Its all about the points on this channel! My videos are straight forward and simple clips consisting of my in situ finds from across the middle TN area. Each piece found is shown up close and from all angles to show the craftsmanship of the people that created these artifacts. No artifacts recovered are ever sold or traded, just added to my personal collection to be admired and cherished.
Artifact hunting TN - Walking up on the elusive harpeth river point
I'm finally back at it with another video after a couple month hiatus getting in some good hunting. The artifacts in this video were all found earlier this spring when it was still chilly out. Chilly or not, the artifacts constantly keep coming no matter what! A number of different point types, drill, and uniface blades are shown in this video. The last point is whats called a harpeth river point. They are a somewhat elusive point not often found, with the exception of a few lucky people that have found large numbers of them. These are considered a transitional paleo / early archaic piece. Thanks as always for watching! Please be sure to like, subscribe, and hit the notification bell to keep up with all of my upcoming finds!

Metal detecting native sites. What could be found?!
Переглядів 2,6 тис.3 місяці тому
After walking up on an old large cent piece from the mid 1800's while at one of the native sites i hunt, I wondered what could be found if i swung the metal detector while i hunted? So I spent a day going to a number of sites hunting with the detector in tow. I found a number of interesting items from flat buttons, to bullets, coins, buckles, an addition to the egyptian looking piece i found a ...

In this video I have another lineup of artifacts spanning from the ancient to the 20th century. Quite a few of them are literally frozen in the ground as well! An old flat button that was found in the video wound up being a silver button, which isn't a common find for me. The massive deer shed i found was stuck in a pile of sticks and debris that a beaver had made into a den. The last thing i w...

This video is a compilation of more finds from the end of last year. The finds are still backed up and ready to be put into videos from the productive year I had! This video has it all as usual… little points, large points, scrapers, anvil stones, broke points, and of course the toothy point! I’m not really sure what type of point is at the end, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks for che...

Here we have another compilation of finds found in 2023. The artifacts piled up faster than i could make videos, but they will all get shared eventually. A lot of different point types in this video, including some real heart breaker pieces. They are all proud additions to the collection none the less. The highlight piece is the beautifully made copena, G-10 no doubt! I keep going back to that ...
Artifact hunting TN - The untouched field. Artifacts laying everywhere!

What a day! 20 steps into this field and i knew it was gonna be one heck of a day! A field on a hilltop that to my knowledge has never been hunted. From the looks of it, it sure seemed that way. There were flakes and broken pieces laying all over. As i would make a pass from one side of the field to the other, it was unusual not to find at least a couple broken pieces. I got spoiled really quic...

This latest round of finds is from later in the year of 2023. Im slowly getting through the backlog of artifacts found last year that are making their way into videos! Your thoughts or comments on any of the artifacts are always appreciated. If you e...

This video is a collection of finds found later this summer and into early fall of this year. Its a typical video of mine full of an array of different artifacts from different periods, with a few not so typical pieces! From the hidden lost lake stuck in the hardened dirt wall at the beginning, to the massive lerma drill just laid out in the open at the end, and everything else in between. As a...

Another video jam packed full of artifacts of all types! The coin looking piece was the exact size of a dime in comparison. Obviously not made of dime material though. Under magnified observation no date or any type of marking was visible, so it’s a total mystery still! I even threw in a fillet knife randomly found in the woods while bushwhacking. The odd piece found at the 14:00 mark was inter...

Another compilation of finds from earlier this year. A number of these pieces i've been excited to share. For as old as these artifacts are, it amazes me that they can still look so perfect with every little serration still in perfect shape! I got a few good additions to add to the G10 artifacts case! Thanks for checking it out and please comment to give your input on any of the artifacts. The ...

