- This is a first time for all of us! I have never seen my COE with all of the parts installed like this. I finally like it again! It's finally starting to look like a truck again.
We have some more videos upcoming for you guys, including more fabrication orientated with the bed videos coming soon.
We're thinking of filming something about the history of how the business came to bed and my back story in the car world. If that's something you guys would be interested in hearing, let me know in the comments.
Thank you all for following along!

I think Debbie needs a pay increase for holding your doors, installing windows, filming episodes, feeding the family and anything else required. Truthfully the WHOLE Taylor family is pretty AWESOME.
I would help out and just hold doors or whatever to just learn from this man imagine all the knowledge techniques and history 💯🏁🙏🏆
Panning to the dogs is twiddling thumbs while waiting.
@@lancehowlett3910 WHAT?
@@danstitt5629 Dennis went off camera looking for an old screw driver to heat up,narrating but doing nothing…Debbie panned the camera to the dogs….the term twiddle your thumbs is like saying don’t mind us we’ll just wait…
@@lancehowlett3910 Got it!
And watching Debbie hold that door, I’m thinking she would be the only one that would be able to hold my dad’s flashlight without getting hollered at
That truck is you Dennis, awesome job 🎉. Deb your a Queen such a help, very few like you these days, congrats. Thanks for sharing 😊😊!!!!!
Dennis it is such a delight to watch your energy develope with this project. You are like a kid in a candy store. Hang in there, you are amazing. Love watching your show and Alex's as well.
Glad you decided to have your own channel. Enjoying the technical info. Thanks for the velcro idea..cheers
Thank you for starting this channel! It's so enjoying to me to watch your videos. I've been a loyal viewer since the early badmaro dragweek stuff with Alex. You are an artist and it has been amazing to watch you create these works of art.
My initial thoughts:
"There's no way I'm gonna watch an hour long video - I've got stuff to do"
"I'll watch it in instalments"
"Oh, what?"
"It's finished already!"
Yet another fun and interesting video.
Thanks, Team Taylor.
Love the dry humour. Thanks for the Velcro hack
This brings back fond memories.... As a kid, my Dad had the same truck. His was painted black room and black fenders with a yellow cab. He built his own dove tail bed out of steel and wood. The truck was used to carry his bulldozer which he used for his business for 15 years. Even as a kid, I helped him in the shop working on both the truck and bulldozer. Thanks for the videos and build.
Awesome memories 👍
Not only is he an amazing vehicle builder the fact that he put Ramones in this video also shows he's got awesome music taste 🍻
What a guy!... and Debbie, you are without a doubt an amazing woman, an amazing wife (based on your interactions with Dennis), and, an amazing mother (based on your interactions with your daughters).
Back in the day..maybe 1924 till 1968, my grandfather was COO of a baking company in Charleston,WV..His fleet of bread trucks, when I was visiting the backery, circa 1955 to 1962, was COE, GMC like the one we see here . His trucks had gas engines in them.. huge gas engines..that made NO horse power, but Lots of noise. His fishin buddy came to the backery twice a month to pick up all the out dated bread and packaged cupcakes and stuff they sold, to suplent feed his hogs he raised...I rode with him to his farm where I spent the summers..120 miles over the mountains on Rt. 60..It took 7 hours to make that trip in one of those early 1950's COE trucks..Full on Adventuring, every mile..best times of my life !!!
Cool truck, with The Ramones, and only 4 minutes in! Im loving it!
Glad you’re enjoying it so far!
Yes sir *onehundreadpersent'ralph
The COE is looking great. You and Deb make a great team. My vote on the door is what Deb said.
I would love to hear your back stories and history. Loving the Ramones time lapse music. So glad you started your own channel.
You need to fab lower door panels from metal to prevent the inevitable scuffs from exiting passengers. The upper panels could be leather, wood, or something that matches the era.
Sound deadener on the inside will kill the ringing and make it feel/sound solid.
Great truck ! Thanks for showing us.
Dennis my brother it’s definitely not a piece of junk it’s bad ass. Years ago when Alex made the video when you were trying to make cab pivot over I fell in love with it and knew it was going to be awesome
Patina outside , Cadilac inside , class
Two piece door panel, Great job!!!
Great video Dennis and Debbie..... You said that truck was 71 years old...THAT isnt that old!!!! It was the year I was born 🤣🤣🤣 Love the truck and your work!!!!
Great job on bringing the cab over back to life. You need a work table on wheels to put your tools and parts on. You’re killing me watching you put everything on floor and constantly bending over to pick stuff off the floor😆
Oh man.. Let the Good Times roll !! D/T rockin the park..
The COE is a engineering work of art, definitely please keep it
I would love to hear your back stories
Hey Dennis that truck is almost as old as me,I am a 72 year old Marine and I love this build and am so glad you got back on it.
As a old mechanic that farmed besides working, our old trucks had turn signals that were yellow on the front and red toward the back, if the sun bared down on the red ones, they'll fade out to pink, in your case it might be white.
