This was most interesting. Up until five years ago I didn’t use any fertilizer because I didn’t know the importance. My summer gardening has become more enjoyable and rewarding as well. I have learned so much from your videos this year Corey. Thank you!!

This was very interesting! We stopped by Netta's this week, I have my eye on a few things that I had not seen at other nurseries. I loved seeing all the containers in person...and the selection of hydrangeas was spectacular.

I’ve discovered a new love for plants this summer. I’ve spent countless hours every night dead heading, watering, meticulously removing slugs and ear wigs, transplanting etc. (LOVE petunias and spending time doing things other than what I’m supposed to be doing). I’ve been researching and studying and discovering everything I can from propagating to fertilization (complete game changer). I came accross one of your videos two nights ago and I’ve been binging everything you have to offer. I’ve knocked out about half of them as I putter outside at night with the flowers into the wee hours of the morning like an insane person, my trusty headlamp and ear pod whilst collecting seed for next season and all the other thingssss. Point is, you’re the gold standard. Of everything I’ve taken in via UA-cam videos, you’re the most enjoyable, knowledgeable, likable, humble, articulate and engaging person by far. I also suspect you’re quite hilarious in your every day life. I can tell you genuinely love sharing your knowledge with anyone who cares to listen and enjoy helping others do better. You don’t waste time on talking yourself up or beg for likes and subscriptions 8 times through the video, you get right down to business. My favorite is also the quality of your sound and video. AND YOU NEVER “ummm” or use nervous filler words which is incredible as a listener. I don’t normally comment much on videos, and this may be obnoxiously long to read but I felt compelled to tell you how incredible you and your content is. Keep all the “beautiful bean footage” rolling out. You are a treasure! Thanks so much for all of your help on so many topics. Forever fangirling in upstate New York, Tara B.

*Nice -- someone finally did the trials that I've been curious about!* Thank you for sharing it with us! ~~Although, I question the "no fertilizer" pots -- what was the growing medium?
In previous years, I *never* used liquid fertilizer or slow-release fertilizer, but I did plant in a Miracle Gro and compost mix, and my plants were nearly the size of those trial "liquid fertilizer" plants. So, those trial "no fertilizer" pots must be a very basic growing medium without Miracle Gro type additives, which isn't typical for us consumers as many of us use Miracle Gro or similar bagged potting mixes, so our "no fertilizer" plants would naturally be a bit larger than the trial "no fertilizer" pots, lol.
This year, I used the Beat Your Neighbor fertilizer (because you mentioned it) and my plants are a bit larger than those trial "liquid fertilizer" plants. *Plus* they have a lot more blooms *and* bloom much longer throughout the summer than when I didn't use fertilizer. 😁

The MiracleGro soil would have extended release fertilizer - conditions can have a big impact on how long those will last. It’s likely that early in the season, all three containers looked the same… so time is also a factor.
Glad to hear Beat Your Neighbor got the job done. I was happy with my results - without a side by side comparison, it’s hard to determine the differences.

Sorry about that. It’s tricky in a public space. You can change the speed of the videos in the settings and watch it slower.