I don't think they were from a cache but I could be wrong. Most likely you were lucky! If the creek had gotten up and was receding, and no one else had been there yet. Sometimes it's just first come first serve. I've hunted Missouri artifacts for about 41 years. Not so much lately due to too much walking in my younger days, I've worn my legs out. But watching this makes me want to get out there soon!! Thanks for sharing!
Hey brother. Congrats!! Bet you didn't leave a footprint in the mud for 2 hours after finding that year maker.
Thanks buddy! I was definitely over the moon after that. It was a last min stop at the end of a long and unproductive day hunting. I was leaving for FL the following morning and couldn’t believe I was gonna spend the whole week at the beach thinking about not finding a darn thing before leaving! Haha It came at such a perfect time.. I almost didn’t find it either. From the angle I was looking from it looked just like a leaf. A prime example of why one should second guess themselves when hunting!😂
Hey brother just wanted to let you know that there is going to be a show at Corinth miss. October 5th looking forward to be there. Take care and God bless
Thanks for the heads up man! I just looked it up. Corinth is only 3.5 hours away… not that bad of a drive for a good showing of artifacts! I saw that it’s being put on by the archaeological society as well. That usually means a good show! Are you gonna be displaying?!
@@Points365 yes sir if all goes well I already scheduled vacation
@@Points365 yes sir we're planning on setting up with some Arkansas color and a few Paleo projectile pieces.hope to see you then.
I am glad it was you who found that treasure point after it was lost for so long. It needs to be appreciated.
Thanks man, I appreciate the appreciation of me finding it! At least if I’m the one to recover it, it’s shared for everyone to see. There’s no telling what all gets found out there that remains to be unseen. Thanks as always buddy!
You were a lucky man to be the first person to walk that field. Places like that are few and far between. In my area it is getting harder and harder to find a place to hunt them because it seems like most of the fields around here were worked by the older generation and now that they have retired and passed away the next generation just don't want to work the land and sell everything off for building houses and such, keep up the hunt my friend and keep bringing us the videos of your finds
I agree with you completely. If it’s not no till that’s killing the field hunting, it’s the ever growing footprint of expansion that’s permanently burying the past. It’s happening at an alarming pace. Around here in middle TN for sure. It’s sad to think of all that’s lost for good with each house and parking lot that’s built. It’s strange how few people care that it happens as well. All we can do is do our part to preserve what we can before the inevitable happens, and that part of history on that particular spot of land is forever erased. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
that arrowhead is beautiful!
Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to check it out!
I wonder if the blade forgives the plow
Haha there were SO many plow broken pieces there.. 80 something that I found that day. I never would have imagined that the big piece would have been the one to survive.
@Points365 when I search an area I always keep the broke points in a labeled bag. It will surprise you how many you can re-piece over the year's.
@@jenkins2162 Although I do save all of my broken pieces, I’ve never had the pleasure of reconnecting 2 broken pieces that have been separated for no telling how long. That has to be an amazing realization that you have the missing piece to a broken artifact!
@Points365 yeah it is pretty cool. About once a year I line up tips and bottoms in rows and slowly try to see if there are any new matches.
Congratulations on that last one!! So beautiful ! The Scraper and drill were rock on also. Great video with such a wonderful mix of artifacts. 🎉
Thank you! This video wasn’t full of the heavy hitters like some of my past videos, but it definitely had some contenders! That last one I found at one of those spots that spits out an artifact or 2 a year… tops! You can see why I keep going back though. Thanks as always!
@@Points365 You find amazing artifacts! They are a true joy to see! Your videos never disappoint. Happy hunting.
Wish I could find a good place to look I've been looking for 32 years in center AL found all the other things they used got some pretty good stuff but not a lot of points be great to find a good place with points have a safe time
It’s strange how some areas seem to have a higher concentration of projectile points. It was obviously a necessity of life for the ancient people, and one would think that would be reflected in the artifacts found. Mid AL and mid TN aren’t that far apart really. You’d think it would be one and the same. Maybe they just enjoyed the seeming abundance of ticks and poison ivy we have up here! Haha
Hey points that red one is awesome brother and I love watching your videos keep up the good work and stay safe brother
Thanks man I appreciate it! The particular spot has spit out 3 large Benton’s made out of unusually colorful material over the years. I can’t help but find myself hoping for the next one each time I get out there!
I walked miles and miles behind a john deere while plowing after the first rain
What a lucky spot to be! It seems like the first rain is always the best one too. Was it productive?!
I sure enjoyed this video. Thanks - I like arrow heads and fiddle music well too the magic of finding things.
Thanks buddy, sounds like it was the perfect combo then! I’m glad you enjoyed and hope you get the chance to check out some of my other finds on here.
Good Lord that is a beauty! It was deep, huh?
It’s one of my favorite pieces no doubt! I’m not sure how deep it came from as a little section of the bank had slid off. It was stuck in that section that slid off so it had come down a bit from surface level. I just remember thinking it was a leaf at first and decided to poke it just in case… so glad I did!
