Planting Blunders: Embracing My Garden Fails… there will be more 😀
I have grown most of the Wave xollection available from seed in most of the colours. Tidal Wave is one thats very good I don't hear you mention much. They are amazing in planters. Petunia seeds also do well when planted at the same time as bacopa seeds as a nice combo.
I’ve mentioned Tidal Wave in the past, but I prefer it in the landscape over containers though.
I love sedum! Great choices Corey! Thanks for the slug suggestion, we’ve been invaded this year due to our June deluge. I was putting too much bait and it moulded, so from now on, just a few. Zone 3 Manitoba 🇨🇦👏🍁
I'm beginning to think I need to try superpetunia. Never been a fan of petunias before
Are those hydrangeas on a drip irrigation line? And if they are, how much do you give each plant? In times of drought and high temperatures.
They are on drip. The timing is going to depend on the emitters and your climate. We run ours for 70 minutes twice a day on the hottest, driest months.
My pumpkins on a stick are awesome!! I am not sure how the survive due to flea beetle damage but they did!! I almost pulled them out when most of the leaves were eaten early this summer. Thank you again for recommending these early in the season.
Beautiful plants!!! I heard many times that perennials like echinacea don’t need much fertilizer. If I plant them with annuals and I fertilize the annual, will this be detrimental for the echinacea? I really enjoy your videos!
Thank you so much! My soil is almost entirely sand and I really struggle with plants . I dug up a rose a few months ago for my husband to take to his dad and his dad asked him why I put it in sand to carry to him☹️
Can you do picks for rocky soil, the previous owners put in landscape fabric and decorative stone... removing the fabric but will never get all the stones.
Thank you. I garden in SE Fla in very sandy soil. I appreciate your suggestions.
I'm so sorry to hear your mother-in-law has passed away. Her memory will live on in all the lives she touched. The videos you made with her are even more special to your family to remember how much she loved gardening.
Do you carry eclipse? Haven't seen you talk much about them. Good in sun or part shade? Winterize? Our place doesn't have anywhere near the variety you have.
@@terigreen8649 We carried the Eclipse this year. Not sure how it’s going to do up here, so I can’t really talk about it yet. Leaves and blooms are beautiful on it. The ones we received from Baileys Nursery didn’t have very strong branches this year.
@@UpNorthGardenMI I knew I saw it on a podcast and fell in love with dark colored leaves. We will see
I watched your video this spring on choosing and fertilizing petunias---they were absolutely beautiful this year, the best I've ever had even tho we were terribly dry..lots of watering! They are still going strong! thank you for your tips. Condolences....
Corey, such great info! Would you give us one last seasonal update of the hydrangeas in your backyard?
I walked through in my last video. My Plants Are Still Going in September: Trimming and Care ua-cam.com/video/S0bO5eSBqa0/v-deo.html
@@UpNorthGardenMIThank you, Corey!
Thanks Corey, the September struggle is real! 🇨🇦👏🍁
When is best time to plant hydrangea...in in zone 7b
You’ll want to check with a local nursery for that answer. We’re able to plant panicle hydrangeas any time the ground isn’t frozen, but spring and fall are the easiest times for us.
I have really enjoyed seeing all your planters, I have taken note and I am going to see if I can get some of them here in the UK. Sending best wishes from N. Lincolnshire UK
I love watching your videos brand new gardener here! Hydrangeas are my favorites! do you ship?
Sorry, we’re not set up for shipping. However, your local garden center should have some varieties that they know will thrive in your area.
The one thing Im jealous of as a southern gardener 😂 These are gorgeous! What a great comparison.
Maybe you can make a video about dwarf varieties of hydrangeas for next year so we can see similarities/differences of cultivars 🙂
I covered the dwarf varieties in the earlier video (link in the video description). Color will be similar to the full sized versions.
Great video! I just started planting hydrangeas beginning of August so this was very helpful.
