    Hi Jared! Thanks for informative video. How much does this saxophone and instrument case weigh in total in kilos? Is the bassaxophone case same size as a baritone case?

    The French bore sounds more defined and mellow but was almost sounding like a saxophone. German bore sounds more like a clarinet. But the german bore also lacks the low C.

    I'd be excited to see a G piccolo clarinet as well, as it would resemble the fingerings of a recorder (low F would sound like a C) and I think it would be fun. I don't think there's any out there yet.

    Why isn't this instrument mass produced? (not this precise model with its design flaws, I mean the basset as a whole) The fact it is not wood just makes it more practical for the outside world. Who cares about the lack of repertoire if you are a creator and not just a pure interpreter? So beautiful, nicest range and tone ever, a composer's/improviser's/jazz player's dream! Just the normal evolution of a standard clarinet for me, an improved version. Some people like Alex Simu are even creating their own version.

  • @tommyblack7998

    There is a serious problem with this. Bass clarinets with the second register hole on the neck must have a neck length adjustment on the descending part of the neck. This does not have it, so if it plays sharp there is no way to lengthen the neck to lower the pitch. What were the Conn people thinking? With the models without the neck register hole, you can slide the whole neck up where it joins the upper joint. You can't do that if it has a neck register hole, because it will disengage the register mechanism coming up along the upper joint. Eric Dolphy had a bass clarinet to low D. I don't remember whether the neck had a tuning slide.

    • @Jared_De_Leon
      @Jared_De_Leon Місяць тому

      I’ve found the best way to get around this is with tuning rings between the mouthpiece and neck. My C bass clarinet also does not have a tuning slide and I have to use tuning rings, fortunately with a 2mm ring it plays well in tune.
