Hi Everyone and Welcome to Promethean Sewing Machines, where I am unashamedly rebelliously creative when it comes to taking old forgotten sewing machines and bringing them back to life in a beautiful way.
    Meet my project:
This is part one, as you will see when we get into the weeds of it, there were some part issues. So, while I try to hold it together over here, I am hoping that once again Bob Fowler can help me with a troubled hook and bobbin winder.
I have faith though that she will be beautifully functioning soon!

This is probably one of the times when you question your choice of hobbies! LOL!!! I bet Bob has had many of them too. Hang in there kiddo, the neat thing about this situation is that you are going to get some cool knowledge that will serve you well down the road. Looking forward to the next video when you complete the restoration of this lovely lady.💕🙏👍

Hey Maria. Sending out hook and bobbin case for your 115. These are spare parts that just sit there. Thanks Mike

I love a good cliffhanger! But, I needed a glass of wine after watching this one. Can't wait for the end results!

Hugs Marie! I love the humour with your editing. She's a challenge, all right, but I don't think she stands a chance against you. It's like watching a rollicking performance of the Taming of the Shrew.

I'm working on a 115 on which the thread gets stuck behind the bobbin. I was so excited when I saw you were having the same problem! I thought, "Great! I get to see it solved!" But no, I have to wait for part 2 . . .
Anyway, thank you for your lovely videos. I'll try to be patient. :)

What does everyone polish face plates with?

I’m also having a problem with the upper thread getting caught in the hook/bobbin area. I would really appreciated if you could explain what you did? I think you said it had to do with a bent shaft?

This is a frustrating one. So for this machine, it came to me disassembled. And on the shaft, the side with the flat cut out goes on the hook. The flat space should let the hook adjust back and forth to find the position that works. On this machine it looked like the shaft had been hammered and the end that the hook goes on was deformed enough that it was impossible to get the hook in the right position. Once I ground off the mis-shapen place it slid right on. It's a tricky place making sure there is enough room both at the bobbin case positioning bracket and at the casting place where the shaft comes through. All I can suggest is if your shaft is in good shape, loosen the crews holding the hook to it and try moving it a hair one way or the other along that flat spot until it works. Good luck!

@ Thanks so much for your detailed reply. Much appreciated and will look closely at this.

How does one remove that bar? I know it can be done, I just can't figure it out. The fork you have there on the left side of the rod came out in mine without removing the bar and rod. It just kind of fell out at one point, I assume you just have to wiggle it out. The bar and rod are the last pieces I have to remove, I got the set screw out already but I can't wrap my head around how it's all held in there. It seems pretty unlikely that it can come out up or down, it must be forward or backward and then up or down and out.

I am assuming that once the set screw is removed, it could be tapped out from the side with the dimple at the end. I have not done this, but it makes sense to me. Good luck!

@ It certainly seems like that’s how it needs to come out. It’s been soaking in pen oil for a few days now, I’ll go play around with it again and see what I can do.

Remember your hook may be out 180 degrees.

Would you mind explaining how to figure out if this is the issue? I'm working on one of these with the same problem.
