Welcome to my channel!
I'm Wendy, a Singer and Busker in Toronto, Canada. I started this channel during the Covid lockdown, and have carried it on ever since.
I enjoy sharing my love of music and singing, offering ukulele versions of some great tunes...from jazz to blues, cabaret to country, pop to rock 'n' roll....and everything in between.
I struggle, like so many of us, with anxiety, nerves, self-judgements etc. I try to keep singing through it all...the good times, the bad times, and the downright ugly times. It's what I've always done, and it seems to help me through.
Life is busy, and demanding, and often overwhelming. Singing helps me to forget the chaos, and to simply enjoy.
I hope you'll enjoy! And I hope you'll keep a little song in your heart each and every day....life is so much sweeter that way!

Banana Pancakes! Ukulele cover with chords - Jack Johnson - easy to play
Banana Pancakes! Written by American folk rock singer/songwriter Jack Johnson, released in 2005 on his album, In Between Dreams.
This one is not a normal pick for me. It's such a perfect song, so beautifully played and expressed by Mr Johnson, that I felt a little shy about trying it, not quite sure what I'd bring to it. However I did try to put my own spin on it, which, in my case, always turns out to be a bit of a jazzy spin. And now that I've broken the ice with it, I think this one will be a great one to take on the busking circuit!
*This is a special dedication, for my friends Shannon (who suggested it a while back) and Maryane! I've reconnected with both of them recently, and feel very much inspired by them, as they are remarkable women, and truly beautiful people. Thank you ladies for your friendship!

I always liked this song as a kid. I don't know why a twelve-year-old boy would relate to this song, but I found it touching. I liked the emotional level you tapped into, especially in the last minute or so of the song. Maybe it is a Canadian thing? Cheers, Wendy!

This is actually the first song I learned to play on the ukulele. I got a book of Talking Heads songs from the local library and printed out a ukulele chord chart on the library public computer. The kids and I enjoyed singing "Aye Yi Yi Yi Yi" at the top of our lungs. Of course, you do the French part much better, Wendy. 😉

@@Leitros-kj4qb nope, I'm not wrong. Written by Jagger/Richards in 1970, featured on their 1971 album, Sticky Fingers. Keith's writing was definitely influenced/inspired by Gram Parsons, who he was hanging with at the time, and I'm sure he was influenced by Townes as well. But at the end of the day, it's a Jagger/Richards tune. Take care!
