What’s the solution to the oil burning smell that comes from a Aga stove ?
Fantastic video as always my pet hate are thermecons oil boilers or they just don’t like me lol Correct me if I’m wrong but I was under the impression we have to fit metallic tigerloops no plastic was told by Oftec good practice they expect us to follow good practice Probably just Oftec being Oftec let me know your thoughts please
Hi. Yes use a metal one mate as per oftec. The reason we used a plastic is for ease as the holes were in the same place and priority is to get the boiler going again. A metal one will be fitted and oil lines converted another day when less of a rush. Hope this helps. Have a good weekend!
My Aga caught fire 3 weeks after its service, high winds. Is this normal? My engineer said after fire valve is tripped it will still burn for 10 mins (I was in the kitchen thankfully and turn off manually as I was worried trip hadn’t worked)
Hi. Its unusual but possible. The fire valve does shut the oil off but it can take 10-15mins for the aga to turn off as the float control has to empty. Hope this helps. Have a good week. Rob
Hi guys I’m moving soon to witham Essex and I wanted you guys to service my oil boiler every year, I believe witham is to far out for you guys (gutted) but do you know anyone I can call as I’m having trouble getting someone I can trust as I know nothing about oil boilers and metal oil tanks, keep you the excellent work, many thanks Steve
Hi. Sorry but we dont . Thanks for the great comment. My advise is look for somebody that does oil only. They will be a bit sharper! Have a good week.
A fantastic family business
Thanks for a great comment as always mate , Have a good week. Rob
Thermecon + ecoflam = a match made in hell
Thanks for the comment. They can be trying sometimes!. Have a good weekend!
I agree never been a fan of ecoflames or monoflames but not as bad as the old selectos.
@@BartonOilBurnerServices Great video as always.
Excellent video, can you confirm, I thought oftec stipulate all tiger loops to be of all metal construction, no glass or plastic?
Hi. Mate. You are correct. Need to be metal. As per my tiger loop vlog when you are up against it and you just want a customer warm again and you have no time to redo pipework then plastic is a great temp solution. As you see the pipework was not great so we will return when we can and correct the pipework and replace tiger loop for metal. This time of year getting people warm is priority. Thank you for the comment as always and keep warm! Rob
@ thanks Rob for taking the time to respond & explain, much appreciated. Keep up the great work 👍
Excellent video and knowledge of your craft 👌 do the lines on the ene of the tubulars above the baffles have to be vertical or can they be horizontal when they are in? Does it make a difference? Thanks
Always vertical so the condense water drain away correctly. Hope this helps and keep warm Rob
Excellent and informative Video and I am learning so so much from “The Master” coming to a Theatre near you. Thankyou again very interesting video.
Thanks for the lovely comment. Glad we have helped. Keep Warm!
If I was getting my car serviced , I'd like someone like this guy to do it , then I would know I was getting what I'd paid for.
Thanks for the great comment. Rob
I thought test point hole was single bolt in middle of door to baffles . I inserted my analyzer and it went off the charts ???
The pre condense is the bolt in the door baffle . The flue is post condense nd more accurate. However if the meter goes mad in the bolt hole the burner is not burning correctly. Hope this helps!
Great rapport between you guys 🤘
Thanks mate. We try and have a bit of fun sometimes. Have a great week
Absolutely brilliant video. I normally do the basic things to get my boiler back up and running but this time I am a bit stumped. My boiler refuses to fire. I have bled it and know its getting fuel. It seemed to just stop working as soon as the weather dropped in temperature but not sure if that has anything to do with it suddenly not firing. I managed to get it going for one night and it worked well bit then the next morning it's dead so its like there is something intermittent. I checked the photocell and wiped it and tbh it already looked clean. The time when I got it working was while I was bleeding the fuel for air lock but now it just refuses to start. I will call an engineer but is there anything I could maybe try just to get it fired up and then I am off the week after next and can spend much more time checking all the things you showed in the video. Also I am in the uk so is there anywhere online you would recommend for ordering the parts? Thank you.
Hi. Thanks for the the comment. Does it Humm at you if it does not start or just go through a pre purg , Buss and stop? As for parts we do supply parts. If you emeail us we could help you? Rob
@BartonOilBurnerServices I already ordered a photocell, capacitor and electrodes. When I press the reset button it goes through it's cycle and then just does not fire. Sometimes it's as if it's not making the spark sound just before it would ignite. I figured I could not go wrong replacing the parts I mentioned. I would love to be able to check the fuel mix/pressure is set correctly but not sure what I need in order to do this. From my understanding if this is off even a little it can cause problems starting and running efficiently.
Hi Rob wondering if you could shed some light on an issue I’m having with a warmflow boiler with an rdb burner. The length of pipe run from the tank is about approx 25- 30 metres and tank sits about 2 metre drop behind a wall. Boiler runs great for about 20 - 30 mins then it loses oil pressure, cuts out and goes to lock out. I changed the nozzle, cleaned the oil pump filter as they’d ran out of oil and cleaned the filter at the tank thinking this would cure it but no. I blew down the pipe line with my compressor and changed tiger loop and now it’s still dropping and fluctuating oil pressure and cutting out and re igniting. The tiger loop bubbles and froths when she’s dropping the oil pressure. She’s going but not going right. Just asking is there anything else I could try. Would a burner with a danfoss oil pump be better than a Riello. Sorry about the long message but I don’t know anyone else to turn to. All the best.
