    Very nice! As a hammocking man I seldom use my tarps on the ground and I was faffing about with the plow point only last weekend, not getting it to work properly. Your suggestions will be implemented next time.

      @@inforestsandlands It improved my setup quite a bit. Got a new Fjellduk recently that I need to get used to.

    🤦‍♂️.... ask the tree for consent?...😂😂😂
    I think the forest HR department needs to have a word, my friend😂😂
    All jokes aside. Damn man. I like the way you set that up. I, like may others, set it up from the tree down. I never thought of doing it this way with the use of my prusik. It looks so much simpler and cleaner to set up. Will give this way a go next time I'm out. Thanks you two... and keep it up. Love these videos. So nice to see true bushcraft education back on UA-cam, and not videos pushing an agenda or ego. Keep it up guys.

      Hahah I just don't want to get cancelled 🤣
      Thank you so much for the kind words, brother. I had no intentions on making more videos. But great minds think a like, and I had seen such a degradation in our beloved space.
      O.F models, bushcraft cabins, and a whole litany of click bait.
      So, no use complaining. I had to dust the boots off and get after it again.
      Stay safe, my man 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼

    I like the toggles with the carved out centre for super easy attachment.
    I also like these step by step vids.
    Off I go to carve 4 toggles 😅

    I like to use a double d-ring strap and a short bungee. No knots. Constant tension. Easy take down.
    Pitch it about waist high for optimum head room when sitting under it.
    Thanks!

      Is that so that the tarp loops are cushioned and will then last longer? What length double d ring strap do you carry? What length is the bungee?
      I'm doing a little bike tour soon and thinking it might be nice to use this kind of setup.

    Does that actually keep you dry if it rains? Do you face it a certain direction according to the wind or something like that?

    • @inforestsandlands
      @inforestsandlands  4 місяці тому

      Good question! The answer to both is yes. It's hard to see on camera but it's an incredibly deep shelter. I'm 6.2 tall and can lie under it fully covered. If you want extra coverage, it's a simple matter of lowering the door.

    Hey, what's the ochre tent peg's name? In a video you talked about Coghlan's ABS pegs (which I can't find in italy) but they are yellow, maybe I can find the ochre one. Thanks

    Setup a plow point in less than 10 minutes? Even an idiot like me can set one up in less than 5.
    I always start with static point around the tree and then put tension on the back diagonal.. tying a loop around the tree with a toggle for the tarp and then stretching it back to stake it is pretty intuitive and easy.
    Oh I see you added the prussik to the tree to tension it.. o don't think it's necessary but you tightened up that main "ridge" tighter than a frogs bumhole 😂😂

    • @inforestsandlands
      @inforestsandlands  4 місяці тому +1

      Hahaha. Yes, most can do it with 5 with practice. But I tend to keep my video titles encouraging. Being a full-time outdoor teacher, I have seen what pointless timed trials do to confidence of absolute beginners.

    • @inforestsandlands

      The prussik is a game changer and if you can add it to your 5 min set up it will make shape changes faster in sketchy weather.
