Nature Boy. Written by Eden Ahbez in 1947, first recorded by Nat King Cole and released in 1948. It has since recorded by many of the greats: Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis & Charles Mingus, Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga...and so many more. Very beautiful song, too big for the ukulele, but I gave 'er a shot! I'm playing this on my brand new uke (my old one punked out on me the other day, after busking in the subways on a cold day), and it is still in the newbie stage where it has a hard time staying in key, so....I apologize if the pitch is waivering. But nevertheless, I hope you'll enjoy my uke version of this jazz standard!

My Grandma Thelma was a great person, but she did have one flaw; she didn't like this song. What's not to like, Grandma? Maybe she's listening now and can appreciate it as a fine work of art. She was an art fan. When she got a chance to see Michelangelo's David, she made a special point to study the statue from the back side, because you never got to see it from that angle in photos.
