Mario Wonder's Online is GENIUS

Super Mario Bros Wonder has been an absolute treat to play, but one specific function of the game feels like Nintendo did really their homework. And it's so, so good. Although Unpacking may seem like a cutesy, customizable game, it's not entirely why the game is so good. There is a smaller reason as to why this game is so beloved. Welcome to Unpacking. Thank you to Evan The Cat and ZS for your support! Animal Crossing is a very interesting franchise. And although the original Gamecube game was very successful, many fans of the series have never played it, including me. Until now! Rather than fondly looking back at a game from my childhood, I am instead discovering the glorious world of Animal Crossing Gamecube for the first time. And to my surprise, it has made me a little upset at the most r...

WEIRD AL MII SPOTTED
It’s like Nintendo forgot that villagers were meant to be more than cute little animals who hang around your town. In new horizons they’re basically set pieces, they have zero depth and aren’t worth interacting with. It’s a bit sad, because it seems they have kind of lost the original vision of the game.
i love how we all collectively have pretty much the same issues with the game. this makes me hopeful nintendo will listen to all of these complains and make the next game awesome.

This game put Harriet out of a job since you can change your hair yourself now
New leaf is my childhood, i definitely prefer it over new horizons and i got a 3ds for my 15th birthday just so i could live out my childhood of playing new leaf again 😅
I’ve never seen wordchain before. It must not be in the U.S game
ACNH was fun for me for a while. Just taking in the aesthetics and chilling. After a while things just start to shine through though. Like how there's such an emphasis on decorating, but the brunt of the recipes/items you unlock or seasonal or holiday related and they'll never be used again after that. And the crafting. It's clear they got too ambitious with that. I've always said ACNH felt like Nintendo was aware of the concept of crafting/building games, but had never actually seen one, and just created the first thing that came to their minds. The abysmal QOL of crafting and building really took me out of the game.
Tbh I don't see how Villagers needing permission to move out is a problem tbh I like the fact that your villagers refuse to move out without your direct permission, getting one of your favorites isn't easy at all It can be szraight up hell and you could spend ages finding your dreamy like I did for Dobie The thought of them just moving out when you don't log in everyday and make sure they're not planning to leave gave me so much anxiety as a kid I played hundreds of hours of Animal Crossing New leaf and deeply loved the game But I was also deathly afraid to lose my favorites Bruce, Ankha and Lucky I haven't opened the game in 10 years because I wonder if they're gonna have left when I reopen the game
What's the music at 2:05 called
Resseti i think his name is i can’t remember, hes from new leaf
Personally I don't think any of the famous casting was necessary (nor good).. had to watch the movie in a different language because of how off putting it all was. And I had a much better time! There are too many talented voice actors that couls have a job! Famous people hoarding positions because people have made fame a necessary market approach .. is sad. Specially when Mario should be enough to have people watch want to go watch it.
Here's an idea. Make it so that the game has a working economy! One where you could become a millionaire or live as a hobo. Make it so that you can become a villain, annoying your neighbors enough for them to want to leave this place, so you can buy all the land. Make it so it is possible for everyone to hate your guts, for NPCs to make YOU want to leave.. to fight back at your acquisition-bullying and use a negotiation system (sometimes stuff and actions are more important than money). And that's just one side of the system (those wanting to be controlling jerks)! You could be nice and try to please everyone (equally or even harder). NPCs could take sides, they could fight for the role of Mayor and have "bad" ideas that affect everyone, even you! Make it so NPCs import and export stuff, take resources you might want (a super rare fossil). Cannot collect everything unless you truly understand the systems and the people in it.. So putting time and effort into diving deep IS the game, depending on what YOU want to achieve! You could be a night thief, or a boring civilian just watching stuff happen, maybe even a m*rderer!! Maybe not on a Nintendo console.. A real life simulator with cute animals. I would love to play that.
What?
"But it's not a good Animal Crossing game." Sounds familiar... Doom 3 much?
