    Thanks Gene! I'm exactly in that moment of my life. I'm not starting from zero, I'm already a pilot with some experience and with the possibility, if all works well, to fly one of these birds. Very difficult decision.

    Your information on the number of people is inaccurate. There were 12 souls, not 13. I view many plane crash reports and it is rarely the plane that fails. It is mostly lack of skils and lack of the ability to know ones limits. To be proficient, you need to consistently train. Especially if you carry passengers.

    Does anyone think that it's a good idea to have a second pilot if the one pilot is a senior citizen(older than 65 y/o)...as was the case in this crash? I'm one year younger than this pilot(67 y/o), and I know that my reaction time is not what it used to be. Just a thought. I truly wish that this group had flown commercial...since it was cross-country. May they all RIP.

    Apparently the captain bought isopropyl alcohol and tried de-icing the aircraft himself before departure. (What was he thinking really 🤔) i guess there wasn't a proper departure briefing either nor a TEM. The conversation with the ATC is also astonishing, giving warnings not to go and still he kept on going . They paid the hard price The biggest shame goes to the pilot who put the family member's life in his hand and didn't respect their safety (which should be number one when transporting people)

    @zbo2 11 днів тому

    Sad this had to happen to this family. The fact that he overloaded the plane on the flight back make you suppose that it was overloaded on its arrival the day before. Then you have to ask yourself how many other times the pilot had done this. The fact that he had more occupants in the plane than it was certified for kinda tells a sad story that he has (broken) the standards before and unfortunately the occupants/family suffered for his mistakes.

    If the autopilot abruptly disconnects, it may startle the less proficient pilot who may let his instincts takeover and overreact , instead of referring to the HSI which all aircraft have and to level the wings . I dont believe single GA pilots hand fly the aircraft enough to maintain their proficiency and rely too heavily on automation .

      Thank you for your prompt response 👍. In the meantime, I found out why it is different. Yours is a Carenado where mine is a Simwork model. Apparently, the latter has a better model closer to the reality but is missing the MFD and also weather radar ... Thanks for the good work you bring us. Most of it i use in IRL while flying a smaller plane. 👍✈️

    The Nelons....a name synonymous with Southern Gospel music, along with groups like Wendy Bagwell and the Sonlighters, The Hemphills, The Hinsons, Gov. Jimmie Davis, The Lewis Family, The Hoxworths, The Kingsmen among others. Kelly Nelon (Clark or Thompson, however best remembered) got a big start with her father, the late Rex Nelon, through The Rex Nelon Singers, and the first version of The Nelons. Tragically, they join secular country and rock music greats like Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper and John Denver in passing in such similar fashion: plane crashes. (True, there are others, but these came to mind immediately.) I can imagine that Gospel Stations, especially Southern Gospel stations, have had tributes to the Nelons, and specials featuring their music, and can gather that the NQC will have a tribute to them in the next convention. RIP to Kelly, her husband, daughter,son in law, and others that were in that flight.

    Great video. I was considering the PC12 as a pilot-owner, but there seems to be a pattern of this situation happening with the PC12. Going to look at other options.

      I’d hate to steer you away from the Pilatus. It’s a great ship - one of the best. These accidents were caused more by pilot actions than the airplane itself. The PC-12 has long enjoyed an excellent safety record. Thanks for watching.

    I am about to show my lack of knowledge concerning this subject. I will inquire anyway. If they are in a graveyard spiral at 26,000 feet per minute. How would leveling the wings help? You have less than a minute to do this? It would certainly take the plane time to adjust. One minute is nothing. Also, the sudden decompressing of the aircraft could cause the lungs to collapse. Thus, leading to an unconscious state? Must hope this never happens to them. It doesn't mean it can't. Spatial disorientation is difficult to overcome. It doesn't only happen dealing with aircraft. It increases with age or other medical problems. I am only inquiring. I am not assuming anything. I sure to travel as a flight nurse. Total focus at that time was on the patient.

    I appreciate your critique of this pilot and giving him some slack on his go/no go decision. So are you saying that his bad decision was not turning around and returning to the airport? Because he clearly made a mistake, unfortunately. And if most professional pilots, given the weather conditions prior to leaving, would have made the same “go” decision, then the only thing standing in the way of a similar disastrous outcome would be turning around and returning to the airport. Yes, that is a scary situation. I don’t know, but something seems to be missing. Otherwise, I would think there would be more accidents like this. Or was this a case of really severe and unusual icing conditions?
