Dennis, back when I was an electrician I could take a little out of conduit bends by gently whacking on the concrete, I was just wondering if that would work with chrome moly?

Always lots of good info. When I raced over 50 years ago I had one rule, if I light the pre stage you light the stage, if you light the pre stage I light the stage. Always thought the tree should have a timer after one car is staged where if the second car doesn't stage in like 5 to 7 seconds the lights start and they red light.

Dennis..your discussion on the gear ratios between the old 1st gearset and the new one was eyeopening stuff to someone who dosen't live those numbers..It hit me in the head like a ton of bricks..Thank you for mentioning the ratio theory..Now I know why some cars have a two speed geared transmission..Bravo !!

Double bulbing isn't cool unless you're going to go in deep stage and you let the person you're racing know you're deep staging. I raced a friend one night. First time we ever pulled up side by side. He deep staged all night until he realized we were paired. I sat on the pre stage waiting on him to go on in deep stage 15 sec. later, I got the red light, and the tree fell on his side. He wiped deep off his window and didn't let me know. Pretty sorry way to do a fellow racer and friend to get a W. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy. You don't forget someone who does you that way regardless of friendship. Don't get me wrong, friends are friends, but when you do a burnout and take the tree, it's all business, but the starting line is not the place to play games.

One other thing is about the trans brake. I don't know if you explained why you lock it up in the transmission and not use the regular brakes. I believe it's so that the suspension isn't under load until the brakes are released, which makes it la what a mess unch harder. Is that correct?

Dennis, I had a suggestion about your vacuum pump for the tires. I discovered a few years ago that the mighty vac oil extractors work really well as a vacuum pump and will pull a full vacuum fairly quickly. So no power is required and l thought you might having one with you anyway. Another option is a diaphragm air compressor which work equally well as a compressor or vacuum pump depending on where you connect your hose.
