yes my hand is covering the module the whole time and this video is more about putting noise through the panharmonium than it is the dxg but in case you came here for a review here you go: its two functioning stereo LPGs and I miss the damp setting on optomix a bit. *this is a reupload due to clippy weird audio on the first try*

No real plan here, I've been doing a lot of nightly practice and experimenting with just the B case so I filmed a bit of one. It's had some major sequencing, looping, mixing, and effects changes since the last patch walkthrough. One more piece needs to fall into place and then I'll likely do a longgggg patch from scratch video getting into the weeds.

I use a master filter and a master compressor…. Do you think Wyvern might be able to fill both roles? Certainly sounded like some beautiful limiting/saturation going on! Do you think you could replace librae legio with it (if you weren’t using it for high resonance fun)?
@16:30 yea, the hat is no where near a 909. Too bad they don't have much sample memory in this potion. Maybe a next upgrade that replaces the back-end chip? Nice experiment! ⚡
Hey thanks for the great video. I've been interested in the Wyvern for a moment. Ordered one after your little review. Cheers!
How do you like it? I bought a used TSNM MkII like 30 seconds before this was announced, and I've been wondering how they compare
not bad so far. I did another session with it last night, just trying to get the pads setup in a chromatic scale and figure out how I'd want to use it. So far I like the amount of control over the X out as maybe my favorite feature. customizing the envelope, touch, or just set value is super nice
OAM Uncertainty there, try flashing it with the vu-meter firmware. Then it's a vu meter with a gate out for every level. it's super interesting for feedback, triggering sounds you feed into itself
How much time do you get out of that battery? Been thinking about how to get out with my current 4u case and wondered about different solutions. Something that I can just put in the standard power sounds cool. There are also the MyVolts battery and cable I thought might work too. But that’s just 65w I think.
@@turbotambourine I haven’t done a proper test running it til dead on both cases in a long time. But I think one case had a 2+ hour run time with it? Maybe that’s an experiment that’s worthwhile this week…
@@thismeanswarbasse awesome! That’s pretty great! I’ll check my options. Love how it’s just hidden in the lid!
Seeing how each of your cases have a matrix mixer in it, definitely makes me want to pick one up. Are they difficult as diy for a beginner?
They are really easy to build but have a lot of soldering
@@turbotambourine there’s a lot of soldering but it’s all easy soldering. Through-hole resistors, input jacks, and knobs. So it took longer than the T12 but in general the steps were simpler and easier. It was just “repeat this 50 times” kind of stuff
Glad you did it, kind of meditative watching you go through the process. I have the soldering iron, now just wondering whether to get a module and go for it! Anyway, I enjoy your channel, keep it up
@@alkali6 thanks! Hmm, might be a good thing to practice the soldering game then!
@@thismeanswarbasse so good to know. Probably perfect for some alone time in the winter months.
wow, super gnarly sounds right at the end. Whats the sample? very very Dune
thanks! I grabbed a sample of my voice at 3:00:50 after I switched my voice over to be going through the case
@@thismeanswarbasse Ah sorry, I skipped to the end for the demo. I take it's being processed by the new delay and cornflakes? Keep up the great videos, I am learning so much thank you
@@grief1 no worries and you got it. Grabbed the sample on cornflakes, then audio thru the Time Machine delay and Starlab - then I was messing with the T12 controlling cornflakes

Yeah 51:30 fucking slaps🔥
if anyone has any tips on how to better place the voice-over audio into this mix lmk. I tried ducking the sound against it and it was super distracting, meanwhile theres just no headroom left in the case audio to fit the vo. any/all advice is welcome thx
Ducking is definitely the way forward.. Sounds like you need more gain on the V/O then let your ducker manage the synth level. Anyway, love the video. That surround panning thing works so well. How the heck do you do it? 😊
It sounds good, when I started doing sound for tv the golden rule was “music at test(0) and voice at +6” on a Nordic ppm scale. So on a digital scale that could be music at -18 or -20 dBfs and your voice 6 dB higher. But what you were doing is fine, but if doing ducking I think it should be subtle so it won’t be distracting. Thanks for the videos!
It sounds good like this. I wouldn’t change anything.
Just wanted to leave a final comment here. Such a tightly integrated case. I really love the functions built in, the span of playability and live creation that this offers. I feel like the module sizes too are perfect! Zero wasted space and no tiny cramped modules either. Nice placements of modules too!
you da best turbo
Wow! This setup just DESTROYS! Love it!
Woah! Well done @modularplug that Detroit Pink 87 looks incredible! Warbasse! I love the Detroit trigger module with Vice Verga. Instant playability and no fussing! Fits super well with how you like your sequences too. Well done! I bet it feels so much more freeing than the drum sequencer!
Yooo! Seeing so many new modules in the case. I’ll have to watch this in sections but stoked! Excited about that Detroit module bottom right too. I remember seeing that! Always great thoughts and workflows and great timing as I still have to figure out some more drum sequence control.
You just sold me 100 Grid!! Sounds so good!
Only a few minutes in, but this already looks super helpful. I’m using my Morphagene and matrix mixer in exactly the same way right now. I’ve got many modules you got here, so it’s gonna be super useful. Thank you! 🙏🏼
My erica joystick is also loose… its a design fault…
Completely agree with you about all the issues with Cockpit and it's why I use the Cosmix Pro now.
Listening to this as a I rebuild my drum case - love how different your approach is. It's the beauty of modular. Have the same feeling regarding Cockpit 1U - so close and yet...argh!
Looking forward to seeing what your new case ends up being made of!
God this mix is suffocating in the best way. You’ve really perfected your sound, absolutely brutal!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to explain all this wonderful mess. It's a really cleverly thought out case, focused on the UI and that's something I rarely hear people talking about. Anyways, thx, keep'em coming !