When i did my 40 Mack EE truck, the latches were riveted in and one was broken, used air compressor rivets that covered a new compressor mounting and put threads on them to make them look original. Gave me two 1st place trophies the first 3 shows. Close to original counts!! 😊
Sounds kool, maybe post a few pix.
Thanks for starting this channel Dennis, I am living vicariously through you..😁... I've watched your daughter's channel for years and all through your 55 build, I used to build cars and race as you do, life circumstances changed and I'm no longer able to do it but I am enjoying watching you and your wife build...keep it up, you're doin great!!
i have seen this truck over the years in Alex videos. I am so glad you got some time to fall back in love with the project, and thank you for taking us all on the journey of finishing the truck. looking forward to seeing the bed be built and the rest of the truck being finished. the videos are great by the way, very informative.
Nice! Looking forward to the next video
Dennis! I had a flatbed truck 30 years ago the hood did not have a latch on it well I was coming home from work one day too fast and the hood on that ol truck did come up driving down the road. a man made a part to hold the hood down and took a bolt and bent it like a horseshoe and put a nut on it never came up again and also nobody knew how to open the hood, however it had a 40 gallon saddle tank and it was full the next morning the Guage kept reading empty stopped to fill up and it took 40 gallon so someone got 40 gallon of gasoline free! if you want visors for your guages they have them at truck stop chrome shops they snap on and cut down on glare running at night. I have old cars that have woodgrain around the mechanical Guage cluster package and I like that! thanks dennis sure do enjoy your videos!
Nice COE, my COE is GMC too and is a 1948 truck. 48-50 is no side vent windows and are “framed” glass. My engine is a 12 valve Cummins. Thank you, I really enjoy you videos, George.
Dennis, you are a blessed man. My wife and I could never work together. You two are a joy to watch. Do you ever get on each others nerves? Don't ever stop doing this. I so much enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Yes Dennis I to love it too. I love your velcro idea. Yes, yes !! How to do the holes is great (no drill). Dennis, observe your forgetfullness, You'll find that the item is right in front of your nose but it took five times around the shop and then "there it is". Goes with the territory. I'm loving watching your video's. Thanks to that lovely lady (i believe shes your beautiful wife working with you. Wow great team and a great project. On the door, how about brushed stainless or leather is fine. Like the grill, I think chrome to match the wheels. Dennis, your truck is no piece of Junk! Your making it fabulous.
I’m sure you love all your builds like I have but this one is so special in everything! Never sell
The minute those new strikers show up you will find old ones . Never fails
Your COE is only 10 years older than me, and it looks awesome!
The COE is looking good, and the headlights are way cool with the color options.
Your COE looks wicked cool. Nice job. I can’t wait to see the finished product
I wouldn’t worry bout the door panels till you get the entire interior in , also when I have a door dragging I pull a piece of computer paper between the jam & door till I find the rub.
Great video , keep it up!
Dynamic Duo" for sure,,awesome teamwork, brilliant results, 😊
Love your work, your coe is part of reason I am going to keep daily driving my 04 bbc and keeping it old school power.
Debbie is Right Leather Top & Leave the paint 😊
Really enjoyed hearing about the truck. waiting for more.
Great mechanic and fabricator.
This is quickly becoming my favorite show!
Leave the bottom of the door panel painted and leather the top part. Do your best to color match the leather to the truck interior the best you can. With your experience the truck wont be perfect but in your eyes it will. Love the new channel. Are you going to have Alex & Nick help you in any way with the rest of the build or do it solo ? Can't wait to see the future of this truck on the road. It would make a great tow vehicle as well. With all your experience on your channel & Alex's channel that connection makes the video more real and entertaining. Cant wait to see the finished product. Definitely Old School design with modern tech.
👍👍 Thank You Dennis 👍👍
Velcro be awesome & to 'burn' holes is mint. Cut & drilling brings frays.
YOUR CHOICE!!, Leather ontop & paint.
👌 Mint windows 👌
Hey there Dennis ,
Beautiful old 53 , I think distressed leather in either western saddle or oxblood color would be perfect ! 😊😊😊
I like the idea of the smaller leather door panel just at the top like original, the contrast between the leather and the metal will look great!
Love this! Love the videos and the channel! Glad you are sharing these projects!
I really loved seeing your enthusiasm in a project that is so unique. Thanks for sharing you excitement. Ps. Your wife is exactly the definition of "ride or die"😊
Badass ride!!!!
I love all the details and the expressions for everything great videos. At least 1 hr is a great time
That truck is so cool.
At 22 mins, Deb is about to smack you while she holds the door and you're explaining the universe! 😂
I'm glad to see you finally got the quake LED lights in. I am that someone!!!
Bad ass COE, DT!! Thanks for the updates, and Debbie, the videos are awesome!!
Dennis you have hit the jackpot with that COE truck. Good job brother
Rig looks amazing !.. Glad I swallowed my coffee before you said that grille was made to run over cows !. 🤣😂
I would keep the black grill look and paint the turn signal housings and headlight trims to match. Looks great Dennis! Happy for ya. Keep up the good work.
