Mixing Mastering Online features overviews on studio equipment, artists, engineers and producers. This can include looking at the history and function of classic studio gear like the Neve 1073 or Neumann U87, through to uncovering the recording techniques used by artists such as The Beatles, Beck , Stevie Wonder etc. I also take a close look at mixing engineers who have inspired me and changed the face of popular music.

Very impressive 👏

The Best Rock Album
Sage of Quay/ Mike Williams has performed an extensive analysis about teh making of Rubber Souls jumping at the conclusion that the official narrative put forward an impossible and fake story. Simply put there was not enough time starting in October 1965 in order to write, arrange, reharse, record 16 new songs followed by the additional time required for the industrial processing (vinil pressing, sleeve and label printing etc.) in order to ensure that the album was out right before Christmas. Mike Williams believes this is a smoking gun indicating that the Beatles did not write all their music and a powerful organization was behind them
The only tiny little thing I have to point out is your pic of EMI Tony Clarke is of Tony Clarke who was a producer for Deram and later Moody Blues, otherwise this is mindblowing!
Thank you!
RIP Bon 🙏 AC/DC 1978 Adelaide Australia 🇦🇺
That album was mixed badly, you can blow your speakers easy
At 4:35: Levin on Stick? Peter Gabriel's back to us?
Awesome!
Cheers Jenson!
anyone know the city in the photo at the 4:10 mark?
The photo label was Las Vegas.
@@mixingmasteringonline thank you
George is pictured with the wrong Rick 360. He used his second one (with rounded edges). Also, I don’t think there is any Hofner bass on the album
excellent work! interesting that on Think For Yourself, paul also recorded a "normal" non-fuzz bass line on the opposite side of the mix, perhaps realizing the fuzz bass line wasn't enough to carry the bottom, which was crucial in those days of mediocre, mostly mid-fidelity audio systems. chris squire of yes, who had an notoriously punchy, middish sound, used the Rickenbacker effectively, with and without fuzz. but i think paul preferred the more bottomy hofner for bass, which had punch and boom.
Thank you! You’re right, it would have sounded too light without a second bass track to fill in the list low end.
One of my Top 3 Paul's album. I never get tired of RAM. From Too Many People to Back Seat of my Car. Better than Lennon Overrated Imagine album
I wish there was of video of their recording the album. Too bad no one thought to have a video recorder.
Me too! I suppose quite often people aren’t aware they’re creating history.
One Is !
Owen Morris is a mad genius
picture of lennon with dylan is faked.
Has anyone ever heard any genuine demos from BIB? There has to be ones somewhere
Not that I know of..
I think this is the best Beatles album. I like it better than Revolver and much better than Sergeant Pepper's.
John Bonham's a kid
Love it
Thank you!
Great content
Thank you!
We need a led zeppelin 3 video on this
Good idea!
Great job documenting my favorite Beatles album! I know it can be difficult to choose what to talk about as there is such a wealth of information available on the recording of the Beatles, but you did a really good job getting all of the most important information in. I eagerly anticipate Revolver and Sgt. Peppers as those are my favorites from a production perspective although I know it will be even more difficult to get all the necessary information included.
Thank you! I plan to do Sgt Pepper, definitely lots to get into there. Revolver was one of the first ones I did, here it is, ua-cam.com/video/cqc71mY0kw4/v-deo.htmlsi=DHyPyx68WXBKTdmv
@@mixingmasteringonline Oh, of course how could I forget I've seen that! It must have been before I read George Martin and Geoff Emerick's books, so it didn't stick. Great job as always.
Cheers!
How on earth did you get those "Supersonic" stems?!
Can you do this type of video for the illusion albums Thanks
Definitely!
I’ll get working on it!
Love your work sir.
Thank you!
Extremely interesting, this is the greatest album ever recorded in my opinion. I was always intrigued by it, thank you for sharing it...
Thank you!
The sheer sense of entitlement youd have to have to steal an amp from the rental company, then get mad at your roadie when the victim finds out about your crime.
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) was the first track Paul used the Rickenbacker on. (source: The Beatles Recording Reference Manual: Volume 2)
Thanks for the info on that.
Drive My Car was not Paul's first lead on a Beatles song. He played lead on three Help! tracks: Ticket To Ride, The Night Before, Another Girl.
Thought so.
Beat me to it
Appetite is objectively the best Rock album ever recorded. Even if GnR is not your favorite band, it's still better. No other piece has so completely represented what Rock n Roll is all about.
🔥
Luv the channel ! Thanxs !
Thank you! 🙏
I prefer the capitol version of Rubber Soul in Mono. I find that it's much more cohesive. I've Just Seen A Face makes for a great and upbeat opening track. That flows into Norwegian Wood, setting the mood nicely. Not to mention, I think Michelle, It's Only Love followed by Girl is the best sequencing of songs on any Beatles album.
Steven can't help smiling in most of the pictures. 😊
Essentially for myself, I digested the whole Beatles discography (other thsn *Let It Be)* when I was seven and Apple Records redistributed their whole catalog on compact disc. Inside of a year, I heard both editions of *Rubber Soul,* the original Capitol Records format from 1965 and the EMI format that was distributed on CD. (I can recall also listening to *Help!* and wondering what "I've Just Seen A Face" was doing there.) It took me a short extension of time to learn all the different levels of history that *Rubber Soul* represented for the Beatles and their evolution as musicians. I would not have considered likening it to *Revolver,* an album I considered vastly different, so it was really interesting when The Beatles Anthology came out in 1995 to hear George )Harrison) thinking those two records were like Volume 1 and Volume 2 in his mind.
Great video mate
Cheers! 🙏
Without George Martin and his crew it would have been a different sounding record.
But it wasn’t
I want my. I want my. I want my MMO. Another great one MMO, and I truly appreciate the close ups of the vintage gear.
🙂Cheers! Really glad you appreciate the close ups, I like to try and get them in when I can.
My all time favorite album. Seriously Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, Michelle, In My Life are just amazing by themselves but to have them on one album is incredible.
Me too
Perhaps the craziest jump in songwriting maturity in the shortest amount of time, if you consider Help! had come out only a few months before these recordings, and a few months later they would record Tomorrow Never Knows.
Yeah, absolutely unbelievable progression artistically and very brave commercially as well.
Enjoyed that! Thank you very much sir
Thank you!
Love your videos! Can you make one about Raw Power by The Stooges?
Thank you! Thats an interesting one, I'll definitely look into it, cheers!

One of the seminal records to come out. Terrific research and presentation on the video.
Thank you! it's one of my favourites so it was a real pleasure to do.

Revolver is better than Sgt Pepper 👇

Axl was the BEST EVER.! Now retire please, today he is painful to watch live.
