The only reason all of that happened is because Joy was refusing to let Sadness express herself. Textbook toxic positivity. We MUST process our sadness so we can move on and be happy again. Joy wasn't allowing Riley to do that. Mom didn't help either. Like you said, that was a lot of pressure to put on her about "staying happy" for her father. She didn't feel like she was allowed to be sad and thus Sadness was having her breakdown. Happy memories are touched by sadness all the time when that chapter of our lives closes. They become sad because we don't have that anymore and we miss it. We can't keep trying to gaslight ourselves into being happy. We have to work through the pain to find the joy again.
I watched this movie. I was so blown away, I immediately watched it a second time. So much damage can occur when emotions are invalidated, and/or repressed. This movie illustrates that risk beautifully. I truly believe this should be mandatory viewing for every human on the planet...
plus, intrusive thoughts inflict harm on oneself or another person to an extreme degree(ie crashing a car) or are a thought of something immoral and/or generally illegal(ie murder). not to be confused with impulsive thoughts, which are quick thoughts that are harmless and do not cause major damage to a person or relationship(ie throwing an egg on the ceiling).
Yes, laugh suddenly and very hard while drinking milk -it will come out your nose. I did that a few times as a kid, probably early 60’s. Still in the old memory core. Yes, great film, knew you would like it. Thanks Mr. Valentine.
I was working when I got this notification and was genuinely excited to finally watch now. I knew you’d love this. Especially the 2D/deconstructionism sequence.
I was introduced to this movie via my 8-year-old twin granddaughters, who absolutely love it ... and so do I! In fact, we went to see the sequel just this week at the cinema, and thankfully it's not a disappointment. I wonder if you've ever seen the 1970 animated film "The Phantom Tollbooth"? I don't think it's reaction-worthy, but I think you would enjoy it as it has a similar approach to what goes on in the mind! 😊 Thanks for another superb reaction, Mr V 😍
This movie is actually fantastic. At the time when I first watched it. I was at point in my life where I was absolutely feeling absolutely nothing and even though I was absolutely feeling absolutely nothing, I still cried profusely when Riley returned home to her parents after realizing the sin she was committing, and she finally returned home to her parents and embraced her dark side and embrace that we all have a dark side, and the dark side can possibly be healed by sadness and forgiveness and by an apology to a person you hurt. Because she hurt her parents running away and her parents really really hurt her in that situation, quite unknowingly, but in this situation, both of them need to apologize to each other. She needs to apologize to her parents and they need to apologize to her.
Absolutely loved your reaction to this movie. It’s such a profound way of thinking about our emotions. A small handful of the movies that I’ve loved: Bicentennial Man The Bucket List Secondhand Lions Seabiscuit The Help Hidden Figures should be a must watch for history purposes.
@@MrValentineReacts For whatever reason, it dropped into obscurity over the years. It released on Christmas Day around the same time as films like Charlie Wilson’s War, National Treasure 2, Sweeney Todd, and I Am Legend, which were all huge hits. I think it just got buried in the morass of blockbusters.
My favorite part is when sadness at the end is like I love that island and it was something but like vampire romance or something like that but my part that I love but I also hate is when Bing Bong disappears❤
Donke. I LOVE this movie. The shrinks that got together and made this, chef's kiss. I loved this reaction...All your reactions. Much love, homie. Whoop whoop!
I think you mentioned that it’s on your list, but you will definitely love Coco. It became when of my favorite movies in my mid 20s, even though it’s a kids movie.
Mr. Valentine rarely gets to comment on a movie that's as intelligent as he is, but here's one. The resulting analysis is, to use his word, "magnificent."
I strongly recommend watching Zootopia (or Zootropolis), Cars, Rio and Up if you haven't (pls start with Zootopia). You will love the themes of those movies.
The thing that gets stuck in my head is “I have a structured 👩🏽⚖️📃 and I need things now! 📱 JG Wworth 8** things Now!” 🎶🤦🏽♀️ it’s the worst! Clever marketing though! I had to change it because of YT.
Just watched ESPN's 30 for 30 "False Positive" that aired today and did an impromptu fist pump when sprinter Butch Reynolds cited the writing of Frederick Douglass as an inspiration that kept him fighting. Rare to have his name brought up before anyone, if at all. But more important than the writing of Frederick Douglass, where's your Always Sunny reactions? ha
My favorite part is when Joy realizes just how important sadness is to the equation of feelings.

it has such emotional and cognitive value. A true 'for all ages' cinematic installment.
You’re insanely well spoken and emotionally intelligent. This is the first videos of yours I’ve watched and absolutely love your commentary
I appreciate the time you took to watch this with me ❤
feeling sad over something that you loved being gone is not an intrusive thought. intrusive thoughts are thoughts, emotions are emotions. :-)

Thx for your reaction. Always enjoy your thoughtful commentary. Looking forward to watching your channel grow.
One of my core memories is watching Mr. Valentine watch Lord of the Rings
😅 ❤

I know this movie backwards and forwards, like the back of my hand, some would say.......(dramatic music) INSIDE OUT! 😎 YEEAAAOOOOW!

This movie is a psychological masterclass! thank you for watching :)

This film has amazing rewatch value. It's almost inconceivable how they concocted such a profound narrative and executed it to a T!
I'm glad you dove into this film. it's wonderful

grateful for your recommending those and watching this! Scratching my head, wondering why I didn't know the Freeman/Nicholson movie existed 🫨

RIP bing-bong (immaculate decision to cast Richard Kind) gone but not forgotten.
Great voice casting all around but LEWIS BLACK as ANGER is FUCKING LEGENDARY!!!

much obliged brother! I've seen this multiple times since and benefit from each ensuing view.
you are the first reactor to get the chinatown gag, kudos
I wanted stars on my ceiling so bad when I was little but I had that popcorn ceiling 😂
😂 haha naturally. The popcorn is different kind of constellation to be sure
I also had popcorn, my solution was to use glow in the dark paint.
I think you mentioned that it’s on your list, but you will definitely love Coco. It became when of my favorite movies in my mid 20s, even though it’s a kids movie.
Coco coming soon!
Toy story was the best disney movie imo but Inside felt like passing the torch with very real emotions and story telling. Also loved Zootopia.
youre hot, funny, sensitive, AND insightful?! PERFECT PACKAGE.

I did ok in this movie until the Bing Bong scene. I was completely wrecked.
Have you seen _Rango?_
It's a real underrated gem! So few reactions out there because people just don't know about it.
It was a great video

The sequel comes out today ! And I’m. Going to see it tonight 💃🏾💃🏾🥳
I don't think I can hold out to react to it; I might have to venture into the theater soon lol. How would you rate it; on a scale from 0 to bing bong
I have a lot of commercial jingles that if I see the hook, I'll know where it's from.
The sequel is out now, I can't believe nobody said anything in the comments.
