Link Monster - Master Rules Revision Update: bit.ly/3dLgzf0
Uhm, this is probably the only way ur gonna hear me, but what if i put a link monster into the extra monster zone, where the arrows point left/right, is anything then affected?
Link monster has destroyed the Yu-Gi-Oh game Yu-Gi-Oh game is worthless now because of this link b*******
I hate link 😡
Yeah I just want to correct you on something. Decode talker says you need 2+ effect monsters. This means that you should use a minimum of 2 monsters to link summon it. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Link monsters have ruined the game, they had no need to add anymore, they coulda just stopped at pendulum monsters and that woulda been enough
Any of you guys watched the yugioh time travel movie with that paradox guy in it?
Now I understand why he went back in time
see, pegasus would never have created this abomination. the death of pegasus created synchro :S
@@ftu2021 I think the board is bigger mistake then sychron lol
My man said now we see why he went back in time 🤣🤣 all I can say is, facts !!
XD
Its obvious that he went back in time to kill the person that pitched the link idea to pegasus
Uhh So this is how it feels to take a break from yugioh and come back
yep where new cards and summoning methods exist and all your starts no longer mean jack
Facts the dynamics are fucked. Not that confusing but still fucked in the end 😂 so much change for this new style.
And now I feel old and I'm only 14
Maybe we should stick with our old school rules & try to adapt everything up to pendulum stuff into it
Word bro, I went into a store where they hold duels and shit and me coming in with my original deck thought I'll probably win all these duels. Upon arriving I talk to the guys who run the store and have em check my deck. Dude was like "do you want me to be honest or do you want me to be nice" He told me my deck will have me leave the store with everyone laughing at me cuz all the cards are old and now everyone's using link monsters, damn did I miss a lot
Remember when fusions were the most complicated thing in the game
oh geez thats even before my time...
I still don't understand them, how can two monsters become 1, what is this? Dbz?
I also remember where 98% of the cards in the game didn't have 7 lines of effect text lol
Dingbat yeah just a lil bit of background lore or sumn😂😂
It was very funny
Fusion summon: super
Synchron summon: super
Xyz summon: pretty easy and useful
Pendulum summon: confusing but super and ultra Useful
Link summon: I wish I had never played yugioh.
Ahaha tbh i did get the pendulum summon
Pendulum was easy to understand
I get every summon, EXCEPT THE FREAKING LINK SUMMON, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The worst parts of pendulum and link is how much they change outside the summoning method themselves, given how both actively changed how the field was laid out. Pendulum had their "can be played as a monster or a spell" thing in addition to adding a summoning mechanic AND had their goes to the extra deck instead of the graveyard when leaving the field feature.
Meanwhile Links added another zone on to the field (again), are a new extra deck type (and possibly the easiest in basic concept, since it's just tribute monsters but from the extra deck, and tributing a tribute monster reduces the number of tributes the new monster needs equal to the number of tributes the former took) but then on top of all that, like Xyz they have no level, and like everything else they have no rank, and just because Konami felt like it they have no DEF (and by extension can never be put in defence mode). They then also made columns not just a relevant feature of the game again like how Cyberdark Infinity tired to, but actively enforced them, which was something really simple that apparently many players somehow struggled to keep track of or abide to. And on top of all that they actively overhauled how every previous Extra deck summon worked to fit with their own mechanics, making themselves almost compulsory for playing in any format with them before MR5, which rightfully freed the other extra deck mons from the link era tyranny.
TL;DR Link Summoning itself is as simple if not more so than Ritual, Fusion, Syncro, Xzy or Pendulum. The issue is how it changes the board and how the pre-existing summoning methods work, and how they made themselves something you Had to understand and likely use if you wanted an Extra deck.
I'm about to ritual summon on your ass
Also how is this gonna work with my duel disk fam
asking the important questions
Alfredo Izg
Just pretend it never existed and play by the old rules
ikr
How did Pendulum monsters work with your duel disk? I mean, now they're in your spell/trap card zones, but before?
That's easy... if you had a duel disk, there would in fact be SEVEN zones to put monsters cards in. But only center FIVE space are for monsters. The extra zones on the far left and far right were the pendulum zones.
So they screwed over Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and some of Pendulum summoning just to make a new summoning mechanic. *Deep Breath* FANTASTIC
I hate almost every change that came in the link era
Ye rip accel synchro summoning
ZacIsBurnt i come from the future they changed the new rule set you now only need links in link monster decks and pendulum decks to summon them to normal monster zones. Yeah fusion, synchro and xyz monsters are back to their former glory
@@tomsky4751 not yet the official Master rule change does not come into effect until April 1st and it's only to the ocg. It will most likely follow to the tcg shortly afterwards.
Tom Sky so if it’s not a link monster deck, none of that bullshit applies?
Let's be real. Konami didn't do this because they give a shit about how broken their previous cards have been. They did this to force you to buy new cards.
This man gets it!
Konami's all about that money! Just, look at how they treat their legacy IPs.
Pachinko machines ruin families!!
Well yeah, It's a company? They didn't make the game to do us a favor you realise?
Cyanlaser121 and to make people watch Yu-Gi-Oh VRains
Two birds with one stone, eh? Maybe three even. :P
MrPeperidge haha I think me and you are the only ones here that understand this. I'm not going to lie this makes me want to play the game again
I miss the times where Jinzo was OP.
He used to be my trump card back in the day😥(no pun intended)
I don't
But I miss when I didn't have to think about how to add links to my decks
Mario Ramirez dude deadasss!!!!!
Yeah the good old days.
I still remember my preteen days when I nuked my friends with Chaos emperor dragon and Black luster soldier
Pendulum destroyed Yugioh but link banished it
Nah the New Master rules fixed it. Thank god. That First i don’t now what was awful
Not banished, more like but a limiter on it so as prevent pendulums from being as OP as they use to be.
you can say Pendulum sent yugioh to the graveyard but link banished it from existence.
@@newstart229 straight to the shadow realm
Bullshit
Synchro was a cool new way to summon.
XYZ was different but still a useful twist.
Pendulum added versatility and a "doom drop" style of summoning. still good.
Link just fucked everything up and somewhat crippled pendulum summoning. not a fan at all.
Not just somewhat,it totally fcked up my pendulum decks...
Despite all of this
We all know the most difficult effect in the entire game still belongs to pot of greed
Also...did you know...that bungee gum has the properties of bith bungee and gum??? It's just as complicated as pot of greed which lets you draw two cards

