Is it possible to appreciate the talent of Dennis Taylor and hate it at the same time? Its not fair for one individual to be so talented at every aspect at car building....its just not fair and at 62 years old Ill watch the entire video then go pout in my room like a child....
👍 I'm 70 and just love this stuff.
@ThumperKJFK so do I...his talent at everything involved with anything automotive is incredible.
Well look on the bright side, at 62 you won't have to long to pout
The best part is he’s showing you how he does it. I live my life by these words “if one man can do it,so can I”. And I feel Dennis does to. Yes not everyone has the fancy tools. But take what you can from the videos and create something for yourself.
@@timhosick4077....I've got the fancy tools and have been in fabrication my entire life. I've been building cars my entire life but still his ability to be extremely talented at every single aspect. Not to mention it seems endless energy to do it...crazy.
The work is fantastic and your panels are amazing. You were right to tip the door panel. It does look better. Great job Dennis!
Your wife is pretty amazing too! Not only is she working the camera, but she helps on the projects. You are a talented and lucky man!
The Taylor family has so much talent.. Each one has their niche but contributes to the team...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL FAMILYS
Your channel has become one of the few I look forward to each week. You may not be a master of everything but you do work miracles. More Debbie and family would be an asset to this content, and consider a road trip in the cabover when finished, please and thank you.
The story of no waste from your Dad and grandfather was also the way my grandfather was no scrap left.Im sure that was because of the era they grew up in also from money and product availability. Great to see that still lives on in some people.Such a pleasure to watch you and listen.
If you have a Coors distributor near you, Coors uses these flat sheets, called skid sheers, to go between the pallets to make it easier to stack them. I did the kick panels, the A pillar trim, and enclosed the area behind the seats. The stuff works great, easy to cut, yet tough. I just closed my shop, but left all the sheets. Best stuff I ever used.
I've been upholstering for over 40 years i started in high school and im impressed... Although i would have done a couple things different everyone has their on way of doing things but over all it's an excellent job
Wow I can’t believe how talented you are I love the way you explain how you are doing things
Hi to yall, yes talent is a wonderful thing, 😮 but like mott things, motivation is seven tenths talent 😊. Dennis and Debbie are a well oiled team, Dennis is a wonderful teacher, years and years of experience.
Love watching your Channel because it's real.
Years of trial and error and success driven by motivation 😊. It's a joy to watch all yall.
Thanks for sharing your build with us, you are as l have said before, a Master craftsman. ❤ & love that your teaching❕️l am looking forward to the next full build that you and Alex will build together, and no mistakes, Debbie & Meg 😮 maybe even some help from N.B. 😊 it takes a team and a great spouse 😊 See you for part two of the interior build, it's looking really, really good 👍. You can be proud, even the "truck screws" it's what makes it a Daily, a Daily that wont require weekly repairs❕️ Look forward to video of your cruises, for a week long to going for a bite & a coffee ☕️ ☕️. 😊
✌🏻🧡 🇨🇦.
Meg and Debbie, thank you for recording Dennis and showing us what talent he has. Debbie you are a Rock Dennis depends on and admired.
I will buy a COE sticker to ship to South Africa.
I sure enjoy you videos Dennis. Thanks for taking the extra time to share your skill and knowledge with us . A big thanks to Debbie also for the time and effort it takes to shoot and edit your videos .
I'm 68 and it's a joy to watch him work. I love how his mind works. He was a Street Rodder back in the day.
Love the story about your dad, you have done him well. You are a true reassurance man.
That willys behind is a beauty👍💪
I would like to share a stereo system secret- foam speaker buckets! They come in all speaker sizes and depths to go behind a speaker, they make any speaker sound twice as nice and give them more bass! Someday you or someone else will thank you if you look into getting another hide of the same color today and put it away just incase. I would recommend putting all rolls of hide or material in a pvc tubes capped on either end and labeled. The cars that you are building now will be collectors items some day just because you are the one who built them and having the materials to keep them looking good for many years to come is one of those things we wish all old cars came with, like the color of that hide. Great work and thanks for bringing us along during this time of making history with hot rods!
Great Job Dennis and Debbie!!! You are some of the reasons I am proud to be an American! Keep up the the great work!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
This channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I love the attention to detail on everything. You can tell Dennis loves this truck. And I’m a sucker for any bab over, let alone a hot rodded cab over.
D/T ' s Rockin the Park and I showed up late... Let the GOOD TIMES ROLL !!!
If Dennis made a video of what he can't do, I could watch it three times in five seconds.
Professor Dennis teaching a master class, great work sir.
The attention to detail is bar none. I would have never thought of the rolled edge on those door panels. I can't wait to see this finished. Thanks Dennis and Debbie for bringing us along!!
That truck really came along way I love the red interior I had a black 66 chevelle with red interior and loved it I had a friend who had a triple black 67 and everyone would always say mine was the better looking car. Can't wait to see it with the seats and the bed on it great job .
I loves me a 66 Chevelle.
