Good vid Joe. No outtakes? :-)
Great information 👍
The real struggle for me is how to get something out from the bottom of a big roll top bag. Need a torch to dive in there.
@@martlinnas haha. If you look further down , my friend. You will see I gave the way I figured this problem out.
All useful - my favourite by far though is the Cambodian "Krama": towel, head gear, loincloth, shawl, scarf, shopping bag . . . and (a very long time ago) a hammock for our baby girl!
@@jeffreycrawley1216 ohhhh *opens up google*.
I like their knives but their sheathes are quite light and cheap compared to others, especially for the price. Also no fire steel typically.
@@lettingthebearout7528 that's changing, brother. Thank you for the feedback
Good review
Your right those compass pouches give me ptsd

Cool video, I'm so glad I came across this. Perfect notches to work on when getting a new knife. I mastered quite a few of these with my Esee 6.
Great exterior loadout, brother. Also - Ida may be miles away, but that telephoto lens makes this video extra aesthetic to watch!

What's in the main pack ??
@@timothygourley5690 hey 👋. There is a playlist on the channel where I break down each component of the bags.
Nice setup! 👍🏕 / Erik Lundquist
My paranoia of losing sight of the little ones made me buy some high-vis vests for the whole family, almost weightless but a bit of space taking. Any time we are moving around the 7 year old is a bright orange reflective critter, and they make great markers to find your way back to camp or mark longer ridge lines in low visibility conditions. Great video brother!
@@Tim_Keys I do the same with my little ones ! Great minds and all that. Great advice, brother. I have been super busy this week. I saw your PM. Will drop yah a line during the week
@@inforestsandlands No worries at all man, take your time. Your advice is always appreciated but I see you have a lot going on these days. I'm just having some fun around here so I have no schedule or commitments to follow
👍👍👍 .. good post. Thanks for sharing.
@@thomasmusso1147 thanks for watching 🤜🔥🤛
I keep a similar set up not only in my pack but also on my motorcycle. A remote breakdown etc. can put you in a bad spot if you’re not ready for it. Especially since I almost always go out solo.
Some great ideas. I need to freshen mine up with some of them. FYI, your camera person was at just the right distance away.
@@dalewarner4216 thank you ! 🤜🔥🤛

Another good video you two, time to have a play around with my setup again!
@jonbray6861 I miss those days. Now, when I get a new piece of gear and have to put it in my setup, I have panic attacks 🤣
@@inforestsandlands Haha, that's because yours is a finely tuned machine, and I still have to resist bringing a blow up mattress and radio 😁
I'm always changing something in my setup. I just can't settle on a consistent plan. This inevitably leads to me forgetting where I've packed something pretty much every trip out.
@andrewplaysoutside agreed my man. I had the same problem. So I got inspired by fighter jet pilots. They only have fractions of seconds before they eject. But drilling where everything is over and over again. It allows that muscle memory. So I journalled my trips. I wrote down everything I brought to the woods Gave it a star if I didn't use it. After 3 trips. If it had 3 stars it came out of my bag. Withing a few months I could clearly see what I used and what I didn't use. Then I started a new chart. Kept track of what I had to open my bag for to take out. If I needed it every trip. I then found a pouch for it outside my bag. Stuff that was last out (like sleeping pads) went way down the bottom. It's a bit of work to journal. But after a half year of trips. Your bag will be like a jet pilots flight suit
@@inforestsandlandsvery cool thought process. Can use that in my business and other endeavors of life as well. Thanks for sharing.
@@inforestsandlands Very interesting and thoughtful approach!!!

@@inforestsandlands Thank you 🙂 It's weird since when I click on YT link directly from FB , I am logged out. My likes & comments don't get posted. But glad you saw this one 🙂
I have a helle harding which I've been very underwhelmed with. The steel is just OK considering the price, and the wood handle started to split under normal use (not batonning!). I cut away the split section and carried out an ugly fix but I can't say I'd ever buy one again.
@@TheSpoovy fair. Why didn't you send it back ? Helle would have replaced it
@@inforestsandlands It was a gift from my wife so a replacement wasn't really an option . I forgot to mention the large gaps in the wood too, gaps in the grain large enough to be unhygienic when using for hunting/fishing. I had to fill them with clear epoxy before using it.
A Nordlys with Sleipner steel, DLC-ed, and jade G10 scales; please!❤️🔥
@MrFomhor oh lordie lord ! I declare that gave me the vapours
Back to our previous conversations the Banshee and Renegade…You know I prefer the smaller versions as they fit me better. With that said, I’m excited to add the Helle Nordlys to my rotation soon 😀🌲 Thanks for another excellent video, Joe & Ida!