@@adroc9841 fairly basic master clock work and clock generating for Detroit Pink, Data Bender, and Morphagene. Occasionally I’ll use CV for modulation or v/oct stuff with Wyvern
Very informative. Given me lots of ideas for my own rack. Thanks!
Thanks for the insights, very interesting ✌🏼
What is your experience with the noise floor of the golden master? I've read people complaining that it is super noisy on slightly higher gain levels.
@@bastiaanvanhoorn6306 definitely is. It takes quite a bit of fiddling with the tiny volume and gain trim pots on the right to get it where you want it, but it’s still there for sure. I just make a category of music that I don’t think is impacted that much by it, given all the other noise going on
Interesting, I like the use of the mide-side.
Thanks for sharing!
06:08 🤯so cool - awesome walkthrough of your system 👌
Such an excellent run through of your revised case. As a person with one huge wall of a case I find these small focused case ideas really inspiring. Makes me want to reorganize my case for the thousandth time.
Absolutely honored to be a part of the B Case! <3 We’ll have to make that Reset LED brighter and stay on for longer in our next firmware update. Also fyi, in Clear mode you can hold down the button and then turn the knob to clear multiple channels, no need to press the button each time. Great video too, was a fun watch, you make me want to add a bunch of distortion into my setup. Ever consider flipping the Virga upside down?
@@modularplug y’all are the best. That approach for clearing makes a ton of sense. And also I might flip vice verga tonight…
Very cool to see how the case has developed. All the layers of saturation etc. Really make everything feel alive
Thanks for the awesome rundown! I use a pair of W/ modules for the same purpose you use Morphagene. They are a lot more consistent and allow you to configure which parameters get CV control. They have a lot of modes but I just set mine up and don't think about the other options. Plus they're 2HP each.
@@jonstapleton3668 haven’t even seen W/ before. Seems interesting for sure. Do you have a favorite module you’re using as a macro controller for them? Or is that not necessary?
@@thismeanswarbasse you definitely need something to send triggers to it, especially if you're trying to use them as a stereo voice. I've set them up to reset on a trigger, and I use clock dividers to get the loop length I'm looking for. Then I can manually trigger record/play to do sound-on-sound looping. I've also used modules like Pressure Points to "play" the loop/trigger/reset which is really fun. I've used Teletype and Crow to "script" the loop controls, but that's not really your thing and it's not at all necessary here as far as I can tell. They are really simple loopers, but have a lot of extensibility so I think you can probably control it in a way that works for you with the stuff already in your case (or with a module that's useful beyond this narrow purpose).
Thank you for this! Hella inspiring.
Oh hey, you did end up using the morphagene as a looper. I also went through that Odyssey with the green zone, and different ways of triggering record, lots of fiddling with the internal settings to make it work the way I needed it too. And then I just got a Hermod+, so I save my sequences.
@@JustCarlT ah yea saving the sequence could work too, I just like being able to grab it after my filters and data bender because of those extra squeals and texture but before that final fx
amazing video, thank you. you've given me some new things to think about! also shout out to OAM <3
I love these videos of yours. I had the same problem with my Erica Synths joystick. By the way, replacing that varispeed knob on the morphagene for a bigger knob really helps hitting the green spot.
@@lifeformmusic3301 Might have to try that, great idea
On the morphagene, if you truly only ever want to varispeed forward, set the vsop=2 in the options.txt. The green zone is much easier to hit. Also consider pulling the knob off so you don’t budge it. Also, rsop=1 flips the record splice combo from rec+splice to record a new splice to just rec. then it is rec+splice to overdub. I also set the pmod to 2 (trigger loop) and used an 8-bar reset signal to keep my loop synchronized because I felt it would drift. It can also be fun to varispeed and use faster divisions to trigger the fast or slow sample on the beat.
