    You’re the king of videos walking us through instrument design (where ‘instrument’ means case contents plus patching intent.) Plus, I love attention to your B Case refinements.

    IDUM is the shit. It’s so modulatable that what it spits out is definitively your own.

    Love how powerful "Return" works as a compositional tool here. This case plays so nicely on the edge of chaos, and creating those homecomings is great for flexing that tension.

    Ooh this would be really interesting with some logic patched after the sequential switch. That way the patterns would change as you cycled around the sequential switch but the relationships between the voices would stay the same. Giving me a lot of ideas to explore

    this is just the sort of modulation gate control i have been researching and planning in my case. thank you for sharing your impressions and unedited learning. this is the most helpful and interesting, personal approach. understanding what questions you ask and others ask tehmselves is truly necessary in the modular journey with so many options for instrument creation.

    The Zadar expander is a must have. Being able to modulate warp and time is the jam.

    excellent idea! i also experimented with the outputs of the drum sequencer sent into a logic gate, which then the output goes into a sequential switch. the vice vergio seems to be very interesting though.

    Yes! I’m like 4 minutes in and loving where you’re going with this! I agree! Adding the ability to add modulation between sequencers to sound sources is such a powerful thing in modular. And when you think about it that way, there’s about a million different ways to patch that up and provide varying elements of control. Something that can be assigned via cv all of a sudden can be sequenced providing a high degree of control and varyability for your patch. I saw a great video demonstrating the power of using Rene 2 and Tempi to sequence changes in state to vary the clock divisions and multiplications to make some really fun drum patterns. I’m in the middle of trying to figure out this element to a degree in my case as well to get out of the set and forget step sequencing. I’m no good at remembering what patterns are on which bank or whatever so if I can create a way of having a less vs more knob without it just being straight probability or euchlidian step density, that might be awesome. Have not cracked the code yet though. I’m checking out Constellation and may check out Knights Gallop as sources and will likely jump in with switchblade to vary it up but vice virga is definitely something I had my eyes on a while back. Anyway! Keep making videos, I’m very behind on what you’ve been putting out, trying to finish another video myself haha.

      I’m terrible at pattern management too. I never do it and haven’t used the bank or multi pattern saving stuff within the drum sequencer at all. I did enjoy the less/more knobs on grids when I had it, and I’m tempted to figure out a burst generator or some kind of solution to pair with this in order to get some that back.
      I haven’t wrapped my head around constellation and haven’t taken a close look at knights gallop yet either. That four-rooks from Shakmat always seemed cool though

    • @turbotambourine
      @turbotambourine 9 місяців тому

      @@thismeanswarbasse agreed on four bricks rook! Almost picked that up too but I feel like I’d be terrible at finger drumming. Similar idea in the banks though but four bricks rook does something interesting with the lengths, since they are patterns it cuts the patterns off into slices if you have fewer than the max length then you can twist a knob or cv through the partials. Say if you had the first part of the pattern that wasn’t dense and the second half was you could switch between then at will. Dang, as I type this out it makes me want to maybe give that a go. And yes, pattern management doesn’t excite me at all. I got thinking you could put a After Later Audio flip in the 1u which could give you two channels of probabilty which could add some less and more to two channels like kick and snare.
      So far Constellation is a lot to get my head around. Amazing in many ways but haven’t had that aha moment with it yet.
      Anyhow, my mind has been on the sequencer being the thing but I think you’re onto something with it being modulation of the sequences that will get me what I want. Interested to see where this takes you. Oh, have you tried setting up an 8 step pattern or eve 4 step to cv vice verga? I know on something like the varigate you’d be able to mess around and draw out what your drum sequencer would be in term of the switching and you could adjust one at a time if needed and then you could even have one presaved sequence you could return back to. Kind of like you’re trying to use Zadar for but having the ability to not just attenuate all of the modulation signal, you could do a bit at a time.
      Anyway, love this!

    You should look into the NE Confundo Funkitus. I‘m going from wmd metron and mutable grids into the CF and can crossfade between those two different triggersources based on probability. My patch is a little more complicated than that and I have a 4/4 triggersource that I can always choose to combine with the CF kick output to make sure I’m not straying to far, but even the basic functionality makes it so playable.
    Perfect balance of generative control over triggersources.

      Haven’t heard of that one I’ll have to check it out. That reminds me a bit of the mylarmelodies approach where he had a 4/4 kick mixed with grids so he could easily return to it. smart thinkin
