  • Dead Flowers! A song recorded by the Rolling Stones. Written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, appearing on their 1971 album, Sticky Fingers. It features Mick Taylor performing a gorgeous guitar solo in lieu of a third verse.
I wanted to do this one in honour of Mick & the boys, who are KILLING it on their Hackney Diamonds Tour! I truly love them, and in particular, I LOVE Mick Jagger! He was and will always be my favourite performer, there's simply no one who can hold a candle to him.
This great country tune has been widely covered, by the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Jerry Lee Lewis, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams 3rd, and Ryan Adams.
Anyway...I hope you'll enjoy my ukulele version of this Stones classic!

    Key of G

VERSE 1: (same chords for all verses)

Well when you're sittin' there in your silk upholstered chair
    G D C G
Talkin' to some rich folks that you know

Well I hope you won't see me in my ragged company
    G D C G
For you know I could never be alone
    CHORUS 1:
    D G
Take me down little Suzie take me down

    VERSE 2:
Well when you're sittin' back in your rose pink Cadillac
Makin' bets on Kentucky Derby day

    (Repeat C1)
    (Guitar Solo)
CHORUS 2: (same chords as C1)
Take me down little Suzie won't you take me down
I know you think you're the queen of the underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the U.S. mail
Say it with dead flowers at my wedding
And I won't forget to put roses on your grave
    OUTRO:
    G D C G
No I won't forget to put roses on your grave

@@wendyweilermusic522Not a Stones song. It was written by Townes van Zandt, iconic Texas folk singer.

@@Leitros-kj4qb it was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards in 1970...but Townes Van Zandt did do a recording of it!

@@Leitros-kj4qb nope, I'm not wrong. Written by Jagger/Richards in 1970, featured on their 1971 album, Sticky Fingers. Keith's writing was definitely influenced/inspired by Gram Parsons, who he was hanging with at the time, and I'm sure he was influenced by Townes as well. But at the end of the day, it's a Jagger/Richards tune. Take care!
