gx tag force was the peak of the serie. it had a lot complexity and synergies but it was still streamlined and not as overcooked as modern yugioh. archetypes were varied but still interchangable to a degree and monsters had only one or two effects which werent card specefic and restrictif like were we see in modern yugi werent we see repetitive predictable long combos and everything is decided in the first one or two turns instead gx was about the long terms and long run and it allowed for comebacks but ill admit it lack the polish we see later on . and in my opinion even the card design was more stylish and fits the theme of the show. as for the game itself the academy mode was so good like you a cozy slice of life with a bit of mystery here and there. the deck building was slow but satisfying to unlock cards and back in the day it was everything i wanted from yugioh rpg like game