I remember playing during xyz and my opponent say his monster can only be destroyed by another xyz.
when you thought pendulum ruined Yu-Gi-Oh
Pendulums: "We were the most devastating thing to ever happen to Yugioh."
Links: "Here, hold my beer."
Konami never gets tired of shitting on Yu Gi Oh
I actually liked pendulum, it brings more decisions in the game, so we wouldn't follow the same pattern... but link is really bad.
I mean link would be awesome as an additional format without ruining current Yu-Gi-Oh but that will never happen...
I thought Konami were taking the piss when they named an entire type of monsters "Xyz". How lazy can you be?!
PhobosDDeimos i guess it's because you "overlay" the monsters just like Xyz dragon, but castel, Tornado Dragon and Gear GiantX don't appear to be "overlayed" monsters
Trying to get back into the game after a 12 year absence. I can accept Synchro, Xyz and Pendulum; but this is just a big no. I understand Link, but that doesn't mean I like it.
Fuck Pendulum honestly. Shit's broken af.
Just use a deck that doesnt use extra deck lol
As a first gen duelist and playing since. My suggestion is playing all within the limits of your friends. Truthfully, I am slowly adjusting to links but my decks dont have to run links. At least understand them for your opponent. For friends, you all keep it casual until the tournaments.... Buddy, yugioh is now for the one turn kills that easily favors one side instead of swinging it out back and forth. I still dislike links but I love yugioh too much to leave it.
Fuck Pendulum too tbh
Yeah I hate pendulums. Even when everything is calling me out to play pendulums, such as my Dark Magician deck appearing to work with the Magician Pendulum cards or my first deck I ever used (spellcounters) getting some pendulum support, I still refuse to play pendulums.
Me, only played Duel Links: "What the hell is a pendulum monster?"
It ll come to duel links dont worry.
@@Sonicbladez maybe in a year or two but mostly we would see XYZ first
Wait are they link summoning monster. If so why i don't see a "subterro behemoth fiendess"?
the day they add this shit is the day i quit
Me, who's played only duel generation: there's nothing about this that I understand
I had a deck specifically for spamming XYZ monsters of Level 3 or higher. This now ruins that entire deck.
Rest in Peace Number 39: Utopia.
There's enough upset fans here that maybe you could find duelest who just agree to duel with the old rules. At least thats what I'm hoping I can do.
You can play with old rules with friends