Man!!! Nice work!!
Thanks buddy, I appreciate you checking it out!
The points were awesome as usual but what a stellar scraper!
Thanks man! Thats so funny, I’m starting to think I should’ve made that little scraper the highlight of the video! It is exceptional for a blade / scraper though. I appreciate you checking it out!
@@Points365 I actually thought the first one was nice also without one it would be like losing your pocket knife
Finally !!!!
Haha, sorry for the slow release time! I’ll work on not going 2 months again. I was busy finding more content! Thanks buddy!
Hello brother, have you checked what this Egyptian talisman is? I found a similar one in Poland. Regards
Hey buddy! Unfortunately, I haven’t found any information on those pieces. Thats strange and amazing that you found similar pieces there though! I appreciate you reaching out!
Nice going!
Thanks buddy, I appreciate ya as always!
What great pieces my friend! Congrats! That last point had some beautiful colors. Thanks for sharing all the great stuff you find!
Thanks buddy! Yeah the video really doesn’t do that last one justice. The light colored bands on it are translucent too, which makes it even more impressive to see with some backlight! Thanks for checking out the finds!
That is definitely one beautiful Harpeth River! But Love that Oval Unifaced tool also!
Thanks buddy! The bands on that harpeth river are translucent, which gives it a neat look when backlit. That unifaced tool was definitely well made. And to think… it probably only took them a couple minutes to turn a flake into a beautiful piece like that! Thanks as always man!
That made for a great Thursday night garage night! Many thanks!
Thanks as always man! I’ll try not to make it another 2 months before I put another video out. I’ve been busy finding some content for the next videos! Haha take care buddy!
Killer drill, on my bucket list, and those bands on that point were killer. Great saves and good hunting.
Thanks buddy! A complete drill is always a bonus! The bands on that last piece are translucent as well, which makes it look even neater with a backlight. Thanks for checking out the finds man!
@@Points365 I had a few good finds out with Bluegrass Relics sunday, but nothing like that.
Killer drill, and the bands on the last point!
Thanks man! A complete drill is always a bonus. The bands on that last piece are translucent, which gives it a neat look with a backlight. Thanks for checking out the finds!
Lemon juice will clean that coin up. Soak it then use a tooth brush to gently clean it. Im sure you already know that though.😊
I’ve heard of lemon juice, but never tried it. Maybe I need to start ordering lemons with my water at dinner so I can save up enough to try it out! Haha Thanks again!
That last point at the end with the bands is killer! Nice score.
Thanks so much! Where I found that last piece is one of those spots that only spits out an artifact or 2 a year tops. You can see why it’s one of my frequented spots! Haha thanks for checking out the finds!
As usually you delivered on a great variety of points and artifacts. It was definitely worth waiting a few months for. That oval piece was certainly well worked it reminded me of an unfinished pendant or gorgette nice classic harperth river made of beautiful banded material nice mono at the very end the other half may still be arround in the area.again great video
Thanks buddy! I didn’t mean to wait so long to put another video out but life, work, and hunting has a tendency to take up a lot of time. I have a few videos worth of artifacts found this year that are still waiting to get put together into videos. I believe all the finds in this video were from March / April. So a little catching up to do! Haha Thanks as always man, and I’m looking forward to sharing the rest of my finds with you coming up!
Awesome! Makes me want to get out. I have not been out in a long time. The HR @ 14:10 is a stunner. Thanks for the show. Happy Hunting!
Thanks buddy! I hear ya though… nothing pumps me up to get out and find some stuff more than watching other people pull artifacts! Haha It really helps on the days I need a little extra push, like when it’s the dead of winter! Thanks as always man and good luck if you get out there!
Awesome finds brother ! Congratulations, beautiful history your seeing!!!
Thanks buddy! Agreed on the history too… it almost makes me sad to think of all the artifacts that don’t get found, and are swept out into the depths of our waterways to be lost seemingly forever… again!
Daaang, that last one though! Holy crap what a piece! Glad to see you back, brother. Keep pumping out the great content!
Thanks man! Where I found that last one is one of those spots that spits out an artifact or 2 a year tops. You can see why I keep going back I’m sure! Haha thanks for checking it out!
👍 I'll bet that dude pulled that banded blade knife out more than necessary. That "soda bottle top" scraper is killer.
Oh you know he did! He was all like… “there she is coming around the wigwam… lemme sit here picking my teeth with this thing. Tell me is she looks my way!” 😂
@@Points365 Yep, then he could gift it to her and seal the deal.
That last point was a pretty son of a gun!!
Thanks again buddy. Those white stripes on it are translucent too, which give it a little extra flair! Thanks for checking out the finds!
That may be of the coolest shafted end scrapers I've seen. To bad it has a chip out of it. Whom ever did the work on that was pretty darn good
Thanks man! I feel like those pieces like that often get overlooked… lucky for people like us! Ha
@Points365 Like you, I haven't found my whole first point yet, after 5 years of searching hard locally in my state. I've did my homework on sites and finds here in MD. locally. The county I lived in I think was a transitional area they traveled through.I have the Chesapeake bay east of me, The Potomac River west of me, with the Monocacy river in between going west. The Allegany mountains are furter west. Then the Susquehanna river north of me. Both major rivers the Potamac and Susquehanna both flow into the bay.
