Well, when inventing new musical instruments or new modifications of instruments, that's not so bad. For example, someone wants to design a Bohlen-Pierce instrument, why not?
Really? I heard a huge difference it's only the low C where the response was just as similar but idk he's not an Oboist I believe he said so it's possible there's that factor that goes into tone
@@krysztof6917 Yeah it's more different now that I hear it now, but I was more referring to the type of sound. I thought it would sound like an oboey clarinet, but it sounds more like a clarinety oboe, that's the best way I can put that thought lol
Super interesting! Never thought that single reeds could be used on Oboe. Now you got yourself a conical bore, single reed... hold up that's the basic description of a SAXOPHONE! Jokes aside, I wonder how the rate at which the bore diameter expands affects the timbre of various conical instruments such as the Saxophone, Tárogató, and now single reed Oboe.
Ok I want one. I wrote a piece and I have to play oboe for a small bit. I hate playing double reeds, it’s so different from my normal saxophones clarinets and flute that it messes me up. This is the answer
@@xxxBradTxxxIt wouldn’t sound horrible if he practiced it and got used to it. Just like any instrument, it sounds like shit until you know how to play it
Scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should…
Really cool scientific experiment 😊

The tone didn't change nearly as much as I thought it would, don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing

sounds kind of like a soprano sax which I suppose it kind of is
No it doesnt
yeah it does, which makes sense because the soprano sax is a single reed instrument with a conical bore @@q12aw50
Yes, the first attack is so sax-y
Sounds pretty close to a soprano Venova.
Clariboe
Obinet
Play us some Clariboe and we'll give you some Haribo
I call it Soprano Saxboe

The tone of the single reed mouthpiece is interesting, but incredibly cursed. 😂
Playing oboe makes me feel like my head is going to explode.
That is so real, it gets better once you improve your air support and lung capacity though. Good luck fellow oboist
I love the single-reed mouthpiece sound!
The single reed projected a lot more than the double reed.
Blud finally posted again🗣️🗣️🗣️
Interesting concept. Fipple end blown flute head joint
I have one of these. I tried to use a cut down Eb clarinet reed, but it didn't work very well. Where did you get the Ab clarinet reeds?

It sounds horrible though

Can you sell this mouthpiece? 3d printed would be cool
sounds like a suona
What kind of reed does ir use?
A custom one made specifically for it.
Are ordinary Bb clarinet reeds used?
It's designed to use special reeds, here I'm using a cut down Ab reed.
@@Jared_De_Leon A cut-down Ab reed, for a piccolo Ab clarinet higher than the Eb clarinet? Almost an octave above the Bb clarinet?
so do you play it like a clarinet or oboe 😭
He probably has some skill in all woodwind instruments, a lot of pro woodwind players do. I think he plays low clarinet
what mouthpiece is that
It’s a Chedeville.
It sounds nice, but it's giving wounded duck
а диапазон получился как у гобоя или меньше?
WOAH WHAT THATS FUCKIN SICK
Is that good or bad?
oh what?
Its called clarinet
Clarinets have cylindrical bores and thus work completely differently than oboes, which have conical bores.
Better
No this is just wrong