Link Summoning seems like the Yu-Gi-Oh equivalent of breaking your legs to sell you pain meds.
Never heard it summed up so accurately
No it's like if someone broke your kneecap. Shot you in both shoulders and stuck a knife in both eyes. Leave you to die. You get treated at the hospital and as soon as you make a full recovery they come and do it again.
no it more like if a dealership sold you a car they a year later they took everything that made it usable and said you would have to by the parts again
lol good metaphor!
Actually, link summoning turned yu-gi-oh into pokemon! (The card game, not the video game)
I stop playing for a couple of years and everything changes.

What I don't get is the color choice. Why blue again?
They haven't used red at all.
I would like to see a crimson shade of monster cards than more blue cards!

There are actually 15+ afaik. If you add the alternate ways to summon.

ethan cobabe Neo-Spacians have always been shit. They require such contrived situations in order to actually be good
I like how pendulum zone is changed, too broken otherwise, but the extra monster zone and link summon should die in a fire.
literally the only good thing about this. nerfing pendulum... how do you introduce a new card and make the best change to the game be the previous new card?
Well said my friend
What the hell has happened to this game, they've made it tragically annoying and confusing to be able to actually summon any extra deck cards. And if youdont play with link monsters you're screwed which means they're a forcing you to buy new cards to be able to even actually play
Chunkster fuck konami they only want ur money
Chunkster I'm actually glad they did this. OTK decks were becoming the norm. You shouldn't be able to summon 5+ times in a single turn.
Kiba Kitten too bad Links only sped things up more, hope ypu enjoy watching your opponent taking 15+ minutes to play out turn 1 and make a board you can't break
I’m not gonna be new decks and follow the new dual rules I’m still gonna play the way it was before
I haven't played YuGiOh in quite a while. Haven't tested link summoning, but is the game really that bad now? I quit long time ago because OTKs and insane locks were getting out of hand. When I heard about link summoning I thought - YEY FINALLY the game is gonna slow down, but if that is not the case i am not getting into yu gi oh ever ....
They broke that card game so much, the old rules were so simple and fun
They broke the game with Pendulum and used Links to fix it, hurting other decks in the process. Good idea, bad execution. I didn't like the mechanic, but am okay with it now, slows things down which is appreciated. But they could've done a much better job with it.