One thing about the villagers that might ve been an improvement would be to have them have both personality and type traits. Make the cats a little hissy, even when they're usually kind or lazy. Make hamsters talk a lot at night and sleepy throughout the day, and dogs very loyal from the get go. That way even if you had two lazy characters, they'd have different sub types and dialogues
New horizons was a decoration game, new leaf was a management game with decoratiom aspects, villagers would get mad, leave if you didnt care for them, villagers would be indifferent to you until you took the time to become their friends, town would go to shit without you... in new horizons all of that is gone. Villagers are just decorations themselves
New horizons has so much customization, yet so basic and hollow, villagers are all just nice, had no essence, there is no progression on the city, you just buils it, in new leaf i felt tge villagers needed me, in horizons i just feel like i am there to put decorations and talk to them...
Apparently they used a Zelda game that was never made as the world.
The game never felt.... comfortable to me. It was great at first, especially being deprived from a new Animal Crossing for so long, but it soon got stale. The villagers have been so washed down to repeating lines and minimal personality, I had more fun taking photos of them in their natural random activities than talking with them. But on top of it, you were given so much responsibility, so much power. I don't want to be a god to shape the terrain and move my villagers around, I want to coincide with my neighbours, earn their friendship, and explore the land around me via fishing and bug catching. I am no good with decorating, and I felt so much pressure to make my town look pretty when my friends came over. I just wanted to put some stuff down I like, even if it's messy, makes no sense, clash in colour. I like my random ball collection next to city hall, collecting all the colours I can find. Why do I have to feel like I'm inferior in my own home, when I should be comfortable. Part of it stems from the crazy fandom attitude that arrived in 2020 (pandemic really stewed some thoughts there), but it was nice where the most I'd do is community projects as mayor, and even that was a lot sometimes haha On top of this too, it lost all the charm playing with friends. Your friends came over and wanders around your town like a museum. Sure they'd do it in New Leaf too, but in New Leaf, you could play mini games on the island too. It felt like you were super limited on what you could do together when visiting. Sure you could fish and catch bugs, but that gets stale after a while. The friendly competition of the mini games made it so much more fun
I wish the game has just made it so you had to become friends with the villagers if you wanted to move their home. Like... you can get your friendship rated with a psychic and for what? There are lots of things i wish there were in the game, but it would be nice if they had just made slight challenges to continue play. Also, why did i memorize so many coffee orders and then when we get the cafe i dont need to know it...? I miss that fun minigame like task
Dude I never finished the game because I deleted so many islands to get both diy’s for the ironwood kitchenette. I feel you’re pain and I am grateful to share that burden with you. God is amazing ❤
Liberalism ruined everything including animal crossing
Like so many games, it failed by Ninento
Man, I am so late to this video but it was just recommended to me today. I always knew I felt something off with ACNH. I had never played an Animal Crossing game before diving into it and I actually loved the game for a very very long time. I was also really late to the release, but I remember hearing about the DLC that was coming out and getting extremely excited. I remember the big thing I wanted to complete in my town was the museum. I'm a huge animal person and thought it was so cool you could catch all of these animals for the museum. Once that was finished I just ran out of things to do. I did villager hunting but even that is tedious. I tried decorating my island but hadn't been a serious enough player to collect furniture DIYs. It quickly became a game where I needed to grind. I was still looking forward to the DLC, though. I got the DLC on release date and... I hated it. It was extremely boring and tedious and that's coming from someone who loves decorating. Limiting the furniture you could decorate with felt incredibly stupid and it got even worse as time went on because it meant you were stuck using the same items until you unlocked them. You mentioned a "yes man" in your video and I think that's partially why I hated it. There was no satisfaction creating a good home because they always liked it. I remember once making a bare bones house because I didn't want to spend the energy to finish it and I got the same response as before. It really bummed me out. I had heard that people restarted their islands to get a fresh start on the game but even that was boring. You have to go through the same tutorial, the same basic tasks just to get to the part that's actually fun. Then there's several hours doing the fun stuff just to go right back to where I was before, grinding. It felt like it was punishing for both casual and serious gamers. I also want to mention something I don't see people talking about enough. I want a cute and cozy island with cute and cozy villagers. I don't want a frog with makeup or a bear with a five-o-clock shadow. I actually did research on what villagers I liked when I was doing villager hunting and there were actually so few. I think there's a few decent ones but a majority of them are ugly. I don't even mean the semi-ugly ones, I mean they're just straight up ugly. They have weird hair, or weird eyes, or weird colors. Not to mention, that's a huge part of the game as soon as you start your island. You get two villagers forced upon you. I would say that not even half of the sisterly villagers are nice having on your island. Not to mention, you're stuck with them for a long time before you can get rid of them.
