Out of all my modular UA-camrs, I really resonated with your approach. My system started as a per case “instrument” setup. It just makes sense to me and helps me make music instead of leaving me confused about where to start.
Been really considering the Needham Matriarch case as a way to remove actual synthesis from build consideration to focus the modular aspect purely on sample manipulation, cv, effects, etc. Wanted to check in on one of my favorite eurorack musicians and I guess it isn't just me who's discovering the potential of this case lol. Enthralled by the idea of this case with XLR/TRS in for voice/acoustic instruments, sampler for background textures and percussion, and looping to overdub/layer all of that. Could be a neat way to perform things that feel more like songs without having to do tedious sequencer programming which always kills my vibe. Debating ES-9 to pipe it all out to a daw to really properly mix or just wav recorder to make it all in the box without multitrack potential.
I've been thinking about that es-9 too. I'm so "all in the case" for my other two green 7U boxes, but since this matriarch isn't mobile I can kind of think of it as a studio cabinet and interface in one. Priorities eh? also not to gloss over "one of my favorite eurorack musicians..." but I'm not sure how to respond to that besides thanks and thats a wild thing to hear/read 🙏❤️
I love sampling and sample mangling but I hate sample management. I’ve bounced off the Erica Synths Sample Drum and the BitBox Micro so quickly. I really doubt I’ll try another traditional sampler like that. I do however love sampling live things or my case itself onto beads frozen buffer, or into the Lubadh, then taking that clip and radically changing it into a ton of different elements. That’s basically the core idea behind my whole A case, microphones for sampling included too. Kind of a weird non-answer maybe but managing folders of an SD card or navigating a tiny touch screen is just not for me

I have always said that, if I ever get a Matriarch, I would pair it with the Needham case. I’d likely add my Subharmonicon and DFAM first..
