Raised Bed Garden UPDATE
Garden update SUMMER 2023!!!!
Found this gem in the edits and decided to post for fun! No frills. Just us girlies having fun in the garden:)
The beds are filled with dirt and planted!
I used the app PLANTER to plan my garden this year using the square foot method and it was so easy!
I sourced most of my plants from friends, neighbors, and coworkers, but I did purchase seeds from freeheirloomseeds.org. It is a nonprofit organization that promotes heirlooms seeds. They also give away free seeds! Check out their website for more info.
I had my little helper today. She's a hoot and loves helping in the garden!

My BFF Sarah and I are on the hunt for big yellow morel mushrooms. Our day starts off slow, but then we hit the JACKPOT. This video was shot at the very end of April in Southern Indiana. TIPS: 1. Get off the path! If you want to find the big golden beauties, you have got to put in the work. Wear some thick pants and good shoes and start bushwacking in the rugged terrain. There are plenty of GPS...
Raised Garden Beds On A Budget PART 3
Переглядів 3 тис.Рік тому
Putting on the finishing touches! We've got the beds all lined up and ready for action. I'll show you the sealant we put on the inside of the beds to increase their longevity, and I finally get to filling those 2 foot tall beds. We went with the classic lasagna method of layering materials. Almost there! @CaptainKleeman #raisedbedgardening #wildroots #homestead
Raised Garden Beds On A Budget PART 2
Переглядів 2,8 тис.Рік тому
In our previous video we showed how we created "kits" from low grade cypress wood we got from the local mill. After doing the math it came out to approximately $40 for a 4x8 feet bed. Sounds like a deal to me! We spend the day assembling our beds and setting them up in the new garden area. @CaptainKleeman #raisedbedgardening #wildroots #homestead
Starting Raised Garden Beds On A Budget
Переглядів 2,5 тис.Рік тому
Happy Valentines Day! @CaptainKleeman and I are spending some quality time together building the raised garden bed of my dreams. We purchased some cypress from our local mill and are cutting them down to size to make 4x8x2 feet beds. We ended up spending .36 a square board so we will see if we can make it for under $50 a bed! Step one is complete. Next video we will discuss how much we spend an...

Join us as we try our hand at making maple syrup for the very first time! We found a cheap and easy way to boil down maple sap that we sourced from our own back yard. We finally went there last April. One of the prettiest places we have hiked....loved it. Our dog struggled on a few trails. Especially one with a metal grate stairway. His poor paws. The campground was nice...but our site needed to be raked of leaves...the ticks were bad.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Great to see an update on how the raised bed garden’s worked out. Was hopeful I might find a video from the Captain today but lucked out with a video from the Admiral. Looks like you might be giving DP some competition as far as aging fine videos and not releasing them ahead of time. Wishing you and your family the best.

Thanks for the update. Looks like you are taking a page from Dirt Perfect. lol Actually, I was just wondering how the garden turned out. A huge success, I would say. The best part is the excitement in your baby's voice. I want to expand my garden but finding the right wood is not easy. The Cyprus is perfect. It would be nice to find a source close to us here in Floyd County. Happy Easter to you and your family.

Local to the area. Here's a few tips... #1 locals are increasingly dreadful of tourists, especially those driving 35mph down 664. Just remember not everyone are sightseers, your lollygagging is making a local late. #2 don't bother with airbnbs, this is a money grab by non-locals that are pushing locals out of town. #3 DO NOT expect early check ins at hotels, cabins, etc especially in summer months or October. And please, don't even mention having a wedding to go to. Literally no one cares 🙄 #4. Yes, lodging is EXPENSIVE EVERYWHERE in this area. Don't verbally abuse staff anywhere. The park is free, and the area is a hot commodity. Business owners KNOW the secret is out and YOU will pay for it. #5. Respect the trails. Karen Raymore, head of the tourism committee almost single handedly put the area on the map to line her own pockets. She's a non local that did it for the money. (Logan was largely a ghost town pre 2015).

The little cabins with the fireplaces are warming points for scheduled Winter hikes for Boy/Girl/Cub scouts. It's funny how you said not to bring your kids to Cantwell Cliffs. I remember my daughter complaining on the way up from the gorge. We had already done 3 other hikes. Old Man's Cave, Conkle's Hollow and Ash Cave. She was only 6 and she was certain her legs were going to fall off😂.

It makes me feel good to see non Ohioans enjoy the Hocking Hills. It's been a staple in my life all of my life. It would take days to experience everything the Hocking Hills have to offer. I've hiked every trail dozens of times at least. Stayed in many cabins as well. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