The lack of personality from villagers is what has made it hard to go back to ACNH. I used to play these games often and over the year but after year 1 of ACNH and the DLC, I've had very little desire to return. None of the villagers have much of a personality and once you have KK slider done, there's not much else to look forward to
New leaf was somehow peak AC
If you get mad at a white person with a “black hairstyle”, you are racist.
I had Raymond on my island, he was a pretty cool cat. I never thought about selling him or anything to other people, that’s weird. I haven’t played the game in 3 years either so he’s probably long gone now
they need to add way more personalities and the villagers should give the players something more to do. I think having a friendship meter or something to show how good friends you are with somebody, each level having different dialogue for each personality. A villager starts off not really knowing you, so maybe theyd mainly ask some questions about you and talk about things they like. Imagine you get to such a high friendship level that you can ask a villager to move in with you. Maybe people wouldnt love this but it would be cute if you could date a villager and have a wholesome marriage ceremony. You should be able to have enemies, be mean to your villagers and they can be mean back. Some villagers should just be a bitch. Anyways yeah, I just want the villagers to have more complexity that's it.
it just lacks soul, which is something most nintendo switch games suffer from. it makes me really sad. now that we have so many new possibilities, such nice graphics, i can't even appreciate it.
All i hear is Stardew Valley is better, so I'm just gonna stick to that
sun haven is just as good. maybe better.
Twitter is more profitable than ever though.
Took 38 mins to get to the point who do UA-camrs do this???
I LOVED this❤❤ it makes me remember playing Horizons with my brother and sister. I'l forever. Miss those times and leave the island the way it was❤❤
I have been trying for over like 2 YEARS to get kkalider on my island, but no matter what i do, i can't get my island rating above a 3.
I just wish they just added more dialogue, the game became extremely stale after basically reading all of it over and over
I love Animal Crossing : New Horizon i hope they bring out a new game soon but not on another console i dont want to buy a new console after every new game i think thats kinda unnesesarry. ( sorry for my bad language its my 2nd language )
I recently started playing Wild World after being obsessed with NH as my first Animal Crossing game, and it is insane how different the villagers are. Like I had heard people talking about how lifeless they are in NH, but now I fully understand why people just treat them like pretty collectables in NH, because that is actually all they are. I'm hoping to get some of my favourite villagers from NH in my WW town so I can see what their personalities are *actually* like lol
What an amazing video! Over the years I had so many moments of 'ugh, I wish this was designed differently/ more conveniently'. Watching this, I had more moments like these, remembering how you actuallly used to upgrade shops and how you could really work towards improving your town and making it feel more alive. ACNH is beautiful, but they really missed the opportunity to make the community happy. I'd argue that it's easier than ever to get player feedback and to implement it in the game, and yet, the changes we want and need aren't ever going to happen. Real shame
I disliked the fact that i constantly had to craft my axes and spades. If i have enough resources to constantly craft spades for a lifetime, then just give me a spade that lasts a lifetime
This may be dumb, but the reason I don’t like it is because there’s way too many customization options. It overwhelms me. I much prefer the original or even up to cityfolk.
Thanks for making such an awesome video :D
really hope nintendo can try to go back to animal crossing's roots once its time for a new game. Everyone assumes and wants them to go bigger and better with more and more features but yeah, i dont know. Maybe the next game should focus on dialogue much more heavily and have more story elements?
