Sad this had to happen to this family. The fact that he overloaded the plane on the flight back make you suppose that it was overloaded on its arrival the day before. Then you have to ask yourself how many other times the pilot had done this. The fact that he had more occupants in the plane than it was certified for kinda tells a sad story that he has (broken) the standards before and unfortunately the occupants/family suffered for his mistakes.

Your information on the number of people is inaccurate. There were 12 souls, not 13. I view many plane crash reports and it is rarely the plane that fails. It is mostly lack of skils and lack of the ability to know ones limits. To be proficient, you need to consistently train. Especially if you carry passengers.

Apparently the captain bought isopropyl alcohol and tried de-icing the aircraft himself before departure. (What was he thinking really 🤔) i guess there wasn't a proper departure briefing either nor a TEM.
The conversation with the ATC is also astonishing, giving warnings not to go and still he kept on going . They paid the hard price The biggest shame goes to the pilot who put the family member's life in his hand and didn't respect their safety (which should be number one when transporting people)
