Do you have a piece of furniture in need of a refinish but you have neither the time nor interest in such an endeavor? I did. This antique dresser was scratched, scarred and the finish was beginning to fail. Restore A Finish was a quick solution.

DRAMATIC MAKEOVER: Building a New Base|| How to Paint Plastic/Laminate

I HAD to get t his three-pice set. I kew the details on the top drawers would look amazing painted. BUT THEY WERE PLASTIC! And the tops were lamnate. But no worries. They can be painted, too, for a very high end look. And ... AND ... I build new bases for the first time. Woot woot! It only took two years to get the courage to do it. Painting Furniture White

"Knotty" pine, a broken dresser and many different personalities were in Halina's eclectic group of furniture and I was commissioned to grant her wish of an all-white bedroom as she prepared to move to a new home. This was the biggest commissioned job I had ever been hired to complete. My two biggest challenges were: * The countless, textured knots - how to conceal and paint them, and * Two bro...

Bombay Company Boring & Broken to Stylish and Sophisticated
Переглядів 6032 місяці тому
Creating matching side tables from mismatched items is a challenge I love. These two, dated, run-of-the-mill side tables got a quick and easy flip and now they match beautifully. Can you still see Bombay Company relics now? Leave me your thoughts in a comment.
These Turned Out Better Than I Had Imagined

If you're anything like me, you buy individual side tables in hopes that ONE DAY you'll find another one just like it to make a matching pair. But lets face it. That almost NEVER happens!!! I bought a dark, flat-faced side table at Goodwill for $15. Two weeks later I found another side table at a thrift store for $46. This one was lighter in color and had beveled trim around each drawer. The kn...
HOW TO CREATE CLOSET SPACE
Переглядів 5103 місяці тому
From ugly hinges, unstable legs, key-less locks and knots and dents galore, this ugly duckling was transformed into a beautiful, functional "closet." This was such a fun restyle. And the Pottery Barn Dupe technique was the perfect solution to mask all the pitted knots and imperfections this old piece had accumulated over time. Let me know what you think of the transformation.
HOW DO YOU TAKE THESE DRAWERS OUT???
Переглядів 2173 місяці тому
The answer is NOT to force them out like I did (unless you like tiny ball bearings scurring around your work space). Let me save you hours of confusion and time figuring out how to safely remove them and how to fix those drawers you've broken.
FURNITURE MAKEOVER: Restyling a Simple Buffet as a Coffee Bar, Beverage Bar or Entertainment Center

Buffets are fun to restyle and paint because they're so versatile. My favorite way to stage them is as a coffee bar. But in addition to being , well, a buffet, they can also serve as a beverage bar or TV Entertainment Center as I show here. Let me know what you think? Did I succeed in restyling this early 90s buffet for today's home decor? Items Used Include: Dremel Battery Charged Screwdriver ...

Creating a Cottage Style, Raw Wood Finish on an Heirloom Table
I love all Howard's Products, but be aware that you may need to re-do it a couple of times, especially if the finish is quite bad initially.
So, where do I get that handy screw driver?
@@mikeking3110 it’s a cordless Dremel I got off Amazon.
Awe I haven’t finished watching the video yet but I had to stop and comment, I love that you gave Shannon credit. I watch her videos too, and so many people don’t shout her out, even when it’s obvious they picked up their method/tips/tools from her. Very classy of you. Ok! Back to the video. 🥳
Awww thanks. I always do. It bothers me, also, when others don't. Stay tuned to both of our channels because we're about to release a collaborative High End DIY Dupe video. We thrifted together and have been redoing our items based on expensive inspirations.