Hi. If the tiger loop froths then air all day long. Check all joints and flex oil lines. If all ok i would change the pump first to be honest. Hope this helps , ps you dont need to put a diff burner on.
Thankyou so so much for your help you’ve no idea how appreciative I am of you getting back to me so promptly. That makes so much sense, you’re such a top bloke.
even the dog is yawning lol
🤣 Have good week.
Your obviously seeing things please see a doctor.
Gosh!,,,,,,That was a bit random! But hey, I enjoyed it. Ah, fellow K9 lovers, aren’t they great. In fact I love my Dog more than Olive my wife, at least the Dog is not on two bottles of Gin a day. Singing was pants, but a good Q&A👍👍👍 Interesting your take on Heat Pumps Rob & can’t wholeheartedly agree, but I hear what you’re saying. I’m a bit concerned you don’t have a proper harness for the gorgeous dog. But apart from that, a perfect video as always👍👍 Luv to everyone & I hope Rob’s mum gets well soon👍 Affectionate yours Dick Puller❤❤❤
Hi, Is there a second burner for the heating side on oil rayburns?
Hi. There is only a second burner for the heating side on Pressure jet Agas not vapourising types Hope this helps. Rob
Nope, never seen one of these before. AGAs, Stanleys, Rayburns etc. They look OK, the poor man’s AGA eh?!! Ah Ecoflam, we would use these burners as replacements in the Highlands, lots of Holiday Homes & Kero Boilers......They’re great, were always competitively priced & easy to work on. It was a lot easier to replace an old burner on a remote HH in the Highlands or Western Isles. The Owners would arrive late on a Friday & no HW or CH, generally it was just a Capacitor fault, but if they were two Ferries & a two hour drive - it’s not happening!! Thanks as always Rob & my gorgeous English Rose🥰🥰🥰. Great video team & luv to everybody. A wee unrelated point Rob, as a infamous Apothecary, with worldwide credentials in Witchcraft. The current Mrs Puller, Olive, noticed you’ve a touch of Eczema on your elbow? Now Olive, who’s on two bottles of Gin per day I may add. However, the cohesive affects of the alcohol & her 20/20 eyesight generally works wonders!! So, her advice on your condition, is cover up & take great caution when handling Kero or indeed the component parts of boilers etc. Gloves & a full size Boiler suit matey!! Also, limit your dairy consumption, this apparently can have a big detrimental effect on some people!! So, I hope that proves helpful & please tell Karen she still gives me a great rumble in the nether regions of my coollywobbles - when she appears on videos!! The one with her in the a Stationary Cupboard, OMG.......that kept me going for days!! Luv Dick Puller❤❤
Thanks as always mate! Have a great week!
I'm an aga specialist working in the cotswolds you can't beat the blade hole for the 5m depth check lol 100% 😂😂 But that burner could of been cleaner lol ❤ to the last of a breed of aga specialist out there respect to all and big shout out to the best in the business mr david hall the agaman ❤
Thanks for the comment and have a great week!
Never seen one of those! They are all Waterford Stanley in my parts. Not a fan of pressure jet range cookers! Prefer a conventional boiler with a Aga/rayburn.
Hi. Thanks for the comment. I also prefer a wick burner and boilers! Have a good week!
Never seen a Sandyford, all Stanley over my way.
Thanks for the comment. Its amazing how diff areas have diff cookers. We see very few Stanleys here! Have a good week.
G.O.A.T
Thank you for the great comment mate. Have a good week!
We have the Redfyer cooker the burners are identical, control panel is different but it looks like the same thermostats
Hi. I think they are very similar. Look at you with your posh cooker!!! Have a good week and i hope your keeping well! Rob
grips on crome loverly yum yum
Brilliant video, thorough as hell..keep it up!
Thank you for watching! -Isabelle
Thanks - saved the day!
Thanks Rob & happy birthday old son👍👍 great to see you getting into the guts of a Burner👍👍 Lots of good info as always👍......A wee question for you, well a few questions really mate: Would it not be more economic to just replace the whole burner, when you consider the amount of parts you replaced? Do you use a ‘puller’, for the Fan Blade?. They can be a right James Hunt to remove!! Do you have a Test Rig for burners in your Workshop, I had a simple Rig setup when I did lots of Oil. I loved to see your old Orange handle Draper Slotted screwdriver, it’s an old one son😂 Talking of Screwdrivers, what’s these OX ones like, are they as good as Wera? Well, I think you’re looking good for 60 mate, married life must be suiting you👍 Oh, pass on my regards to your good lady wife, I hope her Thrush has cleared up?? Lots of luv & kisses to Karen & Busy Izzy, my life here in a damp/cold Jockoland would be intolerable without you both!! And lastly, tell he terrible twins I’m still looking out for their coupons to pop up on Crime Watch! Luv you all❤❤❤ Dick Puller👍👍
We wanted to see it working 😭😭😭
Sorry i wanted to show it running but just out of time! I will do one with a bit of flame soon!
