    Having just returned from my own Alpine adventure on my 1983 BMW R100RS I am, like you, full of admiration for the alpine road and tunnel engineers. Those roads are just incredible and full credit to you for riding them in the snow! ⛄️ I visited the Trummelbach falls some 25yrs ago and I’m glad to see that they still look just as impressive as I remember them 🤩

      I felt in awe the entire time I was riding those roads… just incredible! Your 1983 R100RS must be an incredible bike to tour with - they were on my wish list back in the day! 😁

      @@TwoWheeledDreamer indeed it is and she still does the job perfectly with over 100k on the clock. We did 2500mls in 10 days and she only used 250ml of oil. Keep enjoying your trips and keep the videos coming 👍

    Good riding 👍 I have ridden that area and had both snow and heat, both take their toll😅. Stopped in that hotel at the end of Lautterburn once too, OK, nothing great but the beer, food and bed were very welcome at the end of a long day. Missed the underground bit as arrived late so sounds like a return is in order sometime😊 Stay safe and have a good run homewards 👍

    Great episode. Pretty sketchy on the bike though Steve! You picked a hell of a time to go to Switzerland. Loved the Lauterbrunnen visit-I went there in 2019. Did the waterfalls and the train up the Jungfrau. Brilliant.

    You're braver than me riding in the Alps at that time of the year and I'me on 3 wheels with much wider tires. There are good web sites which detail which passes are open and when closed ones are expected to open. The passes you would have needed to use from Andermatt generally don't open till late May, this year many stayed closed till mid June as there was more late snow. Two years ago I was at the top of the OberAlps Pass in a thunderstorm with snow flurries on the 1st July so bad weather can be expected at any time of the year. (Next day was a scorcher with blue skies)

      Hi Jim, I will take a look at those websites, they sound extremely useful. You mention three wheels, what are you riding? 🙂 Thunderstorms and mountain passes make for a pretty dramatic combination… that must have been quite scary!!

      @@TwoWheeledDreamer Hi, I ride a Can-Am Spyder RTL tourer, lots of storage for long journeys. Thunderstorms not really scary just very wet, the Spyder has really good grip on wet roads. Worst was 2 years ago on the Grossglockner where i was riding down from bikers point in a thunderstorm with water fl;owing across the cobbles in the corners, This was taken slowly with extra care.

    Just recently back from senigallia Italy. Wondering how you pay for fuel, as we often had to ask locals to pay for us and give them the cash. Our card was taking 100-200 euros everytime! Sometimes taking days to go back into our account! Which when you've got small tank can be a pain! We have a hsbc global money card.

    • @TwoWheeledDreamer
      @TwoWheeledDreamer  17 днів тому

      Hi Jacky, I’ve not heard of that happening before…! I just use a bog standard credit card and it seems to work fine. I can see how that would be a pain with a small tank if it’s taking up to €200 at a time!

    • @frankspeakmore7104
      @frankspeakmore7104 17 днів тому

      I used a Nationwide debit card, and a Barclays current account card and had no problems paying for fuel even with the automated petrol kiosks. Also had no problems at Peage's, just tapped the small black box. I found it was good practice to have at least two cards, because sometimes a card would be rejected for no apparent reason.