I dunno, I liked that game.
Yeah that would be an upgrade in my book!
Still playing it to this day
I love that game!
Good game though. Very underrated game, and hard as shiiiiiiiit
I love that all the comments are about how we all miss when Yugioh was actually comprehensible, I'm glad I'm clearly not the only one.
I am one of the people that played the game as a child when it first came out and it had a pretty big impact of my younger years.
I recently re-discovered a stash of cards and my love for the game, and since lacking people to casually play with in real life, I was excited to give the new YGO video game a chance because it received good reviews.
However, 30 minutes into the first levels of the campaign and my attention gets drawn away from the nostalgic duel scenarios to the new zones and I get utterly annihilated because the AI knew how to use it, I didnt. I rather play the GX Tag Force games again, it's a shame that after XYZ any new type made the game even more complicated and incomprehensive.
When you buy a new Deck that revolves around summoning 3 Thousand Eyes Restrict, and one month later Link monsters come out of nowhere and you start swearing against God and all Angels in Heaven, but then you realize that no one likes these new cards and everyone still plays with the old rules, not giving a fuck about the existence of Link Monsters
Wait... I thought if there are two or more thousand eyes restrict no monsters can attack
I'm afraid of what the next series will introduce....
Hopefuly something that clears the field and rules a bit.
Well the new series is going to introduce not a new form of summoning but a new format of dueling lmao
They might try to change the Extra monster zone rules, like, only for link monsters
You fool, welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh SEVEN, with RUSH DUELS! Ahaha kill me
Konami employee: Woah, nobody seemed to of liked link summoning what should we do? They say it changed the game!
Konami:lemme just literally change the game to being able to draw 5 cards at at a time, have 3 monsters on the field ONLY, change the card style and not have a cool down for how many monsters you can summon per turn also I would like to just call it a rush duel so it sounds more exciting.
Konami employee: but that's just what some kid who doesn't know what the rules of the game are would make so he can play it with his other oblivious friends!
Konami: exactly
Konami employee: so we're making it worse?
Konami: yes
I will admit that I've defended all other types of summoning that were introduced, because people were being drama-queens about it.
*Synchro Summoning* _"GASP! You can fusion summon WITHOUT polymerization?! It's over, the game is broken, Yugioh is dead!"_
*Xyz Summoning* _"GASP! You can synchro summon WITHOUT a tuner monster?! It's over, the game is broken, Yugioh is dead!"_
*Pendulum Summoning* _"GASP! You can special summon several monsters WITHOUT using a spell card?! It's over, the game is broken, Yugioh is dead!"_
I will admit though, this new one is a little hard to defend...
Pendulum really just needed to remove the *sent to the extra deck to be resummoned* clause and they would have been manageable again... this just kinda screams overkill.
the only good thing about this is that they made pendulum summoning now come with a draw back. now all my decks have to be done over, a complete f***ing overhaul. each of my decks specialized a summoning method now its gone down the drain. when they released pendulum i thought "neat this could make all of these easier methods easier" i even though i could make my dream neos deck but NOPE!!!

Executive: Ok gang, what can we do to make this game more fucked and complicated than it already is?
Group: Switch out the two right and left spell/trap zones for pendulum zones, and add two more monster zones above the original monster zone that requires new monsters with a chain summoning technique!
Executive: I don't get it.......Lets fucking do it!
Top Kek yeah if you don't use pendulums, which I don't and won't, you still have 5 spell zones. So don't know what the argument is there.
its the best thing in yugioh i think, that is complex, and need to make a strategy. In Heartstone you just put some cards in the deck and done.
I didn’t know konami executives talked like fred from scooby-doo
Links were the last nail in the coffin for me where Yu-Gi-Oh is concerned.
While I can applaud some of their card design and the push to break out of Yu-Gi-Oh's Zone limitations‚ it's just not the game I grew up with and played for years.

R.I.P. D/D/D Fusion, Synchro and XYZ combo
And pendulum spam. Don't forget Pendulum spam.
Not dead, fam... You can still summon them on the normal mosnter zones without link monsters or the extra monster zone, (graveyard, hand, and banished zone.)
Pendulum spam relies on blowing up scales to massive summon and then extradeck plays (see pure metalfoes and metalfoes engine, even igknight to a lesser extent), they are very very dead.
And how does that equal dead exactly? there are plenty of pend decks that don't need to spam all of the time. (like zarc magicians and DDD's)
Anas Khayyat DDD decks rely on spam still so they can summon strong monsters quickly so with this ddd decks are dead
This is getting way too much complicated and unecessary and these link monsters just ruined all the original gamestyle we got since the beginning and most of the decks. I will stick with the old gameplay it was already hard to understand with the Pendulum. But I do like the idea of the Pendulum taking place in the Magic & Trap zone, might try a hybrid version of the game with the original Gameplay but with the Pendulum Zone in the Magic & Trap zone.
I like the move of the pendulum zones but this completely destroys any deck based around the extra deck.
Yeah I'm now getting back into the game after a little break. My deck was mermails and it got hit pretty hard by link monsters
That's the kind of stuff you learn at the Duel Academy, right?
Remember that useless "Monster Replace" card from the anime, when Yugi used it against the Para Dox brothers? Now it has a use. :P
I'm hoping they start coming out with more cards like "Alien Infiltrator" that can either move zones themselves or cards that can move other cards around. That way the X-Zone won't actually be so limiting.
GREAT SCOTT!!!!! You're right
yeah senet switch is hilarious now.
man remember how syncrho was like a better ritual. well because of this ritual now has a use
I dont care about link summoning as long as someone in vrains spam summoms blue eyes ultimate dragon
They finally did it. They made mandatory cards. Every expansion they released sure you could jump on the new card train fall into the meta but you didnt have to. Now for any deck in the current card game that uses the extra deck REQUIRES these new cards. They have not only slowed down the game for anyone OTHER THAN THE NEW CARD TYPE but they have made a new card type that MUST be used. Every deck in the next pro tour will be a deck without an extra deck or with 90% link + some synchro for extra final push.
HobbsyTenTwentyThree exactly to have the advantage now you have to use link monsters if you want to special summon more than once from the extra deck thats how they slowed it down forced players to buy these cards pretty much
HobbsyTenTwentyThree I seen and I use a deck with no link monster but it's play style works around the new rules
The only thing I like is the minor pendulum nerf
Although it's a ton easier using link monsters, it isn't actually mandatory. I play D/D/Ds without a single links, and can still get a full field of extra deck monsters. (Except now I can have six instead of five!)
Lexey Yui May I inquire how you use ExDeck monsters outside of the one Extra zone without links?

