Greetings UA-cam! I am very excited to get my hands on a 2024 Honda CRF300L. Just got into your channel The realities of motor bike touring, either you are the most unlucky as the amount of times you end up in rain is unreal, either that , or you just show it how it is , whilst most utubers dont. I've no doubt its you showing the reality. Which is best , as people who may want to do the same , wont be in for a bad surprise
Tough ride that Steve, well done for persevering and glad you found a nice warm room for the night. Great video as always, ride safe mate
Thanks Dave! 😁
Happy New Year . How did the tent do in the rain ? 🌧 this Grand tour is brilliant. Thanks for sharing it 😃👍
Happy New Year! The tent has been brilliant in the rain, dry and cosy inside 😁
Happy New Year to both you and your subscribers, thanks for sharing .
Thanks Robert, happy New Year to you too! 😊
Really enjoyable video - nice to see you doing it all at a measured pace - not much if anything seems to phase you Steve. Lots of interesting info about touring in Switzerland particularly around the various Passes, and the train was priceless - came into its own when needed. Looking forward to the next video. Your touring MC experience shines through. Let’s have it as the saying goes 😮👌🏍️
Thanks! 😁
Liked & subscribed! Enjoy your video's and I hope your bike will not get stolen again!
Thank you for subscribing and welcome onboard! 😁
I did the train back in June with the Furka closed. Managed to get 8 Harley’s in but we had to ride down the car carriages to get on. Twas a experience reversing them out of the carriage fully loaded.
Awesome, that does indeed, sound like quite an experience! 😁
Great video ! Like the walts and all style , not a fan of highly polished videos just showing the perfect bits
Thanks! 😊
Thank you Steve. Very interesting video. I am visiting Oberwald this summer (2025), on my trusty Rocket, and it was really good to get a first person perspective of the place. Will definitely give the pizza restaurant a visit 👍
Thanks! 😊
Thank you for the ride on the Furka Pass train. It was interesting.
You’re welcome! 😊
I enjoyed all the way up to the end. It motivates me to do this Grand Tour if the Iceland tour doen't work out for 2025. Loved the it. Thx.
Thanks! 😊
It’s another good one Steve! Love your relaxed approach to touring abroad. The scenery in Switzerland is breathtaking, ive never been there on my bike and i must say im very tempted. I also think you have developed a cracking channel for our intertainment and research purposes. It’s one of those channels that makes me so pleased when a new episode pops up in my subscriber list. I absolutely think you are going places with your style and personality. Looking forward to the rest of the trip and your new season. Ride safe Buddy and well done, Beans.
Thank you for your very kind words! 😊
Great vid again love you’re series keep up the great channel mate 👍
Thank you my friend! 😊
Tip for you. Self amalgamating rubber tape (any hardware shop) wrapped around the usb connector makes it water proof. Used it for years. 👍🏻
Sounds like a great idea, thanks! I’ll give it a go! 😊
@ many many year of riding in the rain. 🤣👍🏻
Another amazing video out. I'm going to watch this multiple times now as I go about my day.
Awesome! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! 😊
Another fantastic video Steve 👍 thumbs up for the camera work and the beautiful scenery. Have to say I’m extremely jealous even despite the rain I would love to be there 🤙
Thanks David! 😊
Great tour Steve.....U Da Man!!!!
Thanks Stewart! 😁
Sorry dude, just as an addition.....I'd trust a politicians before I trusted the Nav 6 ! 🤣🤣🤣
I hear you! 😂
Ahh ! The most beautiful city in the world Steve, been lucky enough to be there on bike, in a motorhome and flying ! It's stunning 😃 your doing a similar route to us last year but in reverse ! All the best mate take care 👍🏍🏍
Thanks Peter! It is truly a beautiful place to be 😁
Hi there fabulous video again I remember ( 1982) going up to Orkney from Aberdeenshire on a 175 bike with Neil. We got rain soaked and dried every other hour and I had … a VERY SORE backside 😂 but it was fun It’s good to see you making lemonade from the 🍋 🍋 lemons 👍😊
Hi, what a fabulous story! Sometimes it’s the tough times that make the memories so special… 😊
Just used ya link got a 50L and a 30L in black
Hi Adam, that’s great to hear! I continue to be really impressed with mine 😊
Hi Steve Get the Ultimate addons phone holder, fully waterproof, had mine for over 5 years, never had an issue.
Hi Mick, thanks for the tip, I’ll look into that! 😊
The skills of the road and tunnel engineers in all the Alpine countries never ceases to amaze me! Every time I ride or drive through the Alps I marvel at what they have constructed …. A great tour 👍
Thanks, I completely agree! 😊
Love the train trip Im suprised they didnt advise you to park at an angle with the front wheel against the side and bike in gear
Yes, with hindsight… Euro tunnel fashion….