How did you sand in between the skinny pieces on the chair back?
I folded a piece of sandpaper and did it by hand.
Awesome transformation! The new bases really modernised them! 😍👏🤩
Thank you! 😄
Honestly, you explained building the base as well as any expert. I have watched numerous videos and using the paper to explain how to measure was the bomb. I am a visual person and that sealed the deal for me. I am now feeling confident that I can build a base And I will be saving this video to follow when I do. I absolutely love what you did to this set.
You just made my morning. 😊 And yes, I’m a visual - and hands on - learner too. I had been intimidated by how to use the Kreg jig. How would I know when to stop drilling, etc. But even the Mini Kreg jig had easy instructions to follow in that regard.
Beautiful! I’m currently working on a similar project and will be building this same base for the dresser for the first time also. Crossing my fingers that it turns out as beautifully as yours did!
You can do it! For two years I kept telling myself,” It’s just wood.” But it IS intimidating the first time, right? Drilling the pocket holes is fun! I’m such a dork!
@@tableflippinghousewife Well, cutting my pieces and drill pocket holes today. I’m going to rewatch your video and the DIY wife video. 😮🤞
@@pfles1please circle back and let me know how it goes.
How did the cutting and drilling go?
@@tableflippinghousewife Meh... I spilt one leg (guess I tightened screws too much). It was hard getting everything square by myself, and had the same issues you did with boards pulling apart. (Clamps to the rescue!) Overall, it looks ok. Here's hoping this sells! Thanks for your encouragement!😃
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THE BASES!!!! OMG it's so beautiful!
@@49rsfam64 thank you!!!!
@@tableflippinghousewife You're so very welcome.
Stunning! DDecker
Wonderful job. They look amazing.
@@becbell74 thank you!
Very useful, and now I know what to do. I would recommend eye protection as well as a respirator when spraying paint.
That's a good idea!
It's all about the base. The pieces look great!
Thank you, Meghan Trainor. 😂
They look great, the new bases make such a difference .
Thank you!!!
Beautiful
Thank you!
This is an awesome tutorial
Menards and Home Depot have shelves and shelves of it.
They turned out beautiful, now I can do mine I have the same ones thanks for sharing ❤
You will be shocked. It never gets old for me.
Nice work. I’m new to this. How many jars of the fusion paint did you use for the set?
Nice work. I’m new to this. How many jars of the fusion paint did you use for the set?
Thank you! Just one jar. 😊
I think this technique is FAB, the gray was to flat....😊
Thank you!
Thank you for this video. My egg chair way overdue for this treatment, now I can plan my restoration :) Don't plan on buying a sander, so I'm in for a workout.
I’d suggest using sanding blocks because they will be easier on your hands and fingers. Buy different grits such as 80 if you have super stubborn areas. 180 or 150 if it looks like the paint will come off easier and then 220 to finish off and make everything smooth. Don’t forget eyewear and a mask or respirator. Good luck!
@@tableflippinghousewife Thank you! I wouldn't have thought of getting coarser grits, so this suggestion will help a lot.
Love how the white unified the set, I'm sure your client was pleased. The closed captioning while I was watching the video said the end table was "naughty pine" instead of knotty. I found that very funny, since that type of wood is challenging with bleed through and cracking.
😂 That’s hysterical. It’s what it sounded like so I did add the caption “knotty” on the screen. But those knots ARE naughty!
Such a pro at staging too!
@@amyjbell08 thank you!
Looks so classy!
I love that you share products and pictures of products! That's been so helpful for me!
Job well done. The end results look great!!
Thanks, Kevin! I appreciate that.
I love how you did the top and front legs different. I would never think of that myself but it looks SO good!
Did you line those drawers? It looks almost like a velvet forest green liner! Whatever you did, it's beautiful!
The drawers were already lined with some sort of velvet before I got them.
You can definitely tell they aren't identical, but they match sooooooo well! You did a great job!!
Thank you! I’ve become obsessed with matching mismatched items.😄
I'm amazed every time I watch one of your videos! Everything always looks so clean, professional, and beautiful!
You just made my day. Thank you!
What would you do if a drawer had water damaged and was bowing out? The top I understand but doing a drawer with water damage has me a little stumped.
If it’s the same kind of surface damage, I would handle it the same way I did here. But if the wood panel as a whole is bowing forward, thats may not be salvageable. Can you send me a picture?
First time make over. Informative for partical board damage
Glad it helped!
This video was very helpful thanks ❤
Glad it was helpful!
The exact hardware that I have for a couple of end tables my Mom had that I am redoing. Thanks for the video!
It's giving midlife crisis.... The had so much more personality before, i think would look great if you had just added some extra details ike the flowers and the different color border like it had before.. but my taste aside, your technique is flawless
Thanks for your feedback. 😉
WOW! Your attention to detail is amazing! How long did it take doing all those pieces at the same time?
Thanks Kevin! It took around 15 hours which includes clean up before and after.
Very elegant! Well done :)
Thank you!
Thank you! This is so timely. I was just gifted 2 French Provincial dressers. They’re from Sears in the 70’s and are all laminate/plywood. I’m going to spray as well as try my hand at using gold leaf. So glad I got to see you paint some first!
Good luck with your project!
These look so good Amy! Very modern and chic looking 😍👏🤩
Thanks so much! 😊
Trying to finish some countryfrench pieces. I’ve sanded cleaned and just finished paint 2 coats of Fusion white picket fence color. Not happy with look of finish It’s flat What should finish be? I like semi gloss certainly not flat Please guide
I don’t find Fusion to have a flat finish. Chalk paint is flat. I find Fusion to be in between matte and semi gloss. Nonetheless, apply a semi gloss or high gloss topcoat if you want a shiny finish. I hope that helps.
@@tableflippinghousewife ok thanks. Does fusion make semigloss or high gloss or which brand would you recommend
@@user-wq3ty4uj1p Not sure about Fusion topcoats. Do they even sell them since Fusion advertises that it is a “no topcoat needed” product? I’m currently using Behr Polyurethane in a Matte finish but it comes in semi gloss. I’ve also used Varathane and Minwax polycrylic. General finishes makes a very good topcoat as well, but I’ve never tried it myself.
So gorgeous! Your work is stunning. You are absolute goals. Having summers off, I hope I can add to my income doing this myself in the future.
You can do it!
It was a very good find indeed ❤
Thanks I didn’t know goodwill sold newspapers
I am in the process of making my garden chairs pretty again. Thank. You for the tips ❤ from Ireland 🇮🇪

I don't usually like these Flipper tubers.. but I did enjoy this one.. Not sure why. 😂 but your voice and background music doesn't irritate as much as others😂😂😂 must be like choosing girlfriends, sometimes you just find someone you like...
That’s hysterical. Great compliment. Thank you!!!!
I just finished a chest with same paint and after it had dried it has a white chalky residue when touched.any idea on how I can proceed from here?
I know!!!! I have continued to use that paint and have always had to add a topcoat. I talk about that in my videos all the time - asking if other people leave dusty fingerprints on that paint. Put a topcoat on it and that will be resolved.
Love these twins!! ❤
Thank you Beth!!! ❤️