There was a silver 67 Chevelle @ SEMA w/ a 100% red interior and was awesome!
Every detail and every decision is just perfect. They all fit together so well. The little details are what make the biggest difference and you're killing it!
No doubt about it you are a genius fabricator. I knew when you were first discussing that door latch linkage there's no way you could leave that alone. And of course your rework was genius. Love your videos keep em coming.
Thank you.
The red reminds me of 80s 90s trucks and I wouldn't change it classy in the right ways
Funny, I was watching the video and when Dennis was talking about the rod that angled up on the door when there was a horizontal groove on the door I thought surely Dennis could modify the rod to run horizontally and still work. Keep watching the video and later on he did exactly that.
Wouldn’t worry about the screws being visible in the cab, even trifive Chevys have screws in the garnish mouldings and door trims.
Great work Dennis 👍
Sammy Hagar 🎸would be proud! Nice interior Mr. Taylor .....
I've got a old mate who is an upholsterer, and even he would struggle to do as good as job as you have done. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of there, that is a first class job.
"I can't stand that sort of thing", I hear ya brother. It is a heavy burden we carry to be a perfectionist! LOL
😂
Where do you get smooth cows that have never been scratched? When people start out poor, they get more creative. LOL! I had to make do with what was affordable and use parts and pieces other racers were selling cheap. Dennis is a talented man.
My dad was the same. He was a teacher and every summer he'd build a house and sell it. I don't remember a lot left over.
Learnt heaps, I hope you show the detail on how you cover your amazing console.
I got James Carter to cover a motorcycle seat for me a few years ago, Dennis. It was a green stitched flame seat to match my 99 Harley Davidson FXR3. He is an awesome seat guy!!!
The Maltese Cross really got a lot of flak, especially Jessie James motor cycle air cleaners and T-shirts. I personally don’t have a problem with it. In fact, I’m German and love it. ✌🏻
Character for daze. You know that wood truck beds started during WW2 to conserve steel and continued in some GM trucks until 1987
Happy thanks Giving to you and your Family.
Dennis is a Jack of all trades
I believe those inner door skins were the same from 48- early 55. GM never changed them to match the newer latch assemblies. Ford trucks only had one door lock, on the passenger side until 1952, but they never changed the door skins from 48-52. God bless your dad. My dad served in the Navy during WW-2.
Looking cherry my friend. For you kids that means super nice.
Where have the decades gone. Lol
Keeping it simple really works! I am a huge fan of all you do!👍
Another awesome video got so into watching the video was 40min late back from lunch now I gotta meeting with HR at the end of the day 😂 was worth it tho
Hey Dennis and Debbie awesome job on the interior so far I am not an upholsterer but I can find faults and stuff but what I see I love and even if I did see a little fault, I would not say anything. Have a great day.
T shirts?! Stickers?! Hell yeah!! Love your work!
Dr. Ferdinand Porsche is credited with building the 911 because "I couldn't find the sports car I'd been dreaming about, so I built it myself" - I'd say Dennis has built more of his own COE than Porsche did squishing a Beetle. Very well done, sir.
For the door panels used 3/32” aluminum and put one soft bend almost diagonally then used 1/2” x 3/16” flat weatherstrip all the way around, used just large oval head machine in stock location. That gave plenty of room for the linkage.
I also used Chevy van swing out side window hardware on the rear window. Had to have the glass, tempered, made, but those little cabs get really hot and it really helps.
I really appreciate you taking the time to video all this and show us some tips and tricks on how to do different things greatly appreciated and it looks spectacular
Love how the Taylors do almost everything tnemselves. Anyone can farm everything out and pay a butt load of money but I, like you, believe that even if it is not the best, I did it myself and learned.
I’d be extremely proud to have your knowledge and no nonsense way of just doing it. You’re doing a great job.
Dennis, nicely done mate!
Dennis and Debbie your range of skills is second to none I appreciate you bringing us along . I hope Nickky Bobby is wise enough to spend as much time with you as he can I haven’t known many people to be so versatile in my 57 years and definitely not to your skill level . I think Nick is real sharp I just hope he can absorb as much as he can from you . We need these skills to be passed on to future generations
I am excited to see this at PRI. If you are around, I will try to say hello. Thanks for sharing!
Turning out great
The difference between american leather and italian leather is the fact that barbed wire is american in origin. Italians dont use it. Hence none of those "scratches".
Useless trivia for today.
Dennis, My first thought when you showed the console and said you made it 4 or 5 years ago was what a testament to your fab skills that you still liked what you made then. My brain wouldve found something that had to be fixed or changed.
Or maybe its just a statement on how helter skelter my brain is... lol either way, im loving this build and your channel. Keep it up, its a dying art.
I love how you use the overhauling music on your opener
Ya had me trying to peek around you to see in side the truck! I just love these videos. That truck is going to be amazing!
LOL. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you.
Ha Ha Ha - caught myself doing the same thing. 😂
I would like to wish you and your family Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
I do want a couple business cards I will be at the PRI show. Cannot wait to see that truck. You do awesome work great video.
