Awesome album, man!!! From Radiohead I prefer 'The Bends' for its classicism but 'OK Computer' is a gem, another gem from '97 like 'Pop' by U2.

The drums on this track were said to be influenced by DJ Shadow - his album Endtroducing would be another very interesting reaction! Thom Yorke (lead singer/songwriter in Radiohead) also worked with DJ Shadow on the track "Rabbit In Your Headlights" from the UNKLE - Psyence Fiction album (very, very good too).

My favorite band for many years (still love them but I listen to other stuff most days now). Looking forward to this reaction!

You'd be amazed at how many times you think something is a keyboard or just some electronic sounds and it's actually a guitar with some pedal effects, they're masterful at getting a huge range of effects from the guitar. That's why after you do a couple of albums, and forgive me but i'm pretty sure you will get hooked, I want you to do the live from the basement sessions. Usually people who really listen to music a lot get really into Radiohead and i'm looking forward to the albums.

Coming from your Zooropa reaction this is right on par. Radiohead's album before this "The Bends" has a big U2 influence then they went out and made this masterpiece. This to me is an album U2 would have sold crack to Nuns to make!!

Finally Radiohead, thank you, one thing I would say is that sometimes their music needs multiple listens to fully digest. They are the definition of "grower" type of band. They are covered by more Jazz and Classical artists than any band I can think of, they create very emotional sonic landscapes that you can just dwell in for a good while. The first song on the album is a little more upbeat and while great, it doesn't represent the rest of the album all that much (sort of).

The second song on the album is often compared to Queens Bohemian Rhapsody and it's another banger. This album was pretty groundbreaking in it's day it sort of tolled the death knell for Brit Pop and even Grunge in a way, Dave Grohl saw Paranoid Android while both bands were on Jools Holland (Radiohead is on the show a whole lot) Dave said Radiohead is one of the best live bands of all time and the album was a pivotal moment in music history and that the band was asking the audience to join them in a musical revolution. Right after this record when Radiohead was at the pinnacle of rock success and were being called the saviors of rock they did a complete 180 and made an album with a totally different sound, they even ditched the guitars for half the songs. Radiohead parallels the Beatles in a lot of ways, especially how the radically change their sound from album to album and lately you could hardly call them a rock band anymore they just use whatever medium serves the song and they don't worry about it afterward. I'm a big prog fan and Radiohead claims to dislike prog but they are one of the most progressive bands ever.

Wow. Also wait for The Smits as Radiohead was heavily inspired by them

I wouldn't say heavily, for sure they were fans but I would put the Pixies on top of that list. Radiohead have taken inspiration from a very eclectic mix of genres including Jazz and Classical artists along with Krautrock, EDM, the Beatles, and many others.

@@deepdivemusicreactions Keep in mind that Radiohead gets just as much inspiration from Miles Davis or Alice Coltrain or Penderecki as they do rock music sometimes people just like to stan for their favorite band when another band mentions they liked them.