I Need be that new Nord variation
Actually you do not need the landlord's permission to camp on their land at all in Sweden, as long as you only stay one (or a few nights), and as long as you are outside their home-peace zone.
@@zulupox Hello 😀 Not sure if you are Swedish but it's Ida writing here now (I am Swedish) Yes, according to allemansrätten you have the right to do this but I know from experience that not all people would be happy or feel comfortable if you stay to close to their home. Speaking from personal experience I have been given out to a couple of times for pitching my tent too close to someone's property. And I've also seen angry homemade signs from land owners trying to stop people from crossing their land in certain parts. Even tho you're not doing anything wrong it can quickly turn into a very awkward experience if you just assume you can stay anywhere. So I encouraged Joe to mention this in the video 😊 I just think it's nice to check if there is a chance to do so especially if you are staying close to someone else's house and you feel a bit unsure.
Great... another Helle to add to my collection, lol. But the helle nordlys is definitely being added to the family here.
@@peterbrownnl hey my man ! Won't regret it
Can't wait for a lefty option. Though when in the woods I find I actually end up using my Leatherman more, and having my belt knife on the right balances the belt better. This of course comes into play when using a knife I only have a right sheath for. Side props to Mora for making the Garberg sheath reversible. Rarely are we southpaws considered.
@andrewplaysoutside the hand of the devil ! Haha. But I whole heartedly agree, brother
Aup joe great vid buddy really enjoyed it well reviewed also lovely looking knife . Take care buddy keep up the fantastic vids 👍

Helle make some excellent products. A bit pricy for my liking though. Nice video Joe.
Congratulations on the new gig, Joe! They make beautiful knives.
@EnduranceRoom thank you so much, brother. Congrats too on your ever growing success on UA-cam. So deserved
Cool vid and nice knives but after buying a couple of jokers knives any thing else from other knife makers is just a over priced knife, these knives that cost more than a joker nomad are knives you paying extra for the name and don't perform much better in my humble opinion
@Rust_valley_racing sure brother ,each to their own needs and bidgets. The same could be said for everything. But I don't see anyone trading down to 1998 Toyotas or buying second-hand furniture. I find it interesting that in our space , there is a large diaspora of people who love to kit shame. Kit shaning works both ways up and down the scale.
@inforestsandlands I'm not shaming anything , but you just paying for a name in most cases and I prefer old vehicles to new vehicles because they are built better and made with better quality steel compared to anything new which uses cheaper made steel in our throw away society, do a comparison on quality and which keeps its edge and ease to sharpen.. joker nomad 5 or 6.5 to the knife you are repping for the company , I can see for double the price it won't be double the quality, this is the problem these days with out door equipment you paying big money for so called high brand stuff that doesn't perform or hold up for double the cost of it to justify the extra cost of the so called high brand against a cheaper brand item .please Don't take it personal but let's keep it real with real affordable stuff that dont cost silly prices , if you want to encourage people in to the outdoors and bushcraft you already putting people off on repping a exspensive knife they think they'd need to be able to do bushcraft etc
@Rust_valley_racing great to hear you do, and I appreciate you, brother. Both the interaction and the clicks. We do have a throw-away society, and sadly, "affordable" knife brands are the worst in the space for it. Helle has been using the same 3 materials for 100 years. Sourced locally, except for laminate steels, which come from a small family run business in France. They gent who hand makes the handles for instance has been doing so for 30 years. No firing of craftsmen to be replaced with high production machines. The helle factory literally supports a small community in the small village where it is and on its 3rd generation of family owners. I say this is not in defence but as an example of different forms of value.. Like I said, people can pay the dollars on what they want. I don't judge a guy for having a titanium snow peak cup anymore than I do someone using a plastic one. I just think it is an interesting discussion. My value is placed in the people who make the knives. Mora, opinel and BPS are all cheaper than joker and do just as good. But we all judge value and where we place the dollars we personally earn, differently. It's a big interest for me, a guy who designs and tests as his full-time job, equipment for the outdoor space. If it's at all possible to find a happy medium.
Fantastic product demo my friend! I just bought an Audun, Skog and Hellefisk. All amazing. The Nordlys is on my gift list for my sons.
@@jdotte thanks my man ! The Audun is such a stunning knife. Aesthetic masterpiece

@@inforestsandlands you work with them and are shilling the products - is an ad. Honesty is the best policy.
@PeterPavlovic shilling 🤣 Cool brother, we can agree to disagree on the semantics. Appreciate the view 🤜🤛

Using dryer sheets in a water bottle is not food safe.
@paulmphoto no, they ain't for the most part. I wouldn't prepare my stake on them. But I hope when people store bottles away for long periods that they wash them before use.
@@inforestsandlands Have you ever used a water bottle for coffee and you can't get the smell out of the bottle? Dryer sheets seems like it would stink up your wayer bottle. When I store my bottle I wash and dry them well then leave cap just half a turn on to prevent funky smell.
@paulmphoto nice tip. I normally do the same, but add tissue paper or kitchen paper. I do the open lid on my camel backs and keep them in the freezer. I've seen too many people get bad tummys from them. Plus I think we are talking about different things. (My fault). I meant the colour catcher sheets you put in the washer. They are just negatively charged paper. But I learned something, so happy accident haha