Keep up the awesome videos Mr Dennis. God Bless
Love this build! Yeah, I agree with leather at the top and paint on the rest of door. A big old chrome grill would really look good!
WOW super cool truck awesome thanks Dennis
Thumbs up for the History video. The truck just keeps getting better!!!!! Thanks for the video.
Debbie and Dennis... best u tube channel EVER!!!
GREAT
PRESENTATION YOUR A NATURAL AT THIS.
This thing is gonna be deluxe when you get it finished, it’s looking great so far.
You were right. I absolutely LOVE everything about this truck…except…those stoopid Ben Hur lug nuts! And yeah, I’m an old guy. 😂
Painted would be great that’s the nostalgic look of the truck
I put the flush mount push button hood pins on my truck, but put the pins on the underside of the hood and the push button catch mounted on the rad support, reach your hand through the grill to push the release button, turned out nice and very secure.
awesome, its cool listening to the Ramones and watching you and Deb work together!
The hood latch for this truck is the two mini arms that you use to open hood, on the engine side under hood was originally a simple hook that each latch connected too. It work great and is simple and small to add. This is how my 48 works.
Your a legend Denis,I wish I had half your talent, keep on trucking mate🇦🇺🇦🇺
sir, im so glad your now doing videos. your skill and knowledge is amazing and needs to be shared. your long winded in all the right ways showing us the details and methodology behind what your doing and teaching us all new and old tricks alike. thanks and keep grinding!
Yep the 3m velcro is awesome. It's really sticks and grabbes to carpet fibers also.
I believe the white turn signal is just sunburned. On semis by DOT specs it has to be orange forward and red towards the back. It’s probably why Debbie couldn’t find the lens in that color. Loved the build
Never thought about velcro in that way, thanks for the tip!
The second the music kicked in for the Timelapse, I was trying to picture a younger Dennis, casually moshing away to the Ramones.
Love the Velcro idea. Doing a 55' Ford truck now, will definitely use it.
Great show y'all.
I spent 3 days trying to get the doors on my Henry steel 32 3 window back on and lined up. I'd take a piece of paper and run around the edges with the door closed to find where it was hitting, adjust and do it again. I ended up having to shim the body a little here and there. They aren't perfect but they close and all the lines are lined up.
I looked in a box of parts for the coupe many times for a particular piece and couldn't see it. I was frustrated because it was a special part that would be $$$ to replace. I looked one more time and there it was, wrapped up in paper to keep it safe.
I've found the best ways to find parts that I KNOW I have...somewhere...is to look for something else or order new ones. But first I look under my nose. Many times it's just my nose in the way. LOL
So rad! Keep on keepin' on.
What a beautiful piece of rolling art
Very cool ! that must have been a bear to maneuver inside that door . That shade of red is killer 👍
Outstanding video thanks Dennis
Love these COE trucks of all kinds. Nice work.
Dennis being a panel beater myself the passenger lower door hinge needs to come out a couple of mm that in turn will give you clearance where it hits on the bottom while leaving an even gap it will also bring the top of the door at the back in a couple of mm on your footage when closing the door the rear bottom was level with the quarter but the top was out a little bit moving a hinge in or out will make the diagonal of the door do the opposite of what you did if that makes sense but the coe looks fugn amazing cheers from down under
It’s a good feeling to get rejuvenated on a stalled project.
The truck is looking great it's going to be nice once you build the bed can't wait till you start that. Great. Video.
Nice to watch someone with your skills. Love the truck
The truck is really coming along nicely 👍👍
in the bodyshop world we use a sheet of tablet paper to check the fitment on those frisky fitting doors and hatches on hatchback suv just push the door closed just until you feel tension on the paper that you will be trying to pull out while you continually push the door closed this will give you a water tight fit but it will also help with showing where your door is touching the body jam
At first sight, the truck reminds me of Hulk Hogan's mustache😂❤
The turn signal Lollypops I don't care for, you can get drop-in dual contacts with wires and a new spring.
Works great. Did it on my 1951 F1 delivery panel in the late 60s. The Lollypops always were amber and red, the amber is sun bleached. White facing to the rear is illegal.
Dennis it's really coming together , looks awesome
I really enjoy your new channel. Debbi is a trooper.
Looking good Dennis, two weeks before dragweek i put Lionhart tires on the back of my Tundra that I drove in dragweek. I was surprised to see them tires on your COE GMC.because i never heard them till i found them on Ebay. Keep up the good work.see you next summer.
Ya I'm liking the painted door with a leather upper door panel
Nice work Dennis. I appreciate you sharing how the truck went together. Helps with my Chevy COE build. Did you resolve your engine issues yet?
Grey leather upper and lower door panels with the painted center in red would look great.
that truck is something never seen reminds me of cars the movies and i like that cartoon look
Yeah I remember my 51 Chevy 3100. Had to lock the drivers door slide across the seat and lock the passenger door with the key.
