you can get another SUB for the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Bevy or the Brilliant, even before 24 months. So theoretically, you can get the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business, the Bevy, and the Brilliant within a year, assuming you did not get a SUB for a Marriott card issued by Chase. Conversely, you can get the Bold, the Boundless, and the Bountiful, within a year as well, assuming you did not get a SUB for an Amex card. Could you do double check?

Utilization or Debt-to-Income Ratio Even with a high income, high credit utilization across accounts or a higher debt-to-income (DTI) ratio could raise red flags. The are dropping the Lyft Pink which was a good value if you live in a city. The dash pass is a joke and the credits are clunky for sure.

Just caught this video. It is incredibly practical. Most of the UA-camrs who do credit card rewards value “aspirational travel” but most average cardholders do not. I love the Surpass and dumped the Aspire after a year of credits. We use it enough for the free night and diamond status. The value of the free night to us is probably not worth the charge. Also, I don’t mind sitting on over 1.2 million points and my plan to use them is a big vacation in 2026 and to gift to my son to help with his honeymoon. Will there be some value reduction? Sure, no different than money in the bank.

It doesn't seem like it's worth juggling two cards to get an extra 1% just on food and "entertainment" whatever that means.

If you travel 1-2x a year you don't need the Amex plat

So one reason to avoid the Venture X is that CO removed a benefit from two other cards, the Venture Rewards and Spark Miles? I can't see choosing or avoiding cards based on this kind of speculation.

For me, it's my favorite all-around travel card. I have a Chase Sapphire lounge at my own airport, and then there are Chase Sapphire lounges at both the LGA and JFK airports, which I frequent. Even with the increased annual fee from $450 to $550, it's easy for me to make that up by getting 5x when looking through the portal for airlines and 10x for hotels. Prices are more often than not the same one booking. Only Rewards program I care about is Hyatt. Once I re-up for Globalist every year at 60 nights by booking directly, it's pretty easy to have a short stay (3-4 days) at a random boutique hotel at 10x multipliers to earn quite a bit of points to offset when booked through the portal.

Wouldn't you get more SUB rewards from getting a new Platinum card rather than upgrading the Gold card? For example, you might get 150K to 175K on a new platinum, but only 100K for the upgrade. In one of your videos, you hinted that you might both get a new Platinum card and upgrade the Gold card to a platinum. Is that even possible?

I have seen in 2024 some amazing transfer bonuses with Chase. I love the 50% in the portal which is amazing. I currently have been using the chase trifecta with the CSP and have gained a lot of points with it especially with the freeom flex rotating categories. Pretty powerful.

I am finally under 5/24 in January and hope I can get another Ink card since I haven't gotten one since 1/2023 and low on Chase points (probably Ink Unlimited). Hope to dump my Amex Hilton Business card in next few months to free up an Amex spot just not sure of the replacement for it yet (Marriott personal, another Hilton personal, or Delta Biz Platinum are all possibilities). Down to 1/24 in March and most likely will try to add a couple of additional Chase cards like Hyatt or Southwest.

I had the CO1 Savor card I accidentally product changed it for a second Quick silver card by accident The savor card only had very low CL of $300. I used my savor for food or gas when needed wish I could product back to it. Missed that card 😰😡

I have all but abandoned all hotel points except Hyatt. Starwood used to be a good value, but Marriott ruined it. Hilton is horrible as well. Both of those programs require 3-5 times the points per night as Hyatt - am i wrong about this?

Good video and nice to know that you will fly to Taiwan from Seattle. I strongly recommend flying an Asian based airline instead of Delta, as you will get much better service and food that way. I made some videos about this earlier. Suggestions: Starlux or EVA Air, as both fly this route and I've been on this route also. If you need hotel suggestions, let me know also as I often go to TW.

My roadmap for 2025 includes getting the BILT by mid-year to pay for my daughter's rent in college. I am hoping to also be able to pay my mortgage with BILT in the near future. I'm at Chase 5/24 so I am using my 14 cards for most of 2025 and then have my player 2 (wife) qualify for the SW CP in early 2026.

Lol, I'm pretty sure I accidentally coined the term credit card roadmap in an article on the no longer existing pioneer finance blog posted in Jan 2023. (Or maybe it was multiple independent evolutions of the same terms as like Spencer said, it's similar to other ways to say the same thing) I definitely didn't popularize it but I'm glad it got used.