Really enjoyed this video, loving the roads and scenery, what a beautiful country, loving your camera positions and video coverage Really impressed, I've always wanted to do something like what you are doing on this tour but I'm 70 years old and I'm just not brave or confident enough to take on something like what you are doing on my own, I've done local tours lakes and Wales but that's it really, anyway great content and big respect to you and your channel for taking on this adventure. 👍
Thank you so much Steven, I’m so glad you’re enjoying the series! I love the Lakes and Wales and have had many a wonderful adventure in both places. They are always on my ‘return to’ list! 😊
I hate damping gave it up a few years ago when it started spoiling my bike trips now its Hotels air B&Bs etc Great trip Happy New year to you
A very Happy New Year to you too! 😊
Absolutely loving this tour, beautiful scenery amazing roads (& train) one of the best tours I’ve seen
Thank you so much Chris! 😊
Feel your pain the passes were still shut middle of June it was a bad year for snow lets hope 2025 treats us biker tourers more kindly. Great vid very enjoyable.
Thanks! 😊
Happy New Year Steve, thanks for the great video's take care & ride safe 👍
Thanks Phil, a very happy New Year to you too 😊
Epic adventure- really enjoying this!! 👍🏍🏍👍
Thanks! 😊
And we got there early June to find the passes closed too! Disappointing
Them rail carriages need to be experienced. Ours was full, got bounced all over the place and came out high as a kite from the bike fumes 😂
Hey Steve, another fantastic vlogg. Thanks. Your question about the evolution of the GS. For years it's been "the best seller". Now ? I've yet to hear about any stats. I'd like to know though.
Yes, it would be interesting to know the latest stats…
We were there for a week 9th June 24 and only that pass was open, locals said worse weather they have had since 1995 🤣 typical think grimsel opened week after we got back lol.
Perhaps the very height of summer is the only guaranteed time (but then the traffic becomes a nightmare!)
@@TwoWheeledDreamer And it's bloody hot 🤣
That too! 😂
Mmmm, that almost puts the grim into Grimsel. 😅
👋 just let u know I passed my bike test today (January 2nd) I’ve now can ride any cc bike so I’ve looked at a BMW GS1300 so tomorrow I’m going to my BMW dealer in Paris and order a new 🏍️ so I can do Moro 🏕️ all around the 🌏 tack care hope the new bike doesn’t get stolen. ❤❤
Well done. I’d start on something smaller than the 1300 myself, if you like GS’s the new 900 is very nice. Me? I started on a Tracer 700, now on a Vstrom 1050.
Congratulations! Exciting times ahead! 😁
Ah mate, simply love watching your adventures, im just the same on mine, love the slightly less curvy roads etc too. Glad you got a pitch in the end…i would have booked the penthouse instead of a tent pitch, 2 days before i would have arrived knowing me. Anyway…HAPPY NEW YEAR Steve, safe travels in 25 and thank you for all your excellent videos last year, Kind regards, Beans.
Thank you my friend, and a very happy New Year to you too! 😁
Thanks for sharing, beautiful 😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻from British Columbia
You’re very welcome! 😁
Sad news but I know one thing, next year must avoid 👉 Bennett’s 👈
Very confused ; Day 1, 1200GSA bike is STOLEN at Reims Then you publish NewBike 1250GSA Day 2 and you appear back on a 1200GSA, perhaps even the same stolen bike ??? Any story to tell ?
As explained in the description of this series, it was filmed just before the tour in which the bike was stolen….
Understood
As you said,in an ideal world I would have 4 motorcycles. I could drive them all with the same License plate. But we only pay taxes and insurance for the one with the highest cubic centimetres. Greetings from Switzerland.
Hello! That would be a great system to work with! 😁
What a wonderful day's riding. Lush green lands and then snowy passes. Just beautiful
The roads where the other bikers pass you is a bit scary. Let the quick ones go, I would, one mistake and ya gone. I used to be a bit mad on R1,s and bikes like that but I just go steady now and enjoy the ride. 👍
Great episode Steve, you couldn’t have asked for better weather for that time of the year. I hadn’t heard of the Grand Tour until you introduced this series.
Re Speed ,as my girlfriend’s 90yo father said “Better late in this world than early in the next”!.
Thanks for sharing ,gives me a wee escape from daily care of my widowed mum(dementia).Maybe one day I will have an adventure .
Hi Robert, thank you for watching, I’m so glad my videos provide a little escape. 😊
You did the right thing by taking your time on mountain roads. The scenery is beautiful but also distracting- hence you slower speeds since you are simply enjoying the bike and taking it all in. Happy Christmas- see you 2025. 😊
Bob Dylan is not dead. He rode a Harley Davidson Knucklehead Bobber as a teenager but crashed on a Triumph Tiger 1966 and stopped touring for 8 years.
Good episode mate, we were there in mid June and got snow, only the Grimsel was open out of the big passes. We came up from lake Como over the Splungon and oberalp , the Splungon we could not see any off it due to heavy rain and fog. We even took the Furka train under the mountain which was a experience. Not sure Harley has anything to do with the Swiss grand tour but I do see the resemblance with the bar and shield. Keep em coming .
Do I like Land Rovers? My wife and I visited a dealer in the mid nineties. When the doors were closed we could see the floor through the open gaps. I guess the British car industry never was any good. I also remember my mom's Mini in the early sixties. And my Mondeo with the puncturing brake lines. Never again!
