This is two years late but in regards to Gaara being Kazekage, I think the sand villiage operates more like a monarchy, where it’s more of a lineage thing as opposed to more of a sudo democracy like the leaf villiage. So gaara was in a sense “heir” to the hokage throne.

I think this is why we should rate things on a scale of 1-30, I'll give an example here. 1-10 is a bad show. It can be a 10, meaning it's a great bad show/manga/whatever. Like it's so bad that it's actually good. 11-20 is mid with 11 being a shitty mid tier manga but it's better than being bad. 20 being super high mid tier, like wow this is a good manga, almost in the realm of being great. 21-30 is just the greatest shit of all time, required reading, in everyone's top 10, wow 🎉🎉🎉🎉. I think, like many things, it's great for its time, but nothing stays great forever. Things change and evolve. Hunter x Hunter was great when it came out because it did something different from the usual tropes. When people comsume the same thing a lot, they become jaded and in need of something fresh and original. I remember watching Hunter x Hunter for the first time and couldn't stop. It was so good. It pulled me in so hard and so deep, before I knew it, it's been hundreds of episodes already. Then I rewatched it again and again every now and then, giving it some space in between to keep it fresh. But now I remember most of the plot points and the little details, when I watch it again, I can't help but notice flaws after flaws and how simple and bland it is. Is it still a masterpiece? I don't know. A better term would be nostalgic. It WAS good, but we have to move on to better things. If you think nothing is better than this, the future of anime is doomed. It should build upon each other and evolve, not get stuck in the shadow of the glorious past.
