Mr. Valentine
Приєднався 13 чер 2023
I have an indescribable fascination with Romantic Comedies. I am obsessed with the art of motion pictures. Embarrassing admission: I only discovered the meaning of motion pictures in 2018; isn't it sublime that films are just millions of millions of pictures put together that gives the illusion that they are moving? This true meaning of 'Movies' baked my noodle when I first discovered it. I digress though. Screenwriting is one of my favorite hobbies, outside of reading and rewatching breaking bad and game of thrones ad infinitum. Charlie Kaufman, Stanley Kubrick, Spike Lee, Noah Baumbach, Jordan Peele, Ryan Coogler are some of my cinematic influences. Peter Greenaway's 'The Draughtsman's Contract' lives in my mind rent free. Alright well I have about 140 characters left so I guess I'll keep typing for resolution's sake. I reside in Nashville and am not as perturbed by bachelorette parties as you might imagine. If you read this far, I think we just became friends. Godspeed

First Time Watching *All About Eve (1950)* Movie Reaction | Bette Davis Is A Revelation!!!
Absolutely loved your reaction. This is an amazing movie. I’m glad you enjoyed it .
Everyone who clicked the like button did it for The Greater Good.
I’ve seen this movie dozens of times since 1980 and I never noticed Chaka Kahn until now. How could I have not noticed CHAKA KAHN for God’s sake? She could tell me something good any day. I just saw her on an npr tiny desk concert from a few months ago and she still looks and sounds amazing, she’s gotta be 70 but she looked like she traveled there in a time machine.
Just so you're aware, actress Eileen Dietz filled in for Linda Blair in the scenes which were too violent or graphic for a 13-year-old girl to perform; and Mercedes McCambridge performed the voice of possessed Regan. Both were uncredited. You watched the Director's cut, which I've never really cared for. I.e. the crab crawl down the stairs is followed up by more routine medical/psychological examinations; and the flashing of the demon's face throughout the earlier parts of the movie.... yes, they're disturbing images, but really don't fit into the natural flow of the narrative overall; which was why they were cut out of the theatrical cut in the first place. I think this may very well be the first reaction of yours I've watched where you actually had to bleep yourself out! Impressive. It pushed you to the point of using language you normally don't use. ~Laughs~ This was a great reaction! I enjoyed it very much.
Love your reactions, Mr. Valentine! This movie was the first VHS my younger brother and I owned as kids, we got it as a gift from our cool auntie, it was definitely part of the development of our senses of humor lol
The verbosity is delightful. It's hard to believe that such a sensitive and wordy individual had not been marinating in Tolkien for decades at this point.
I would invite the word... "hyperbolé"... to your forefront
A hoot and three quarters, for sure.
I always say Hot Fuzz is one of the very few "perfect" films to exist. Everything is laid up and pays off in one way or another and not a single frame or line of dialogue is wasted. I love it. Also cannot wait for Scott Pilgrim, I really hope you do actually do that one!
Have you reacted to The Rage: Carrie 2 yet? A great stand alone film in its own right, not better than the first film, but definitely a staple of the late 90s.
The birds flying away scene at the end wasn't in the script cos how yould you plan or control that? But it fit so perfectly they left it in.
Manhunter and Red Ragon. Mountain Dew and Mellow Yellow. Both prequels are good, just a little different.
Corvidae getting a bum rap. 😕
one of the films hot fuzz references is The Wicker Man (1973) also well worth a watch
If you want alarming look into the "kitty" case. A woman Indian hat and was sexually assaulted and then stabbed to death in the courtyard of her very very full and popular Building Around 10PM and she proceeded to scream Someone else Someone else it already called the police and it wasn't any of their business. , The bystander effecteffect, Is the official name for that psychological phenomenon, It's not just referred to in rate prevention it's also referred to when dealing with any type of medical emergency If you're a regular person on the street and you witnessing that Response people will just think someone else is, That's why in that scenario you're always supposed to point at someone specifically and say you you call 911 you get help well you That's why in that scenario you're always supposed to point at someone specifically and say" you you call 911 you get help" while you assist the individual. And ever since George Floyd we have now seen the phenomenon continue only instead of people just standing there and watching people now film while they stand there and watch and do nothing directly. In some state you can actually get in trouble for this if they can prove later on that you were capable of calling for help in some way but you didn't and it wasn't because you were afraid from your life you can actually be charged.
Hot Fuzz, one of my favourite films. Another on an unexpected greatness level is...'In Bruges' tight script great pay offs...
A study in small town Fascists. It's actually more an American trope than British but it does the job.
OK, how about if you limit yourself to 3 horrible puns per video? Wouldn't that be nice?
@@jpiccone1 na it's a numbers game fam
I loved Rev. Cleophas's sermon! I tell you, if church was that much fun, I'd go every day!
I enjoyed your reaction and your commentary. You should listen to Charlie Kirk firsthand and since you seem to think he is a throwback to David Dukes club. I hope you keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching! I watch kirk , he is very proficient in debates. My comparison was solely a quip based off Charlie's comments about affirmative action in airplane pilots lol
32:07 the double entendre of “boning up, are we? Bonehead.” 💀
The philosopher Slavoj Zizek does some good stuff on Hitchcock films in his own movie A Perverts Guide To Cinema. Hitchcock was massively into Freud and, in The Birds, the birds attack when the mother and son face separation. In Psycho the mother's personality in her voice from Superego to Ego to ID as she's carried down three levels of stairs etc. Well, according to Slavoj.
❤❤❤ beautiful movie and you mentioned James Baldwin, a fantastic man I wish he was still alive. This place should be a better place.❤❤❤❤
This is the first time I ever watched you. I laughed the whole way through. 😂😂😂😂
This movie is so well written. I love it because it has so many moments that aren't the typical insert laugh here jokes. If you haven't seen black dynamite you need to watch it. It is one of my favorite comedies of all time. So many subtle things that are so well done and hilarious. It seems like every time i watch it i am laughing at something i had not previously noticed.
Thank you for sharing your commentary and analysis! I loved your video and so glad I stumbled upon it, you’ve earned another new subscriber. Here are notes I took of things you said and the words you used that I had to look up because either I had forgotten the definitions or I hadn’t heard them before: Compunction : remorse; a feeling of guilt or moral scruple that prevents or follows the doing of something bad. Transmogrified : shapeshifting; transform in a surprising or magical manner. Inculcated : instil (an idea, attitude, or habit) by persistent instruction. teach (someone) an attitude, idea, or habit by persistent instruction. Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche said: “The consequences of our acts grab us by the hair no matter how much we have improved in the meantime.” “Enlightenment is infuriating and it’s not without its consequences.” Equanimity : calmness and composure, especially in a difficult situation. Parable : a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, as told by Jesus in the Gospels. Narrative symmetry : refers to the balanced and mirrored structure within storytelling, where events, characters, or themes are strategically arranged to reflect one another, creating cohesion and enhancing the story's impact. Transmuted : change in form, nature, or substance. Perspicacious : having a ready insight into and understanding of things; discerning. Undulating : having a smoothly rising and falling form or outline; rise and fall. Thanks again!
That was not a homophone..reign, rain, rein, or rose and rose.... but I don't get refrigerator magnet
Magnet and Magnate are homophones
@MrValentineReacts Got ya
A story ahead of its time. Unfortunately we're now experiencing this teen wrath in so many schools.
regrettably true
Definitely recommend Rear Window. My fav Hitchcock movie.
Just discovered your channel. Loved your reaction to this movie and I subscribed. If you are fascinated with romantic comedies, Dinner in America is a good one. You'd be the first UA-camr to react to it too.
grateful for your subscribing! 'Dinner in America'? noted
Mr Valentine, Linguistic Legend, your varied vocabulary makes your videos so different to other reaction channels, I admire it and commend you for it!
your generosity is not lost on me. Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Dude! You sang "Lucy In the Sky" & I thought, wait, he hasn't seen Across the Universe! If you haven't, could you please, PLEASE react to it? The film is Beatles based, but it's a beautiful story with music. Please check it out!
Wonderful reaction! Thank you. Cant wait for the rest.
“This has convinced me to watch Point Break”.. pls also watch Romeo + Juliet 1996 with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes 🙏
Auntie Jackie's, sister's, brother's boy. A.K.A. His cousin 😀
I loved your reaction to Carrie. I thought it was a great classic movie.