@Points365 Those scrapers are one of my favorite tools. They were important to the survival of man in my opinion
Nice recoveries brother. been wondering about you glad to see you are finding them nice drill and killer at the end. Take care and see you on the next one.
Yeah man, you know how it goes… work and hunting for artifacts gets in the way when it comes to making videos. I figured I was backlogged with enough artifacts to where I better get back at it sharing some finds! I appreciate it as always buddy and hope you’ve been doing good!
@@Points365 we're doing good thanks just working and hunting trying to keep my head above water and on my shoulders. Already looking forward to the next video... Take care and God bless.
Man you find the good stuff!!😂
Haha I find the broke stuff too! Persistence eventually pays off with a quality piece every now and then! Thanks as always buddy!
Very cool finds, that mataty is really cool did you take it home?
Yeah buddy, you know I did! Broken or not, I had to take that home with me. There’s hardly any broken artifacts that I don’t bring home with the exception of hammer stones etc. I only have so much space at home haha
@@Points365 I have a lot of space, unfortunately, it seems about all I find are hammer and nutting stone's, but I have some really cool finds, maybe you will find the other half !
Dang brother, looks like you were hunting on broke back creek that day, there were some beautiful heartbreaker's on the shoreline, it's a absolute shame that they were broke
Broke back creek… no relation to broke back mountain hopefully!🤣 But man I know, broken pieces are the name of the game. I usually leave the broken ones out of videos because of the large quantities of them I find. I went all in on this video! Haha Thanks for checking it out
Damnit man. That banded point is stellar!! Well done, sir.
Haha thanks buddy! I found it at one of those sites that spits out maybe 1 or 2 points every couple years. I’m persistent about frequenting it for pieces like this! Thanks as always man!
Nice Pokey-sticky-stabby
Great content! I appreciate all your hard work in making these vids! I grew up on the harpeth and thats where i caught the hobby of artifact hunting. Ive moved to north alabama and the points dont dissapoint, but seeing what you find reminds me of what i found as a youngster. I look forward to your next video.
Thanks buddy I appreciate it! It’s a pleasure to share the finds with everyone. What a place to grow up though! An older buddy of mine grew up hunting the harpeth with his grandmother. They actually found a mastodon tusk sticking out of a gravel bar while out hunting. That tusk is the one that’s currently displayed at the Tennessee state museum. Thanks as always buddy!
Welcome back. Been missing your saves. That round thingy was really cool. I like those unusual items. Harpeth river a killer. So what was the item broken in half at the end you think. Well as alwYs be safe out there.
Thanks buddy! I’m with you, the strange and unusual pieces are an added bonus. That last piece looked like a well worn grinding stone / bowl. I found it right there near where the harpeth river was found. Came out of the same little clump of dirt I imagine. I’m glad that harpeth wasn’t snapped in half like it was! Haha Thanks again my friend!
You’re lucky that the raccoon didn’t pick up the second blade!
Haha I know! Little booger was all over that thing! Luckily I don’t have to compete with them, otherwise it’d be game over for me!
Incredible finds! Love the bands on the Harpeth River. Definitely a Beauty!
Thanks bud! Those white bands are translucent when backlit. Pretty neat looking piece, and the video as usual doesn’t do it justice! Haha thanks as always man!
@@Points365 no way man you always make great videos!
That stripey point is a work of art!
Thank you! When it’s backlit the white stripes are translucent. They were hunting with a little flair with that piece!😂 Thanks for checking it out!
Love your videos! Those were a couple really nice flake tools. Was that one longer stemmed point a Buck Creek? Killer drill!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that. The flake tools are always neat! I feel like they get passed up by a lot of artifact hunters. Either they just want the pointy stuff, or they just think they are flakes… either way I’ll take their leftovers! Haha But yep, you nailed it. Buck creek. Found it at my buck creek spot. That’s the only projectile type I’ve ever found there. Probably somewhere around 25-28 found there so far. It must’ve been their point of choice there! Haha thanks again buddy!
I’ve missed your videos that drill was a killer. That Bluejay had your number , that banded one at the end my goodness that one’s a killer for sure great save!!! That guy had a covet that point great craftsmanship!
Thanks man and sorry for the video silence! Work has been wearing me out, and when not working, hunting for more additions to the collection has been going on. I’ve had some good luck over the past couple months and can’t wait to share the new finds! Now the real hard work begins…. Making videos! Haha thanks as always buddy!
Hell yes. Beeb waiting on your next video. Some good ones. Beautiful harpeth river
Haha thanks man! Sorry for the recent lack of vids… work has been wearing me out, and when I wasn’t working I was busy looking for content to share! It’s been a good past few months and have some goodies to share. Now back to making more videos between sleeping and hunting! Haha thanks buddy!
Congratulations on your bucket lister, a very fine example. Great spot on the pencil drill they are seldomly found on the surface. All the recent rains should help everybody in their relic hunting adventures 👍🏻
Thanks man! The recent rains and flooding have definitely helped with the artifacts. A flood event usually improves the hunting for a couple years at least! I appreciate ya man and hope you have continued luck and success in your upcoming hunts!