I dont understand how a New comer can realisticly learn all of the yugioh rules by now. Is not like their New series are becoming any popular outside of Japan, in fact since the original series the anime is hardly attracting some attention and old fans dont seem too excited by the anime.
Learning the rules is one beast. Learning the summoning mechanics is the other beast. They have to be learned--and CAN be learned--separately.
I hear you, I finished watching the original anime and then went to GX. I couldn't get past the first episode because it made NO F****NG SENSE!! I think the "Duel School" s**t is what made me say "F**K THIS S**T, I'M OUT!!".
Little3Pigs facts and I’m 18 not even that old compare to others
I just started playing since arc-v came out so 2014 and i'm still a novis who uses pendulum
The only yu gi oh that I've watched is duel monsters so when i tried playing yu gi oh i was like "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS HOW THE FUCK DID THAT HAPPENED?!?" But I've already learned the rules took me about to months to be able to play it properly. I can already play up to pendulums summoning
So the only thing that i have learned today is that i can throw all of my goddamn 20 decks in the trash...
Well then thank you konami
(Slowly claps)
I really appreciate that
(Still clapping slowly)
You finally did it
(Clapping stopped)
You've murdered your game!
I do understand that players of the old cards felt a little bit butthurt about the advantages modern extra deck based strategies provided to us players
But as far as i know the synchro and xyz monsters never restricted other decks in the way they where played
And yeah sure pendulum was op,
but a nerf like this is just not okay!
You can't just punish ALL extradeck monsters for ONE (failed) type and then FORCE your players to RAPE their good ol decks with this link sh*t
Now all of the dark magician and blue eyes players come like:
“oh, konami you saved us“
And
“praise the lurd for stopping people from fast summoning“
BUT
I do remember these decks getting MASSIVE support over the last years, not only by fusions but also by synchros and xyz
AND
I do think that with this blue eyed Maiden and the thundering roar of the silver dragon and ancient rules they also where able to summon their monsters really really fast
SO
I don't understand, why they had to devastate extra deck based strategies
ESPECIALLY
After the monarch deck (wich has no extra deck) boomed so hard, that it just shot right through the ceiling and streight into the limit and ban list, just because it was able to defeat extra deck based strats
Was the limitation on the monarchs in vain?
And didn't just this a$$woopingly strong deck prove that even in pendulum time it was possible to win without an extra deck?
Konami, you have been making the extra deck a part of yugioh for so many years, don't you think that taking it away like this will also take away a big part of the game and a part of your beloved customers hearts?
Don't you think restricting the op cards of the newer decks and giving new support cards to older decks would have been a better option than completely changing the whole game without any regards for the people that actually play it?
I know there will be comments that say
“pendulum is not op“
But i played it myself and i can surely say:
“against older decks, it is“
I know there will be comments, that say:
“link monsters are great, they are just what we needed, i don't know what you're talking about“
Just because you are either a sentimental fool living in the past or able to sh*t gold to afford this link paywall this does not give you the rights to take all of us extra deck dependent players our cards, strats, heartforged decks and even the fun of the game
You might be happy about an improvement for your deck
You migh feel really motivated to play links
But you also have to understand the pain of a hero or cyber dragon, an utopia or galaxy, a fusion, synchro and xyz, yeah even a pendulum loving player who has spent time, money, efford, work and blood for his decks, when there is an announcement that tells him that all these decks now are completely worthless
So you might just think about ur deck
Make it trash, trow it down the garbage can
How would you feel?
Do u understand it now?
If not you don't even deserve to own a deck...
In my opinion older decks should get a little push BUT new decks like gusto and gishki and burning abyss or dark world should not be forgotten
To bring real balance the game might just need some supps for the decks that already exist
New types just make it messier and that's not helping at all
So why don't just hang on to the cards we allready love?
true, that is I guess the reason why people hate link so much, in comparison to the old additions, as it actually messes with their old strategies, not just defeat them
Rasen Destroyer - Oh my fucking GOD!!! Thank you so much, I feel so exteriorized reading this comment, I was feeling the same damn way after getting what Links really meant for Yugioh. I truly hope that Konami is gonna step back in some way and AT LEAST instant delete that stupid normal monster zone to let players be able to summon from extra deck as before, but seeing how Konami changed the whole game and how are commercially designed to force you to by them if you want to kinda summon your monsters as before, I fear we wont really be able to “legally” play as we were used to. It just slows pointlessly down the pace of the game and made summoning and managing your field very rigid and unpractical, but also force to integrate this ruleset for 80% of any exisiting Decks if you want to play by the current rules. Before those links monsters came out, I fairly enjoyed all the archetypes of the game, even Pendulumn; if a player doesn’t like playing with certain more recent cards, they weren’t force to include it in their Deck to be able to play as anyone with friends, despite not necessarily being Meta Deck as long as they have fun with it. Now, the Links are restricting older Decks as well to use them; and as easy it seems to say that we’ll ignore those new rulesets and play as we’d like, I bet a lot of us would like to go to some regional or bigger tournaments to have some good time trying to do our best with our beloved deck; but welp, guess we’ll have to adapt if we want to keep playing the game by Konami’s rules. Dick move Konami, dick move...
I don’t think I intended to write such a long message in the first place, but I guess I needed to vomit my frustration about this, and your 1 y.o. comment gave me the inspiration, Thanks dude :)