Thanks for another awesome video 📹. It's amazing watching you build anything from nothing.
Your Dad sounds like my Dad. He also was a ww2 veteran and built houses. Also would have very little scrap leftover.
A matching chrome strip like the roof on the rear panel up top would look good
Dennis you can do it all , phenomenal work !
Nice !
Again another AMAZING video full of GREAT information and showcasing your skills!! Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future.
Looks amazing, such a talant this man has but that's with the whole family so glad that you started your channel
How good is this constant video from a genius
Legend dennis keep em coming
Happy turkey day to you Taylor family ❤uall ok later 🏁
Very interesting content...You are such an artist
Awesome work as usual! It would be cool for you guys to do a walk around of some of the cool trinkets and stuff around the shop, I just noticed the little mini Woody in the rafters for the first time that thing is pretty cool!
Next episode! Next episode! 😂 Can't wait until then!
Nice work, I think this is just what I needed to finish my interior door panels, I did not like the flat look of the panel either and stopped working on it months ago. I had no idea about "tipping". Headed to the garage now! like no joke. Thank You!!
That's a very impressive center console!! Just made my first console out of wood and then bent 1/2" acrylic for the arm rest and then have a couple amplifiers and L. E. D 's. Thanks for your videos!!
A big yes on the tipping dies, I use them to brake sheetmetal that is curved and can't be broke with the brake, like when the rear wing meets the deck lid at the wrong angle. The possibilities are endless.
That truck has got to be the world's coolest unpainted COE.... EVER!!......The stickers and biz cards would make good dash plaques or fridge magnets..... Where are you making the merch available?........I love lurking in your shop through these videos and hearing and seeing every small detail explained..... Keep the videos coming!
Your one of the best in my eyes, keep up the good work.
Great job…can’t wait…
Happy turkey Day lol. Learned yesterday Abraham Lincoln made thanksgiving day a holiday in middle of civil war to celebrate every thing god has gave us. Never hear that anywhere anyway really liking the show glad you started it 😊
I have seen some of the earlier models have the inner door handle straps lower in that channel. I have changed sides and flipped them over but was only able to use 2 holes to bolt them on. Nice coe
Man Dennis, can you bring this beast on power tour next year?
Dennis you have been truly blessed Godbless you both Have a Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving to you.
Dennis, that interior is awesome. So simple but really elegant at the same time. Sometimes less is more!
Dennis think about speakers like engine timing. You're putting two speakers on left side playing same sound, one right next to your ear and another one 3ft away next to your knee. The sound waves will come to your ear different time. It would sound better with less speakers because timing would be better. Ideally all speakers near the dash, so distance from each speaker to listener is as equal as possible.
Depending on the stereo he chooses to use some of the newer stereos have the option to fade and delay each speaker channel! It makes it easier to blend and (time) each speaker!
@ sure, but still having one speaker next to your ear is bad idea
@ not after running a grinder for several years. lol
It's turning out beautiful Dennis. Hope I have opportunity to see it in person some day.
Absolutely amazing ! I am thinking there is nothing you cannot do. I think your upholstery work is right on. Thank you for the instructional video , always appreciated.
Just awesome Dennis and Debbie. That's a show stopper, COE!!
Dennis you are a true craftsman! Thank you Debbie for your hard work. Love the stickers.
Those hides must have been pasture cattle they are always reaching through the fences grass is always greener there. Love the COE business card and the sticker. My uncle was 93 and he died this year he was a farmer and he just sold his 53 Chev COE he used it on the farm in the 70s he painted it plum crazy and he never changed the color again.
Attention to detail, organization, and willingness to spend the time to get the job done right. I agree with your call on might seem basic but when its all buttoned up. All the pieces will be a nice contrast to one another in the cab. Nice headliner and nice neat trim pieces. That looks very sharp.
will you have a single hidden sub woofer to round out the audio? I find that really rounds out the audio while the vehicle is in motion, road noise typically cancels the smaller speakers ability to produce bass sounds. I like having a sub to round out the sound that you hear while driving. Works with rock, big band and classical. That is what I typically listen to when on trips.
This COE is looking killer Dennis. The red leather looks great. I hope I get to see this truck in person. How can we get the shirts and stickers?
Just amazed with the entire build! It just keeps getting better!! The headliner is great and the amount of speakers is right up my alley! Thanks for your videos as always
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽 awesome job Dennis
2 times a year the amish have a leather auction in Mt. Hope Ohio. U can buy leather at a real resonable price👍
Thanks for the tip.
Thank you for sharing what you are doing! I love to see masters at work and you are one of the best!
I paint my trim screws and the trim washers so they match the fabric to hide them.
Looks great Dennis! Thanks for the video.
You are a perfectionist. Love watching you work and your explanation of job at hand
Thank you Mike.
Love your videos Dennis, you’re a true craftsman!
Great job Dennis you are so talented!
Outstanding! Loving it!!
