is not that hard to get a job in tech industry, the problem right now and before was the ammount of corporativism and HH.RR, if you look at tiktok, youtube, facebook, instagram short videos, most are mad because HR is pretty dumb, even if you check linkedin you will find things like "probably your HR department did not hire the required talent and this has long time ago got a job in other place", so even corporate people know HR, PR and directives are just laying off people because they think AI and themselfs can afford to do that to save money and other things, if you look at the market of USA most stakeholders are playing the "economy" game, so they are not caring about if people lose a job that it did not need to be lost, they just want to get their money back and explode as much economy bubbles as they can, to "save" money, and after that they are going to hire a lot of people... again, and they are going to do that some years, i has happen in the years before this years and is going to happen in the new years, it is just a burning money cicle.

I am a back-end programmer, and the situation in Mexico is very different. Yes, there is a lot of work now, and recruiters call you constantly, but more than the language, the skills they require are ridiculous. You should be an expert in almost everything. They offer only positions as a contractor and any benefits, and the maximum they offer is only 20 dollars per hour.

This thinking that AI is going to replace jobs is a falace. Just a product of fear mongering. We did a data categorization project using chatgpt and what struggle!!! We got very inconsistent results from the start, not to mention the numerous times chatgpt went down during the batch processing. After completing the work, we had to review the work because we couldnt trust the quality. We had to fix 60% of the categorized items. In a company I worked recently, they ditched AI and reverted to algorithms as one day the Ai program would answer A for a question and then B next day for the same question. Certainly AI is far away to replace human coding. I believe it's good for research, create skeletons of code, documents but human touch is always required. It's another tool and not a robot like the media is promoting.

What I never understood from the beginning was why there were overpaid tech workers in USA, when in other countries there was similar if not more exceptional talent willing to do these jobs for very cheap. In countries like India, children are practically raised to be software engineers, they live, sleep, and spend every waking hour trying to become expert programmers, yet the jobs go to those less dedicated and for 200k+ a year. Didn't make sense.

What seems to be a mismatch is, US residents are required to drive 2hrs a day no remote, yet meetings are held with lower paid offshore software engineers who work remotely... 🤔 Seems fair I guess 🤷 or not.

Possible solutions are: 1) Become aware that they live, justify and are educated to believe that the most important thing is money and profits even at the expense of the common well-being of the people. In other words, students from universities such as Stanford, MIT, John Hopkins, George Washington, Pennsylvania, Boston, etc. During their formative years they desire and admire not only academic excellence but also achieving money and profits, and they agree so much that they pay large amounts of money for it in the hope that one day they will be able to do exactly the same thing as what they wanted. they complain. 2) Engineers from States could migrate to other countries so that way 50 K would be a better deal for them

I took a short career break and have been searching for about half a year now. Wrong time I guess, I have nearly a decade of experience and have heard back from less than 10% of the jobs I have applied to. Currently redoing my resume, building a portfolio, and helping out with some side businesses.

It might be hard to get a job as a software engineer, but on the IT operations side of the house, it is easy. IT operations jobs are those roles that focus on supporting the IT infrastructure. Some examples are: IT Help Desk, System Administrator, Network Administrator, Network Engineer, Network Architect, Cloud Administrator, Cloud Engineer, Cloud Architect. Also, cybersecurity has a lot of roles available. The software engineer space has become over saturated.

What I love about renting is the freedom it provides. The idea of being able to go anywhere, anytime, for as long as I want is the most valuable thing for me. I would buy a house only when I truly feel that THIS is the place for me. It's much more difficult to know than people think, which can leave them stuck in a place without realizing it. So many times I've thought, 'This is it', and then... surprise! I love my rent! :)

It’s tough for Gen Z to land software or hardware engineering jobs because many lack the experience-both hard and soft skills. Some tend to job-hop, appear entitled, and expect quick offers just for being young. But companies today are practical; they prefer candidates who can deliver results, learn quickly, and collaborate well in teams. That’s why many employers lean toward hiring Gen X or older workers, who bring more stability, experience, and developed soft skills. These qualities often outweigh the academic achievements listed on a resume.

Why isn't there US laws to put a cap on companies outsourcing their work. Other countries take care of their people and will have you arrested for looking like a tour guide because they think you are taking work from the locals. Tech jobs are disappearing because US companies keep plugging in Indian CEOs. Indian CEOs are well connected to tech sweatshops all over india and get kickbacks for contracting with indian tech bros. This is why companies are alway being restructure ...same old BS, fire all American works and outsource the whole dept to India

There are certain areas where automation is less likely to happen, such as application modernisation (containerization, refactoring). Also transitioning, for example companies moving from custom webshops to Shopify but wanting to keep sales tracking and analytics away from the off-the-shelf solutions. Certainly not glamourous, but can generate a steady income.

hi Even if you will need a health care job, you may go to any big Healthcare company, to work as their employee first Then, if the IT industries will get better, it should be easier for you to switch your position, from a Healthcare worker back to the company's IT department, if you will try to know their IT managers. I have been working in a health care company for 17 years, and usually, Healthcare companies are more stable then tech oriented or manufacture oriented jobs. 😅

NEVER EVERY BE LOYAL TO YOUR COMPANY! Just use your company's resources to improve your skills and social network. Learn all kinds of skills. In my past 20 years in IT career, I obtained 3 masters degrees at the cost of company's tuition reimbursement. I was laid off from my first job after only 2 years. From that moment on, I never trust any promise from any companies. Whenever I have a chance, I just use company's resource to improve my skill set and always try to be market ready. I know it's tough to get motivated all the time and keep the balance of work and life. But in the IT career, that is our fate. Somehow, "most fit survives" sounds cruel, but it is the reality. By the way, security and data sensitive jobs cannot be outsourced to another country due to geopolitical reason. Some jobs require US citizenship with certain level of clearance. If those jobs are outsourced to another country, GOOD LUCK to the safety of Uncle Sam!

Tech hiring is still significantly above covid levels when it skyrocketed. The median case is... you are not as good as you think you are in a sea of people who flocked to CS when it wasnt meant for them and they can't cut it. For the talented people trying their best to get their foot in, I empathize. But the median case is really you aren't that good. So probably step 1 is lower your standards, learn a lot on the job, and try to jump only then. What I did. (also part aside... from hiring and doing interviews post covid and AI... I'm convinced a ton of you new grads cheated and AI'd your way thru and have permanently screwed yourselves.)

to get hire as a company in house business programmer u must learn full stack web development and mobile developer + domain controllers. every company from small to mega corp requires in house business programmers. although ERP has a big impact on reduction of customization but its expensive and hard to train users. company can hire a avg pay operator doing multi-task using in house systems pioneered by in house programmers. its much easier that way and cost effective provided the company can find a good programmer.

I published a newsletter in late August 2024 for my tech friends (about half of them are fintech) mentioning some of your points: outsourcing AI revolutionizing many industries I also mentioned volatility in the market and uncertainty in the future. There's also flow from certain roles and flow towards certain roles (e.g., DevOps) The application process is also problematic: e.g., ghost jobs, companies that don't know what they're looking for, HR departments, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and sometimes the HR department has it set specifically such that it gives false negatives, etc. There are often hundreds of applications for a single role, especially remote roles, so this becomes a challenge in dealing with the volume. You can get into other adjacent niches (you mentioned healthcare, that's possible).
