    The Sapphire burner must be the future for oil boilers! I can’t understand why none of the major manufacturers haven’t started using it.

    Hi BOBS. Great video as always. Apologies if I’ve missed it but why the need for the tigerloop? And why not bring the flue out of the wall?

    • @BartonOilBurnerServices
      @BartonOilBurnerServices  4 місяці тому

      Hi Mate. Sorry in the delay getting back to you. We had to use a tiger loop as the tank was so far away plus also on a sapphire even with a air tight line we have had a few blip now and again and the tiger loop as got over this. Also recommended by sapphire to now. I could no put he flue through the wall as the wall is actually the boundary. The grass is next door. The soakaway we got permission to bury! Have a good weekend. Rob

    Hi Rob.
    Pld excuse me because my OFTEC knowledge is not great.
    Question.
    Can you run the oil line from outside through the boiler inside the covers instead of along outside the cover of the boiler as shown in the Vlog?
    Thank you 🙂

    • @BartonOilBurnerServices
      @BartonOilBurnerServices  3 місяці тому

      Hi Patrick. Yes you can run the oil line inside instead. The problem i had there was the outside ground level was a lot higher than the inside hence the oil lines are half way up the casing. Normally i come through low on the outside and clip tight to the boiler and you cannot see it. On some boilers it works well running the lines inside the boiler . On a sapphire it is a bit tighter. The only rule is the flexible oil line CANNOT be out side the boiler case. Hope this helps. Rob.

    I did a vortex fit recently that I left on existing O/Vent as the pipework I could see looked a bit............ and I really didn't trust what was under the floor.
    It was a distress swap as the old Danesmoor let go, the poor customer was in the middle of a round of Chemo/cancer treatment and I decided the last thing we needed was to upset things further with water leaks under the tiled floor due to making it sealed.
    Sometimes you have to let things go and thats a battle for another day, hopefully in happier/healthier times.

    Interesting install. Out of curiosity how do you find the maintance of balanced flues. I don't work in the industry but cruious if sooted up boilers ever result in a balance flue needing cleaning/swept. Not something I've heard of before but thought I'd ask someone in the industry. If they are swept how difficult is.

    • @BartonOilBurnerServices
      @BartonOilBurnerServices  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi Great question! Obviously balanced flues can soot up but its not common and unless the seals have gone it normally only gives a dusting of soot inside the flue and not the balanced part. If they had to be cleaned then normally just unclip the adjustable section and slip apart then away you go. Have a great weekend!

      Not sure if you've done a video on it but I'd be interested in what testers you guys prefer/like. Noticed kane (458s I'm guessing). Assuming you use/have different brands a comparison/pros and cons would be interesting. Even if just part of a wider video

    Hey Rob, we're going to do a renovation in our house in Ireland. It'll be more or less an A rated house when we're done. As its a 'renovation', we're not forced into getting a heat pump. However, this might happen in 10-20 years. So we want to build a house that is easy to switch from oil or LPG to a heat pump. We're thinking of going with underfloor heating, i believe this works fine with LPG as a gas boiler can modulate to a very low output. Standard oil boilers would require a buffer tank? Could we avoid a buffer tank with the sapphire boiler? Or is 6kwh (minimum out put of the sapphire i believe) still too high for underfloor?

    Interesting. I was looking at going for a Heat Pump as my oil tank (25 years old) needs replacing plus it is in a location no longer permitted. Anyway what do you think of Navien Oil Boilers? The survey I had done today for a new oil tank and base installs Sapphire EOGN boilers, Worcester Bosch and Navien but says these are better value. I have nearly given up on my Heat Pump idea as Heat Geek seem to be slow (survey done in February) and proposal not complete other than the cost of parts and labour have gone up by over £2000.00! They say there is a "technical issue". I thought they were supposed to be the experts :)

    • @BartonOilBurnerServices
      @BartonOilBurnerServices  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the comment. Personal opinion and hopefully no bias but i am not a massive fan of Worcester boilers. Some love them but it is not my favourite even though we do see and repair many of them. Navien boilers i have not really dealt with many times but i have had many people tell me they modulate and are the best but they are only 2 stage I.e high and low fire. Sapphire has a 15 stage full modulation and even though they are harder to set up once you know what you are doing they are the best. Also on HVO they have been proven to be better than a airsource to the environment. So for me i would go. Wallstar for wall mounted and Sapphire followed by Grant, Firebird, Worcester then Warmflow or Navian for floor mounted. Every engineer has their opinion of what they would fit so i hope this has helped! Have a good weekend and thanks for watching. Rob