What a great way to grow them at a nursery-big impact, slower to dry out and you can 'easily' pull out the grow bag to sell them. That fire light with the dark pink blooms and dark stems is so pretty.
Really good information. Thank you.
Wow, what a difference in color between yours and mine! I live in central Indiana and have several you showed and my Firelight, Pinky Winky and Vanilla Strawberry are NEVER that bright! Lucky you!
Could you please do a segment on how to trim a hydrangeas or if we should. Should it be done in the fall or the spring?
@@DebBrown-ee5kw look for the two videos in this playlist… Hydrangeas ua-cam.com/play/PLnTB5Fj44ImwkOa9igdfXn05T1QPBigdu.html
Thank you for these updates. Im helping my sister plan her garden and now she can see what hydrangeas she loves the most!
Thanks for a great video. I appreciated learning about some hydrangeas that I not familiar with - nice to see how they bloom. BTW how much should I be watering my hydrangeas - I have pinky winkies
In containers, they need water daily. In the ground I check them every 3 to 4 days = more if it’s hot or windy. If they need it, I soak the soil on and around the plant. If you notice the leaves are wilting, they’re likely either really dry or really wet. They don’t like it wet/muddy.
@@UpNorthGardenMI Thanks for the always useful advice!
It's nice to know our weather helps! Makes the northern weather feel nicer!
Once again, my zip code envy is rearing its ugly head
It’s a different story in November when all the leaves are gone and things start looking very brown 😊
Another great video! Do you grow little lime punch? I have a few in pots and hope to plant out in the Fall.
We sold out of them, but I featured them in the earlier video (check the video description for the link). Punch gets great color.
Hi Evelyn, I’m zone 3 Manitoba and planted Little Lime Punch this spring. The colour it has turned is stunning! It should come through winter just fine as it will get great snow cover, so I’m thrilled with it! 🇨🇦👏🍁
Interesting video..........some very useful information!!!!!
🎉❤🎉
My condolences on the passing of your mother in law…it was lovely to have been introduced to her during your seed planting videos. Wishing your family God’s comfort at this time.
Sorry about your mother in law. Your garden is beautiful. So many nice plants. The butterfly flower still amazes me and the curbside garden is looking fantastic.
So sorry. Condolences to your family.
Sending prayers to your mother in law.
Once again thanks for sharing your tips on maintaining annuals. Are there any annuals that you overwinter like begonias or tropical hibiscus or jasmine. I am from India and I have a jasmine plant that I love. I overwintered it once but it almost died. I’d love to know what’s the right way to protect them from bugs indoors and keeping them healthy?
I loved that you included her in some of your videos. I am sorry for your loss
I LOVE Lotus vine. It’s so hard to find. I’m praying for rain. We are in moderate drought here in central Indiana 😢
I am very sorry for your loss. My condolences to your family.
So sorry for your loss. 😢
So sorry for your loss. I don't comment but I watch every video.
Aww, sorry about your mother-in-law. God bless.
Very sorry for your loss, Corey.
Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother in law.
What is the name of the plant with blue flowers that you call butterfly flower? Is it a perennial? Do you carry it at Netta's?
In our area it’s an annual. Butterfly Flower/Rotheca myricoides 'Ugandense'
@@UpNorthGardenMI Thank you for the information Cory. I will look for them in the spring.
great looking plants love the hydrangeas. so sorry for your loss my mom passed away 2 months ago 😢
So sorry for your loss. 🤗
❤ your planters are so nice...I'm soo sorry for you and your family's loss...she was a beautiful person and ther way you guys connected was wonderful.I loved watching videos when you and Ms.Pat were planting. She really seemed to enjoy it❤
Thankful, grateful....I appreciate those words. My planters are starting to look rough, but now I know how/what to trim and be grateful for what's still looking good. I planted Lantana, cuphea, sedum and yellow mini petunias together. It is a lovely pot and holding on like your lantana/cuphea planter. Thank you for sharing Pat with us one more time. ❤