"With GX and onwards; it became all more and more childish"
I definitely agree that GX, Zexal, Arc-V, and VRAINS are all aimed at way younger target audiences and I don't enjoy them as much as the original Duel Monsters. However, 5D's is probably the most mature out of all the Yu-Gi-Oh shows and a gem among the spin offs. If you haven't given it a shot I highly recommend the sub; especially episodes 1-64.
"BTW, you do realize that XYZ, Pendulum, and Link Summoning are all pure capitalism, right?"
Absolutely, each new summoning mechanic is just another way for Konami to incentivize players to buy new cards.
Ryan Barker I liked GX. Out of all the protagonists, Judai is the one with the most REMOTELY normal looking hair. Plus, you should check out the Japanese sub of GX. It’s uncensored like it should be, especially season 3. 4Kids would fuck up season 4 badly, hence they didn’t dub that.

see one half of me is telling me that link monsters are shit and its messing the game mechanics up especially for us old school players who run beat down decks and all the pros that come with the old cards. Yet the other half of me is seeing logic as it breaks down the flow of the extra deck and stops players spamming copies of the same op cards. That being said having to use link monsters is something i'm not down with atm, i still maintain that they should just have reformed the banned list and kept the original format. None the less, can't help but admit that some of the cards are pretty cool though.
the new format itself actually seems legit fun, since when your opponent can (apparently) also profit from your link zone. That would mean that there is huge outplay and mind game potential, however it kills to many of the old strategies and messes with the mechanics so much that it is basically a yu-gi-2.0h and not the same game anymore...
which is I guess the reason why people hate it so much, since it makes all of their old cards downright unusable without the addition of new cards and lets admit, those cards are expensive af