So do you do everything one handed now 😁
Sorry for delay Stuart. Just imagine if we could work one handed all the time, With 2 hands think of all the work you could do! HAve a good week.
Hi rob. It has to be said you’re a very good engineer. Anyone working along side you would learn a lot I’m sure. Interesting vlog 👍🏻
Glad you liked it and thanks for the lovely comment mate. Have a good week!
A vlog on desooting boilers would be great. Do you use any of the products on the market or just time and brushes. Also how long does it take to burn of the excess in your experience? (before you get a decent smoke number)
Hi. sorry for the delayed reply. We have a de sooting of a boiler video. Just hoover, scrapers and brushes. I normally do a smoke test to check and go back next day to stick kit in. But i would wait a good half hour plus if you did it on the same day but smoke gun first. The better you clean it the faster it burns off. Have a good week. Rob
Looked like NGK bearings to me.
Correct !! 10 out of 10 for that. Have a good week mate!
Great video again rob . Can you tell me where is the best place to get rellio burner motor bearings from
Hi Mate. Abgo Spares. They are great. Have a great week and sorry for the delay! Rob
Would like to have seen the actual fittings being done.
We have a comprehensive oil fitting video coming out shortly . Thanks for the comment. Have a good week. Rob
I note you mention the electrodes should be level with the end of the nozzle (and I've heard other UA-camrs say this) but my manual say the electrodes should be 3-4mm back from the end of the nozzle.
Depends on the burner. If you put the electrodes 3-4mm back on this burner you would bet groove marks over nozzle then the boiler would run poorly and breakdown.Have a good week. Rob
Nice job. But that bloody decking. Get rid.
Agree mate. customer insisted !
Looking to train as oil technician, my question is with new installs being stopped after 2026 and oil boilers ending 2035 is there enough work out there or is it all slowing down?? Cheers Phil
Hi. Sorry for delay. New build only no oil from 2026 and 2035 to stop fitting boilers but no ban onanything else so go for it!. Have a good week mate and thanks for the comment.
@BartonOilBurnerServices Thankyou for the reply!! Better get my training sorted then.....Great vlogs 👍
Thankyou for your support....I have now booked my course, I have to wait til end of March which seems ages away. Itching to get going and enjoying watching your vlogs 👍
Good video! Agas are indeed a specialist trade! Had one this week (total mess) the owner had a go at it! I had serviced it in the past, but over two years ago! Upon removal of the burner the bundi tube elbow fell off! It had been over tightened and stripped the thread (both the elbow and 3/8 x 1/8 reducer!) Of course the owner denied all knowledge of touching it (as usual), down to the local blacksmith to remove the seized in reducer and a new bundi tube assembly and it was good to go! Back in the day I would of said new burner base, but the shallow well burners are getting hard to come by! Best wishes from Arbroath!
Hi. Thanks for comment as always. Yes the shallow well getting harder to get. i have had to rethread a few 3/8 as they snap as you try to get them out even with heat but if you take your time they drill out! Have a good one Rob
Really interesting, I have been servicing my own Aga for 20 years. But now have an oil flow issue. I suspect that little slot you showed is clogged up. Unfortunately access to the BM valve is very difficult, but looks like it will have to be done !
Yes it will!! as well as all filters mate. Thanks for the comment. Have a good weekend!
BRILLIANT VIDEO for tech engineers
Thank you! - Isabelle
Really enjoy your content. 😊
Thanks mate and thanks for the support. Have a good weekend. Rob
@@BartonOilBurnerServices just finished my OFTEC oil fired training, really enjoyed it and starting on my own. So I find a lot of value and humour in your content. Happy birthday, enjoy your weekend too. 🙂🇨🇮🍀👍

Grant boilers are made in our town and they are a great company birr offaly ireland
Agree mate great boilers. Have a great week! Rob
Very interesting video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment and have a good week! Rob
Thanks Rob & Izzy, as always you are both looking wonderful. Clearly married life is suiting you Rob👍 As for Izzy, well as always, excellent camerawork by the English Rose. I hope you washed the Ladybird pee off your hand before eating your Chips? Maybe you don’t eat Chips, dunno?! One wee point on the expansion vessel for the Hard of Thinking, this is more relevant on boilers with smaller Flexi hoses. With the boiler drained & air pump attached, pump up the vessel. More water should come out the drain point. If not & you hear air rushing through the boiler, with some water. Then the EV is knackered. Doing the same thing with the air pump, if the air pressure just builds up & no further water drains. Then it’s likely the small Flexi hose is blocked. Blocked hose means no EV to absorb system pressure, so the Pressure will build up & the system Blow Off. Sometimes, you may get a little water out the Schroeder valve, this maybe just a little condensation, this is not indicative of a knacker bladder in the EV. The EV could still be OK👍 Luv you all❤️❤️ Kindest regards Dick Puller.
great video
Thanks for the lovely comment. Have a good week!
