Took me many years of watching this movie as my comfort food before I realized that the pirate ship is named Revenge so Indigo will still be "in the revenge business". 😊
There really was a dread pirate Roberts--Bart Roberts. He only had a short reign in the Caribbean, but for a few years he was absolutely terrifying. Probably because he refused to allow rum on his ship, so his crew was sober and focused, as well as angry at not getting to booze it up. However, as an Englishman, he drank huge amounts of tea.
One of the most quotable films of the last 50 years, but also so warmhearted and hilarious. A true classic. So many great behind the scenes stories, from Andre’s struggles with his health (back pain etc), to Mandy Patinkin channeling his grief over his father’s recent death from cancer (You’ll notice when he kills Count Rugen he says “I want my father back, you son of a bitch” and he loses the Spanish accent of his character - in that moment he was pretending that Rugen represented the cancer that took his own father from him, and so lost in the moment he spoke in his own voice instead of Inigo’s) Enjoyed your reaction, Sir!
Christopher Guest, who plays the six-fingered count, is in real life a baron who would like to see the House of Lords become a democratically elected body. He is the writer-director of improv-based movies like _Best in Show._ He's married to Jaime Lee Curtis. He does not have six fingers on either hand.
Rob Reiner has many excellent films he's directed including "This is Spinal Tap", "Stand By Me", Misery" and "A Few Good Men". Carey Elwes, the actor who plays Westley, also played Robin Hood in Mel Brooks' movie "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". All are great movies and worth watching.
I think that Mr. Valentine would love Spinal Tap the most...and I think he would love all of Christopher Guest's later mockumentaries. Personally, I love Best in Show, A Mighty Wind and For Your Consideration the best...in that order...but maybe Mr. Valentine will like Waiting for Guffman the most...he may as well watch them all in order.
Recognition also for those who supply the words! William Goldman expertly adapted his own novel (which pretends to be an abridged & annotated edition of an old book, The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern -- the movie of course needed a different framework). Look up Goldman's body of work too; his many screenplays include some you probably already know & like, like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this, it's one of my comfort movies. Rob Reiner is so good with witty dialogue and adding heart to his films. When Harry Met Sally is my favorite RomCom of all time. Followed closely by Sleepless In Seattle, another Rob Reiner delight. He also directed Misery if you want to see how he handles a thriller.
When Mandy Patinkin was battling the six fingered man, he was imagining he was battling the cancer that took his father's life. Thus, the real emotion behind the line, "I want my father back, you son of a b-----."
I guess it is not too hard to understand why you would not have watched this movie before...but I am glad you did not, so that I could see your reaction. I think this movie is totally and fully the kind of thing that you will love...it is easy to see why, since opposites attract? You keep using these words...I think that they mean exactly what you think they mean...the exact opposite of Vizzini! OK...I will show myself out...don't put me on The Machine for that joke. 😜😂 Aw darn...you cut off that line! 😢 Oh...but Inigo does not have an axe to grind...I am almost positive it is a sword...he was quite specific, I thought. LOL
@Mr.Valenine Terrific reaction you got it all , the cheese, the heart, the feels, and the humor. This remains one of my favorite films of all time. Rob Reiner is one of the top 5 directors in his era so many genre's so many classics. Was a treat to see you fall in love with it
A terrific reaction. This movie has been treasured by my family since we watched it with out children when it first came out. When my lovely bride of 34 years asks me to do something, I often reply “…as you wish…”. This is a classic movie.
It's amazing how Rob Reiner can take a story that's silly, filled with cliches, and predictable... and turn it into something which is captivating and doesn't result in constant eye rolls by the audience. Between his storytelling, and the quality of the performers he works with, there's always an emotional connection with the characters and their circumstances. He's a very humanistic director.

At this time andres back was already gone special rigs had to be used to keep all of wesleys weight off him during the choke out sceen, even robin wright was too heavy for the final sceen but he is still a hypatanical land mass
Around 11:10. She only knows it's him because he calls out "as you wish". She didn't before. And the way he was acting, you can certainly believe why she wouldn't.
If you enjoy this movie, I strongly recommend listening to the audiobook "As You Wish." It is a narrative history of the making of the film and was written by Cary Elwes who does the reading of the audiobook. It includes interviews with many of the cast and crew, several of whom read their own quotes from the book.
If you want another side from Rob Reiner, I would suggest MISERY (1990). It’s a wonderful, gripping thriller with just enough humor to take the edge off the intense, claustrophobic dread.
You are just such an amazing reacter. You really got the wit and the special touches that make this such a clever and brilliant homage to Romance/Adventure/Fairytale/Fantasy genres. This was really enjoyable.
One of the best movies ever. It is also worth looking up all of the interviews and other stuff related to said movie. Everything from and about this movie is moving.
It’s been awhile since you’ve watched a movie I’m familiar with and so can comment on. One of my favorite movies of all time. It took me years to realize the Princess Buttercup was Forest Gump’s Jenny.
An absolute classic! Btw, from what I know, Andre was not in fact strong enough to carry those people up the cliff - I believe he was rather weak at this point - and they used a pulley system, I think…? Also, based on the length of previous reactions of yours, I’m assuming copyright kicked your butt a bit and I’m sorry for that, especially for how rich this film is. Anyhow, great reaction! Eloquent as always!
There is a hidden gem of a movie by Rob Reiner called The Story of Us with Bruce Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer. I highly recommend. You'd love it. And it's an all star cast.
Not one of my favorite reactors watching one of my favorite most clever childhood movies 🥰 always appreciate your astute observations and appreciation of witty writing 👍🏽
Montoya is my favorite. Mandy Patinkin is an accomplished musical theatre actor. He played French artist George Seurat. His magnum opus was full of men in top hats and women in bonnets. Check out Mandy singing Finishing the Hat. It’s about the painter’s creative process. George is constantly working and his fed up girlfriend has left him. At the beginning of the song he is working on sketches for his painting. ua-cam.com/video/4Uf-PikY4mQ/v-deo.htmlsi=SZH4LOC1NPW4i4d6
Took me many years of watching this movie as my comfort food before I realized that the pirate ship is named Revenge so Indigo will still be "in the revenge business". 😊
Ha! The revenge business will finally pay off.
I never got that!!!
Thank you. 🙏