Ryan Barker Synchros can make summoning powerful monsters a bit too easy, but are undeniably fun and fit in any deck
@@aramis9331 In my opinion it evens out since decks that can easily summon a powerful synchro monster have to be built around summoning that monster. There is still counterplay but I definitely know what you mean.
I really appreciate synchro summoning for being a fun and unique mechanic that does not disrupt the flow of other mechanics in the game. The reason I don't like link summoning isn't because of link summoning itself, it's because how much it nerfed fusion, synchro, and XYZ summoning.

one of the best things of yugioh was it was generally easy to play and pick up, and as the added new kinda of cards you just added that to your knowledge of the game. but drastically changing the mechanics of the game ruins it for casual players
Casual or not. Broken, unbalance and unhealthy strategies are not welcome and should be dealt with. The change was needed, otherwise you have decks like zoo running rampant with ONE card into 3 extra deck monsters without wasting normal summons.

This makes pendulum summoning much harder and much more annoying.
So like I haven't played ygo or followed but the change to the board is the WORST change in the history of the game.

Whereas Pendulum changed the game drastically, it still felt like Yugioh. Link Summoning literally ruined Extra deck for people that wanna focus on Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, heck even classic Fusion summoning has it rough. All those epic combos protagonists used in past seasons aren't even possible now. I can understand adding new mechanics, but forcing older mechanics to change is just silly.
FlareBattle
Rip my E-Heroes :c
Except the fact that Pendulum summons made having an extra deck OP to begin with since you could get several monsters out and use them to rapid summon super powered XYZ/Synchro summon in 2 to 3 turns. Making it impossible for a person who didn't have pendulum summoning to counter the opponent before getting blasted and losing. So if you want to be mad at a game changing mechanic, get mad at Pendulum summoning. Link summoning is just the attempt to fix the damage it caused.
Ian Hunter I've heard the meta doesn't even rely heavily on Pendulums, the other summoning methods also had potential to get cards out fast, it just took more planning. There were ways to counter it too. Instead of creating Link Summoning to completely erase the past potential of Pendulums, Pendulums did the opposite and enhanced the capabilities of past cards, even normal summons. It's honestly the way they did it too. They actually had to change the field that drastically instead of actually creating a new card type that could counter it. That's pretty lame.
EDIT:
I can see the point though and it makes sense. But personally for me, Pendulums were really fun, it's just disappointing that they've rendered a great mechanic that low.
FlareBattle
Yes, the reason Pendulums aren't Meta is because they have to waste their resources on scales just to pendulum summon, and the mechanic is easy to side deck against.
Fairy Wind
Magical Spring
Twin Twisters
Anti Spell Fragrance
Dimensional Barrier
and that erata'd imperial card that prevents spells from being activated...

Honestly they should've stopped at Synchros. Xyz could've been cool, but they didn't handle it correctly. Pendulum was a flawed concept they made work for whatever reason. Link is like a President walking into the mess of several predecessors and trying desperately to salvage the situation. It doesn't seem like it will work.
So no other summoning after ritual and Fusion?
Simmlex nah like synchro is cool in my opinion, and xyz could be worse and I still like it, but pendulum made it too easy to get monsters out

Actually, the game isn't dead. Same for decks that used to spamm extra deck monsters. The game is slowed down. Back in the day, we used to end a duel in 3-4 turns. Now it's a bit longer, and force you to think about what zone you summon your monsters. Also, you need to think well before summoning a monster, because you can only get 1 at the time.
I am from the furute. Tthe year 2043 and there is stupid, Taco's, over complicated and screw the rules summoning. The field is layout like a keyboard.

