Leave the mud flaps! They kind of finish off the rear end of the truck!! I like the look!! Dennis, you and Miss Deb have done an awesome job finishing up the COE!! You deserve to be proud!!
Dennis I can’t find words to describe how gorgeous you made this beautiful COE.Everything about it is amazing to see and hear.Simply stunning.Thank you for sharing your channel with us!
Believe it or not I’m so proud of the whole family the hard work that y’all put in everything y’all do besides everything y’all do that’s as a family working together see one gold and go and get it. God bless y’all keep up the good work.
My granparents lived 30 miles north of Indy..In the 1950's, we would drive from Niagrara Falls,NY to Sheridan for Thanksgiving..1957 Ford Country Squire..4 kids, two parents..chained up..T-Bird Special Y-Block through 3 feet of Lake Effect Snow all the way.. Best times ever..and that 312 Y-Block in a 3.54/1 posi 9 inch would just GO and GO !! Temp averaging about 5 degrees.
The comparison of Mika to the COE is hilarious!!! Too funny. Man I love this truck. Everything about it. You've GOT to keep it! You've put part of yourself in it.
Thanks Dennis for sharing your enthusiasm. I've been building drag cars for over sixty years. The world at large has no real idea. Have a good holiday. Go pedal is on the right.
You amaze me with all your many talents and dedication, even if there are a few hiccups along the way. I love everything about it. May you have many miles of smiles. Blessings
I’m about 90 minutes north of Indy, by the state line. Lived here all my life. Have a winter home in Arizona, never go there. I love this state. Glad you guys can visit. Come back in the summer.
Dennis, you are a true artist and craftsman with skills far beyond a mortal man. This truck brought back some distant memories of my childhood in the 50's and 60's. I remember seeing trucks with manual turn signal arms mounted on the driver's side cab. They were metal arms about 18" long with reflectors. These would be a great addition to your COE. I also recall round turn signal lens that had an arrow blacked out on them. You didn't put any stake pockets in but I think some 12" to 18" side boards with slats far enough apart to still view the bed would add some balance between that big cab and the this thin bed.
Truck turned out great. Good job Debbie with all your help. I'm sure you did much more than we saw on the video. Mudflaps look good because they are not too big. Lights on the bed also a nice addition. Trick front bumper is trick. Spikes, meh it's your truck, run what you like. Your style is unique and you are a master fabricator, it's a pleasure to watch your videos.
I’ve really enjoyed getting to watch this build. Thanks for taking the time to show us your thought process too! I hope there’s plenty more videos to come on the DTR UA-cam channel. I’d watch you build anything.
You have executed one of my bucket list builds, thank you and congratulations. Beautiful and perfect balance of old, new, original and precision engineering.
To say you nailed this truck is a huge huge understatement Dennis! You my friend have a great sense of style this Truck is probably my favourite of your builds enjoy mate
It just looks really cool Dennis!!!!! Plus you had your entire family together, that really is the best part! Hell, even go fast and stay pretty was running around smiling!!!!! Anyway much love Taylors!!!!
I used t drink 4 six packs of Diet Dr. Pepper per day. I can relate to your addiction. That said, I quit back in 2016 and I still can't believe how much better I feel after quitting. I have experienced a lot of great health benefits after quitting. The only bummer was it took more than a month to wean myself off because if had to cut down a few cans per day or i'd have a headache like you can't imagine from the sudden lack of caffeine. Believe me, caffeine addiction is way worse than you think. LOVE the truck, and the craftsmanship is (as always) over the top incredible.
24 cans of soda A DAY!! You are lucky to be alive after all that sugar. That's what caused your headaches, sugar withdrawal. Well done for saving your life!
@@CS_247 No sugar in Diet Dr. Pepper. Aspertame is the sweetener. Actually, aspertame is the most unhealthy component of pretty much all diet soft drinks.
@@CS_247 There's no sugar in most DIET soft drinks. Aspartame is used as the sweetener in most diet soft drinks, which is actually worse for your health than processed sugar. When aspartame is metabolized, a small amount of methanol is produced, which can be converted into formaldehyde in the body. Daily Aspartame intake puts you at risk of a higher predisposition to non-Hodgkin Lymphomas and uniary tumors. Aspartame can cause the formation of Aβ-amyloid fibrils, which are linked to Alzheimer's disease. It can also increase plasma phenylalanine levels, which can affect neurotransmitter concentrations in the brain. Bottom line, it's better for your health to avoid Aspartame.
I think some of the orange lights on the front of the top might look pretty cool too. The little orange lights that are on some trucks and big rigs. There's like 3 or 4 on each side center of the windshield. I've seen them in orange, white or clear, maybe you could find some old ones 👀👍😍🔥
so great to see you driving this little beast at long last... You've built an exceptional truck and i wouldn't change a thing... as i see from other comments, the mudflaps are a nice way to tie up the back end of the truck, if you wanted to add anything back there, maybe your logo, but all in all it's so tidy the way it is... thanks again for sharing this build and we all look forward to what comes next.
Dennis! You are a riot!! Like the build. Top notch. As with everything you build. Sit back and enjoy the ooo's and ahhh's! Interesting how Meg and Alex keep you on the straight and narrow...
dirty, mean, nasty, wicked on the mudflaps that one always draws attention. the coldest I have ever been in was 1993 it was -22 below trying to get that o'l truck started at 3:00 am that took forever and I was the only one that ran that day, everybody else called off at 4:00 pm it was 0 degrees. you folks did a good job on the truck it really looks nice and sounds good too. only a suggestion grab handles on the side of the doors and a spotlight on drivers side that would bring it back even more to the 50's the spot lights can be used in foggy conditions as long as it's facing the white line and they follow the line and it helps out a lot. nice ride, thank you Dennis, for bringing this truck back to life. the truck will get all the attention. thanks Dennis, appreciate the videos. 😀✌️
So freaking cool. That cat from Martin Brothers in Texas throw a brush in his hand he could do those doors anywho so glad there's no actuator on that bumper chop chop son let's do it oval window.
Looks Great! been following for a while love what you do.. The bed is Beautiful. Everything goes great together. Just a suggestion is Turn Signal arrows on the back on the outside of the d-ring tie downs maybe. or turn arrows on back.
I think 2 2x6 or 2x8 for the sides of the bed would look really good. Stacked on top of each other. 2 boards high. And do just a light quick sand, stain them with some dark brown reddish stain, do a quick couple coats of clear. I've used rattle can automotive clear before and it worked good, more of a sealer than anything. Maybe spray 3-4 quick coats. Have the sides be quick removable if possible, maybe incorporate some steel and make them rusty/vintage looking and spray them with clear. Remember!!,, Nothing over the top, just do those quick steps as I mentioned and if you wanted to add doing a quick sand of the boards and final coat of clear that would work too. Maybe you want to do a couple light quick coats of the clear you already have on hand, that would probably work too. The few times I used the automotive clear coats it turned out really good.
I really hope that you are teaching somebody.Your skills so they are not lost. You are an amazing builder, an amazing father, an amazing husband please teach somebody your skills, so they're not lost.Thank you
Lol, yeah , a visor would look like dog dirt on that wreck. (Wink, wink) lol. Dennis is like a kid christmas morning, he just builds his own presents. In all seriousness, kudos on an awesome ride!!
I remember coming up when trucks were used as trucks and of course comfort was not the main reason for trucks. Trucks were used to truck, that is carry stuff or perform industrial chores, or service as a farm truck. In short they were a tool used in the business of commerce. Like all other phases of the automotive industry trucks have evolved as to what sells due to consumer demand. Of course this truck is now a show truck and it has been rightly rescued for that purpose. It really shows the creativity of folks who do this type of restoration. There are of course many folks who do restore these older trucks to the way they came from the factory, and that is also well received as a representation of history. There are still a few folks who remember learning to drive trucks in models like this and I know of a few who learned how to drive a truck such as this. Of course in our modern times the younger people who get into trucking drive a plush Cadillac compared to the what was available when this truck was manufactured. That's a fine truck you have there and it really looks right and has some good ideas. Well done🥸👍👍👍👍👍👍
The mudflaps look good, it finishes off the back of the truck.
The DTR logo on the mud flaps would be epic!
Just not too large.
Just one small logo somewhere is enough. Otherwise it looks like something from Roland Sands....🙄
Leave the mud flaps! They kind of finish off the rear end of the truck!! I like the look!!
Dennis, you and Miss Deb have done an awesome job finishing up the COE!! You deserve to be proud!!
I absolutely love the truck, great craftsmanship... keep up the good work.
you are an incredible artist sir !
Great Build , you had me watching every step of the way.
Keep the flaps, so kooool!
Mudflaps are a great finisher to the tail end. The length is on point👌
Debbie is a trooper. Dennis is a blessed man to have a partner that is such a help to this guy. Truck is really neat, so much detail and looks great.