Next ROB REINER MOVIE needs to be .....THIS IS spinal tap!!

Coubt rugen has 11 fingers he also has an amp that goes to 11
Christopher Guest is epic.
Never get involved in a land war in Asia.
The military didn't listen to this solid advice.
@@jaelynn7575 Listening and learning from history are traits that few politicians possess.
And you remember Robin Wright as Jenny in Forest Gump.
You watched the Princess Bride? Inconceivable!
Let him explain. No, there's too much. Let him sum up.
Loved this film for nearly 40 years.
. Peter Falk... Columbo is your grandpa ❤

As far as we know....
The grandpa's "As you wish" at the end... gets me every time.
Peter Falk was great in this role.

I will second all of the above!
Remember, "As you wish means, "I love you." That's why that ending 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 gets me. ♡😢♡
Rob Reiner film suggestion: STAND BY ME - if you haven't seen it yet. Very well done/written; based on a story by Stephen King; not a horror film.
Recognition also for those who supply the words! William Goldman expertly adapted his own novel (which pretends to be an abridged & annotated edition of an old book, The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern -- the movie of course needed a different framework). I hated the book, I wanted to read the princess bride, ya know? 😂 😂
You DID see when Indigo called out Vizzini's third "inconceivable" reference on the cliff top right? That's the "punchline".
I'm so glad you enjoyed this, it's one of my comfort movies. Rob Reiner is so good with witty dialogue and adding heart to his films. When Harry Met Sally is my favorite RomCom of all time. You're the only reactor that I have seen that understood it was ultimately about the bond growing between the Grandfather and his grandson.
I guess it is not too hard to understand why you would not have watched this movie before...but I am glad you did not, so that I could see your reaction. I think this movie is totally and fully the kind of thing that you will love...it is easy to see why, since opposites attract?

Rob Reiner classics - Stand By Me, This is Spinal Tap, and A Few Good Men. All very different!
And my favorite rom-com, When Harry Met Sally! 🙌
Heyyy ... long time, no see! Happy to be watching this wonderful classic comedy with you, and leaving a comment to help you with the algo-rhythm! 😉🤩
Another reason the dialog is so good is that the author of the original book also wrote the screenplay.
"I demand narrative justice!" lol
Stealing that.
A terrific reaction. This movie has been treasured by my family since we watched it with out children when it first came out. When my lovely bride of 34 years asks me to do something, I often reply “…as you wish…”.
This is a classic movie.I think you would enjoy “A Few Good Men”.
Other than the flips the epic duel is all mandy and carry
I'll be that person who says it: the book is even better! And I LOVE the movie.
Yeah, next Rob Reiner movie you watch has gotta be This Is Spinal Tap. You seem like the type of guy to appreciate a mockumentary.
At this time andres back was already gone special rigs had to be used to keep all of wesleys weight off him during the choke out sceen, even robin wright was too heavy for the final sceen but he is still a hypatanical land mass

I saw it at a preview showing and they gave the audience the lovely theme song by Mark Knopfler on a 45 record.
When Harry Met Sally is another classic. Rumor has it and First wwives club are also some good movies with him involved
One of the best movies ever. It is also worth looking up all of the interviews and other stuff related to said movie. Everything from and about this movie is moving.
“I don’t think that word means what you think it means” me to myself when I try to use any words over a 5th grade level
It’s been awhile since you’ve watched a movie I’m familiar with and so can comment on.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
It took me years to realize the Princess Buttercup was Forest Gump’s Jenny.
My favorite movie of all time!!
When the movie was made Andre's back was so bad that they had to use a stunt double for the fight with Wesley when he was on his back.
Pretty sure john mullaney was talking about that exact quick sand

I dig your calm demeanor, and I enjoy your vocabulary! Big love and respect to you and yours, cheers

THE SURE THING is a fantastic comedy, and underrated. Very recommended. THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT is also good

This is Spinal Tap!!
"Splash" would be a Reiner movie I'd recommend.
Really enjoyed your reaction and thoughts!
If you haven’t seen A Few Good Men from Rob Reiner, written by Aaron Sorkin. Just go ahead and do. It’s unmissable, honestly.
Nice professor of logic edit.
You have never seen "The Princess Bride"? INCONCEIVABLE!
A fun enjoyable movie. Seen it many many times. Thx for your reaction. 🙂
Such a sweet movie! Thanks for sharing it.
I knew you’d enjoy this one!
👋
Not you with the _Days of Our Lives_ paraphrase.
Stay away from Rob Reiner's movie North.