I personally don't like the new update either. It's a bit complicated and changes the whole game. I'm not recognizing Yu-Gi-Oh anymore. Some players say It's meant to limit the power of Pendulum. But actually we all got used to Pendulum and didn't need new monsters/new rules to win
How to link summon:
-step 1: don't
Edit: I began to use the link format cuz my friends are all playing the format (pls don't hurt me)
Don't worry I started to play Link too, but in my case just to annoy my Friends.
I started using it a week ago (along with Pendulum) and it's not bad. Links are weird for sure, but I am using a Pendulum deck and it helps balance the summoning method to prevent crazy spamming every turn. Even I wouldn't want to spam 5 monsters a turn every turn.
Couldnt they have changed the rules without changing the field and forcing you to get new cards? Lime limit extra deck summoning to once per.
"You can only perform 1 fusion, 1 Xyz, and 1 Syncro summon per turn."
Bam, done. No field changing, no Link monsters needed, slightly harder to flood the field with special summons.
I quit
5:13 oh great a paywall
Oh man, I actually like this feature. It feels like it can actually give weaker decks a chance by preventing the opponent from summoning their entire special deck at once, and the link mechanics along with 2 extra zones sounds like a whole new world of strategy and planning.
Who needs to summon all their extra deck when they can still open the floodgates to fill their field with 3-5 cards from their normal deck in a single turn?

Wait hold on. You lost me at normal summons.
My thoughts on summons:
1- Normal/Tribute/Special: Just read the card & 5+ require sacrifice, simple
Fusion: So, two specific monsters + a Polymerization card, no problem.
Ritual: Okay, certain monster & a spell card related to monster, along with sacrifices
Synchro: So, there's a monster called a Tuner monster & I need that on the field along with monster whose level is EXACTLY equal to the one I want, like an easier Ritual? Sign me up!
XYz: (one sigh laterl-I gotta have two monsters on the field with the EXACT level on the field as the one I want, put'em under that one & they act like Equip cards so I can use the XYZ's effect? It'll take a bit to get used to, but sounds cool I'm in.
Pendulums: Huh, it's a monster AND a spell card? So there's spots called a Pendulum Zones & as long as the 2 of them with different numbers, I can play as many monsters with levels in between those two? My head hurts!
Links: Now you're just messing with me. I'm going to MTG, slow things down then call me back.
This makes me sad. I miss the days where I could play on DN with my quasar deck
so the new board helps balance the power of spell and trap cards, while Link cards make things...harder for one turn bullshit. however, this does balance out players that are too OP, s there's that.
It balances nothing. Links are an X-Deck tax. Nothing more, nothing less. Tier 1's will "pay the tax" like the rich pay taxes irl, while Tier 2 will struggle just to keep their metaphorical heads above metaphorical water in order to keep up.
Basically, Konami is instituting Communism in Yu-Gi-Oh, with much the same result as irl. They've committed Deck genocide on a scale that's never been done before.
okay, I take back everything I ever thought about having to have polymerization in my deck to summon stuff, holy crap.
I’ve been watching vrains since it started coming out and now, like nearly 3 years later, I’m learning how links actually work.

link summoning in no way stops otk'ing. have you seen V-Rains. the amount of op cards in the game is humongous.
Noah Agboinfi he didnt say it stops otks. but now we dont have to wait 30 minutes for them like zoods made us do.
It's not there won't be OTKs, many still exist with JUST effect monsters. All it did was nerf a huge amount that focus on xyz, fusion, and syncro spam. At the same time though if you think this killed OTKs then you don't seem to get that there will definately be Link monster based ones, with their point being swarming with effect monsters to swarm with link monsters who summon more link monsters and who's effects protect each other from harm. It's just getting rid of the power of old cards that they built to function in an OTK way on purpose as a way to force players to buy NEW OTK decks that are based around playing the newer cards only. It ruins a LOT of decks that a lot of people probably spent a lot of money on to the point of being worthless without really actually FIXING the problem since it's pretty obvious they'll just replace those old OP decks with even more OP decks that force the use of the new cards. It's manipulative really.

Friends Gaming that's basically what everybody said when every other card type came around but did yugioh really go bye bye after they came out, no, sure they're maybe a few quitters but I actually some advantage to these link monsters, because then decks that rely on the extra deck can only use one unless they have a link monster on the field and pendulum monster decks that basically rely on the extra deck are going to be limited on there choices unless they have a link monster and there are plenty of decks that don't need an extra deck.
Ugh no they're making Yu-Gi-Oh 10 times more complicated than it should be