Man I love this truck. Everything about it. You've GOT to keep it! You've put part of yourself in it.
A visor on top of the windshield might look good too🤔🤔
Yet another testament to Dennis’s building talent. As a thought 💭, maybe hand make the GMC emblem out of aluminum
Thanks Dennis for sharing your enthusiasm. I've been building drag cars for over sixty years. The world at large has no real idea. Have a good holiday. Go pedal is on the right.

The thing looks amazing Dennis, I can't wait to see it on Friday. Looking forward to hopefully meeting all of you.
Actually, that beer keg idea is interesting. Making it into a beer delivery truck theme might be fun!...old used up beer kegs from the fifties
Really unbelievable with all you do, quite the builder and artist! Your best build is the family closeness you share !
I’m about 90 minutes north of Indy, by the state line. Lived here all my life. Have a winter home in Arizona, never go there. I love this state. Glad you guys can visit. Come back in the summer.
Keep being you!! Like the Spikes and the mud flaps helps the overall look!!!

those lights that go across the front & back are called ICC. lights. that info, is from a old trucker, ME...
so great to see you driving this little beast at long last... You could even use a torch on the side boards make them look a bit more weathered, light quick sand and then stain them dark 👍
Happy to see your vision come together. Your truck looks amazing. Talented hands too put together what your imagination sees.
The COE looks gr8 just the way it is!! Don't change a thing!!
Kewl having Alex doing this episode with y’all…
0:59 its awesome 👌 👏
The mud flaps look good. Subtle but functional. Looks good the way it is and I like the spikes.
