What would you recommend to remove rusty parts if you don't have an evaporate cleaner?

Hi there, I have recently started collecting these old singers and I have run into a screw that I have pretty much ruined. I was wondering what you do when you come to a screw that doesn't want to come out. This is a model 15 made in 1933 I believe. The screw that I am talking about is the last screw that holds the worm gear in. Not the worm gear itself but 2 screws before you get into the area of the worm gear, I managed to get one, but not the other. I have done everything except purchase a screw extractor. Do you use them? If so, what brand do you like? I have invested so much in this venture and I am about to go worse than broke. I am getting ready to throw them all in the lake.. No, just kidding. But my confidence is low. I kinda dread having to put it all back together. I have been working on this for weeks. I don't have a shop to work on so it is my kitchen table. B By way, thank you for all the videos. I would like to see some of your frustrations that I know you cut out of the video. Maybe it will help my confidence.. lol But I do need help with the screw. And last but not least the main shaft is the only thing left to get out of the machine and I am not sure how to get it out. I have not seen a good video of this model.

I`ve found that this machine is from (not earlier than) 1932! Congrats! Amazing machine! UPD: I suppose it is made after 1949, when Germany was devided. The sign present says : Made in Western Germany...

Great 💡. I have an original handcrank that I lost the arm that goes inside the wheel to to move it. Do you have any suggestion to create that upper arm? I bet it have been put safely away until 2030😢😅😂.

I completely LOVE my Tiffany Pearl!! My husband was so impressed with her and commented how dainty she looks which perfectly fits me. One of our friends commented that she died and went straight to heaven and obtained her glorious body. She is certainly extra special. Thank you again for restoring her for me. Next project is a hand crank for her painted white pearl to match.

Now you could attach a hand crank to the Demorest also😊

My two cents, this hand Crank is filmy, noisy and poorly Made in China. The old Singer well made hand crank still the best.

I gave my Grandmothers “The Free #5”. It needs cleaned but I don’t know what to use on the silver pueces

My White Rotary came in her original treadle table. One of its wooden wheels is broken and the “flap” was broken when my dog chased a mouse into it. She still rocks though! I need to install her band. The one she came with was too worn. It was a gift. My mom thought she was broken and I could fix her. She’s in perfect working condition though. When I was in Elementary school in the ‘70s…we were required to learn and use both empirical and metric. I consider it one of our generation’s superpowers…like cursive and rotary phones. My kids are my Grasshoppers…in preparation for the apocalypse. 😂 🌈🌈🦋🦋

You are the only presenter on you tube that I put down my knitting or stop what I'm doing to watch every move you make. I have 5 old machines that operate and 2 that need some TLC. I also have a fancy Bernina that Is 6 years old that I enjoy using. However, for piecing quilts I prefer one of my old gals. You don't have to wait for the computer to respond and one can sew quilt patches together quicker.

Nice! I’m three cuppas in thinking about the sewing I must do today! I’ve volunteered as a Buddy for our local Night to Shine. I have nothing “formal” I’ve been jeans and T-shirt or quirky for the last oh 25 years. 😂 I don’t wear dresses anymore either. I ransacked my stash. I’m making Scroops Eastbourne Trousers (go to) out of fabric I purchased for a swing coat. Paired with a self drafted cowl necked blouse (go to also) in a chartreuse light dupioni. It shouldn’t take long but my house is cold. The pellet stove didn’t feed the entire hopper…it got down to 13F. It’s cooking again and I need to get off my 🫏