You're right Edgar Wright is a great writer
🏳🌈
You need to check out a show called Spaced. Trust me!

10:30 "I love being in this movies hands... ". Such a wonderful and understated compliment to say, yet so true. It is rare these days to have that glorious feeling of trust in a film, where you start watching, and begin to relax and know you are in good hands. I stopped watching modern Western cinema (for the most part) well over a decade ago, because I began to have this feeling of always being overtly on my guard. Just waiting for the shoehorned attempts at indoctrination of ideas and/or persuasions that I personally do not align with. Edit: May I inquire what the gloriously out of focus figurine on the chair behind is? It's purposeful placement has my curiosity button pressed. :) I was genuinely surprised you didn't get the pale horse/Death reference, but only because you are so astute, so that is a compliment. Also, you quoted "Forget it Jake. It's Chinatown". 😮😍❤❤❤
Yeah this picture truly radiates competence on all artistic levels and minutes in you begin to trust it. such a joy lol. Yeah I go to the theater frequently and, with rare exceptions, leave dissatisfied. HOW MANY EXISTING IP SEQUELS/REBOOTS DO WE NEED? (i know it's banal to say but it bears repeating) That figuring is a 'Dundies' award. From the TV show (American)The Office. The show has a special place in my heart. I still don't get the pale horse reference haha let me look it up!
Happy Halloween Mr. Valentine. I love your reaction. 🤘😃👍
In the book she destroys the entire town. 😮 It’s a great book and it’s actually very, very short. Also, how did you not understand who was and wasn’t involved in the prank? Low moment…
I’m Sorry to admit but I saw this when I was 10 and I thought it was a comedy😂😂…and i showed my daughter the movie when she was 12 she started laughing too 😂😂us New Orleans folk is a different breed 😂😂
So many British legends in this movie
Just like how Shaun of the Dead mocked North London culture in a loving way, this movie is how Londoners view English village life
The cast of Hot Fuzz includes four Oscar winners (Broadbent, Colman, Blanchett, plus Peter Jackson guesting as Santa), a Golden Globe winner (Edward Woodward, the original Equalizer), and has a James Bond (Timothy Dalton) as a bonus!
A Phyllis Diller reference? Kudos to your wide grasp of pop culture history.
As perfect as this movie is, my favorite Friedkin film is Sorcerer. Go in blind, like I did, and let the brilliance slowly unfold. Favorite Roy Scheider performance as well.
Originally, Shawn of the Dead was my favorite of the 'trilogy', but on re-watch, this one became my favorite. It's amazing just how many silly, throw-away lines pay off later, while also making a compelling story and a great action movie parody. It just does everything right.
yeah it is hard to top this one. Ingenious across the board
De Palma is a national treasure.
